Is there any risk, crashes etc?

Not really, we have been using personalized skins since 2003 and never had problems.
There is one important exception, however: the skins are designed for specific versions of the cars. If you use a Ferrari36V, for instance, with a livery made for the Ferrari48v , then your computer may crash.
That's why we prepared a download with all the cars, not just the additional liveries.

Can someone tell me exactly which GPLEA cars are used. I run modified car 3do's to show a virtual mirror because of the more realistic FOV settings I use which mean I can't see the wing mirrors. So I must continue to use these or make new ones.

I use the following:
BRM P83 v3.0
Eagle v4.0
Ferrari Parkes v3.1
Lotus49 v3.1
Brabham BT24 v2.1
Cooper T81 v2.1
Honda RA300 v3.0

Are these compatible or have I got some work to do??

I can't tell which car versions they are from the download as there's no text files just the GPLEA logo.  It might be easier to renumber your existing .3dos and test the mips just for the car you want to race, lot67 and lot90 if Clive can't make it and you're online.  The 3dos worked for my existing GPLEA Lotus.  The liveries will only work on special servers anyway, so you won't need more than one car.

Jethro, yeah, just practice for Clubmans and have the BRM.

If you look here:

https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=5692.msg99152#msg99152

you'll find the gplea version on the bottom left of each image.

Please do check that everything works with your modifications before using the skins online. At worst you can simply race without skins, you won't affect anyone else.

See you tonight,
Luca

Still not 100% on my participation. I've just remembered I'm away on an overnight stay tomorrow so I've got a few things I need to get out of the way before I leave in the morning. If I get all my jobs done I should be OK.

If I do end up racing, it will be with the default livery. I personally don't see the point in me changing the cars for 1 race I'm unlikely to be driving in.

Not trying to force anybody to do anything but it's only a few mouse clicks and some typing to change the names on two folders.

I was unable to join the server from GPL, so was forced to join via Vroc with disastrous results!!  sorry guys .
Trying to steer with what feels like a knotted rope sliding over a knobbly tyre is a nightmare, I am going to have to find what this problem is!!

Qually was pathetic managed only 11th on grid with an Eagle at monza Undecided. pah!!

Start was good ( the only good thing ) jumped two places ..both from Gpfun and tried to settle down to a steady pace. After a couple of laps the steering caught me exiting 2nd Lesmo and I ended up parked facing the wrong way  Embarrassed . lost a few places  and set off again.

Regained a place or two and was slowly closing on the car in front when it went all wobbly again braking for Curve Grande...ended up on grass going straight into end of armco...THE END!!

PS if this pattern continies I will withdraw myself from any more challenge races until I have a setup here that at least allows me to drive up to my meagre ability.
feeling very pi**ed off and very evil cursing

eClive, I'm not sure GPL accepts IPs in the form of gpfun.com or whatever, you should use exact ip numbers next time, it has always worked for me.

I don't know for you, but the server was bad for me. Warping all the time with all 3 connection columns going up and down.
Qualifying wasn't bad and we occupied 3 of the first 4 places. I briefly lost a place on the start but got it back and then tried to follow Ken while Paolo and Lorenzo pulled away. After some laps Paolo had an off at Parabolica, so now we were 1-2-3.
Ken was unfortunate to have his engine blow up on the s/f straight, then after a few laps Lorenzo clipped the outside on the exit of Parabolica and I had to brake and swerve to avoid him, though he just removed his wreck from the track, but that lost me enough speed to allow fast recovering Paolo to get close in the next lap.
It took him another lap to get into my slipstream towards Parabolica and I opted for the outside and we exited it close to each other with him infront. I tucked behind to get his slipstream and went for the inside into CG side by side. I managed to hold my line and he held his, but there wasn't enough room with the bad connection there was so warp contact sent us both into retirement. Pity.

Grats to the opposition for winning it, but I hope we use a different server next time.

My connection was fine here   Smiley
And very pleased that I finally finished one of these friendlies!  Grin
I think I might need practice in the 67's though  whistling

Clive: I may be talking nonsense as I've only installed VRoc about 4 hours ago  (Embarrassed) but have you somehow either Enabled/disabled the speed sensative steering, or maybe somehow altered the steering linearity in GPL?

Stupid suggestions I know  - But I don't know how much backing up if any VRoc does when launching  Undecided

Got a very bad start and was last away (collecting some wreckage on the run down to the Curva Grande didn't help).  Server wasn't too good in praccy, a few cars were jumping about but my level meters seemed quite low so it must have been their connection not mine.  My Pribluda displays were corrupted so I couldn't use them.  Disconnecting and rejoining usually sorts that out but I didn't dare disconnect in case I got the wrong livery.  Anyway I was catching a couple of guys when on about the 6th lap I went slightly wide at Lesmo 1 and lost a wheel on the armco, race over Sad.

Pity we had a few bad connections.  A lot of work went into preparing the liveries and organizing the race.  A big thank you to Dave (Jack, Amagi) and Luca (and the rest of GPFun) for organizing the race.  The teams looked well matched, hopefully we can have a rematch next season.

The address provided works fine; my bet is that his core.ini was not properly setup.
VROC takes care of the proper settings for a "fast" connection (3/84/3/132) but when you join directly the core.ini must be correct.

Sorry to hear about the server, when did you have problems?
I was connected with VNC in the first 5 minutes, it would be no surprise if there were problems at that time.

Bye,
Luca
