Hello there. I have been playing GPL casually for a couple of years and thought it would be a good idea to try out online. I was hoping to participate in an event coming up soon and gain some experience of racing online. I'm rather new to this so you'll have to bear with me but I was wondering how I can join the VROC UKGPL chat on iGor and join in certain races. Also, if possible, can I race occassionally or do I have to race at every track during a season?

Many thanks, Sam

Welcome Sam,

If you enjoyed racing GPL on your own..it is about to get 20 times better Grin and bigger Wink
We have just started a 65 novice league in UKGPL, which is set up to allow people who are nervous and/or new to online racing to have some real racing, a lot of fun and gain experience and confidence.

There are several topics on this forum referring to the GPL 65 Mod with instructions on how to download and install. ( dont worry its free!!) and there is always someone to help if you get stuck.
The beauty of these 65 cars is that they are easier to drive than the 67 monsters and allow you to concentrate on racing and driving against "real" people without wrestling with the car.

The man to get in touch with is Jack O'Ferrall, who is organising the 65 novice league. I will send him a PM to look at your post and arrange to get you signed up ( thats painless too )

Hello Sam, welcome to UKGPL.

These are the links for the 65 mod-

David Wright's 'Legends' site http://fp.gplegends.plus.com/ has the download of the most recent 2.0.1 version (under 'details') as well as being an exceptional guide to both 1965 and 1967, for those interested in Formula One history.

Unfortunately the current 65 mod download does not have default setups.  Default setups can be downloaded from http://www.neurology-crew.com/gplserver under '65 setups'.

This thread https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=4827.0 might help with the installation of Gem+/Igor which is needed for both online and the 65 mod, it has its own internet site http://gem.ebi-service.de/

To register for our 65 Novices races just post here https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=5133.0 and vote in the poll.  You'll notice that there are several options asking how much you want to race.  If you want to try the 67s the introductory level is the Clubman's Cup.  The Novices run on alternate Tuesday nights and Clubmans on alternate Sundays, the schedules are at the top of the registration threads.

If you select a night to make a connection for some online practice message me on this site and I'll try to be online to help out.  It's best if you don't attempt to make your first connection on the night of a race!
