UKGPL Season 44 - 1966 Can-Am -  Road America - Mar 19

Quote
I just learned that the US + Canada have switched to Summer time!

UK + Central Europe - still have winter/normal - GMT (UTC) and CET atm  (UTC +1h)
we switch to ST - 31.03.2024

The 5th race in the CanAm 66 series finds us at Road America near Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
The track covers 640 acres (2.6 km2) within Wisconsin’s Kettle Moraine. It currently hosts over 400 events a year. Road America has not been modified and retains its original configuration of 4.048 miles (6.515 km) in length and consisting of 14 turns. The track features many elevation changes, along with a long front stretch where speeds approaching 200 mph (320 km/h) may be reached.
Please check the Season 44 details regarding rules and the 1966 Can-Am Championship pages in particular.

You have to "drive each car once!"
Only one Shift-R is allowed !!!

ROLLING START

We do a ~100mph (160kmh) rolling one line start to the exit of T7
No passing allowed!
A DQ is the result for ignoring

The link to the track download is allways in the announcement thread Wink

Please READ CAREFULLY THE RULES :

A driver must cross the start line in order to register the use of a chassis, participation in qualifying is not sufficient.
Drivers are reminded that Lap 1 incidents carry an extra 1 place penalty.
Drivers must complete 50% race distance to score.
MOD INT - only One Shift-R is allowed with no need to make Stop & Go
Only reported incidents will be moderated.
Please, excepting emergencies, no chat until Session Completed in qualification. No chat in the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

THERE ARE MORE THAN 19 REGISTERED DRIVERS IN THIS SERIES, SO :
The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Haul arse after T7!!!??? I hope I remember.

I just learned that the US + Canada have switched to Summer time!

Oh crap! I had forgotten Europe may not have changed yet. It took me 2 or 3 days to realize we had changed the time. I couldn't understand why two of my clocks were correct and two were wrong. This might be the first time I haven't anticipated the clock change. So the start should be a hour later for me?

That was a busy race! My car was on a knife edge under braking, a fraction too late and I was off. It was manageable on my own but in traffic there was too much going on and I screwed up too many times. I had a great race with Tom, Cookie and Tris. I was catching Tom and Tris with 2 laps top go but I put a wheel on the grass and that was it, a massive spin and any chance of challenging them was gone.

I don't think I was the only one with brake issues. Both Tom and Cookie lost it under braking. I saw them both in my mirrors I managed to dive out of Tom's way but I lost sight of Cookie and despite running as wide as I could we made contact. I could continue without damage so no harm done.

I didn't enjoy that one. I hit a spinning Cookie on about lap 4, had to shift-R as my car was broken which put me in 14th place. Happy just to claw my way back to 9th. Better luck next time for me. Grats to the fast guys at the front. A 1:12 from Yannick!

Yes a hard race for me too, starting with a big pain in my back and was mostly busy to avoid any hurting move...

Yeah, Pete sorry for the takeout, those cars have the early new tyre-model of GPL and tend to sudden snap over when temps reach 80°
I promise the SC71 are better!

Grats Yannick and Greg - but don't forget Clive made a 2:12 too in the ChapE Grin
