just tried the server with Natan...all seems ok except for my driving  Undecided

Looks like a sub 1:40 should definitely be a pissabolity, although not by me unless I get myself and a setup sorted out.

We had a visitor from San Diego, one Gary Tautfast, who was interested in racing with us on Sunday evening if he is free at 2pm. (his time). Might be a new recruit for 65's, but he was doing low 1:41's, so is no slouch in a Cooper.

I have a 38 in Cooper, it's a great track for racing, I agree with Jethro, although not realistic in terms of layout, but fun in the 65s. Looking forward to it.

I was going to 'offer' you a BT7 this season Hristo, since its a slightly slower chassis...  What are the differences between the layout of this Imola and a realistic sixties Imola?

Gary would be very welcome, as would any new recruits- RSC has disappeared at just the wrong time for the beginning of a new season.

Tamburello's quite tight (it's not normally), the barrier should be closer to the outside of the corner since the river practically runs right alongside it. Other than that, it seems pretty faithful. Piratella might be a little inaccurate.

1:38 for Hristo means unless people fall off the track, I ain't gonna have a hope in hell of a good result. Cheesy

I think the BT7 is faster actually, except on the straights, it's really bad on those. Up to you though, as long as the whole field is balanced.

What I meant about the layout is that track width, straight lengths, corner radius, surface camber and so on are not correct. The whole shape is just about proper, but quite wrong as you zoom in, heh. Take Imola 94 and pre-94, remove the the chicanes and you get the 60s version. There was some video of Clark going around it on Youtube actually, looked picturesque with all the green vegetation and lack of concrete/railguard walls, but it doesn't show many corners. I used to work on a Imola 94 project and spent an year and a half just doing the layout trying to get it as realistic as possible and it still wasn't perfect, but eventually I abandoned it. Was good fun to drive on though.

There are onboards on Youtube, the differences are the 60s Imola had no Acqua Minerale chicane (it was something like it is today), there were no Variante Alta and Variante Basa chicanes, no final chicane either. The old road is noticeable on videos going from Rivazza in a fast right towards the s/f line.

Yeah Jethro, ditto. Really do enjoy Imola, but 2 spins on consecutive laps at Rivazza were disappointing. Sorry Tim for spinning in front of you and causing you to biff me. The jousting with Dave and Jethro and chasing Phil down near the end were good fun too. I'd like to see Imola included in the season this time around.

Great track for racing those 65s. I had an ok start from pole, but the sheer power of Natan's BRM got him through so I had to follow and wait for an opportunity to pass. It wasn't quite possible as he was always pulling away on the straights, even when I was in his slipstream. I had to brake hard to avoid him once and that let one of the Hondas (Clive I think) through but he binned it on the next lap on the exit of Acqua Minerale. Eventually I had a good run on Natan towards Tosa and passed him, but then braked too late a few corners after and went off. After that the gap to 1st was some 7 seconds so it took awhile to reduce that. When I closed up on Natan I had to think of a way to negate his engine power advantage and the best place seemed to be the exit of Tamburello where he always went in too fast and that compromised his exit thus losing him alot of speed. So I lifted up a bit before the corner and then floored it for a good exit, got alongside him and in the braking at Villeneuve I took the outside line and it worked properly.

That was a fun race although I really need to check to analyser to see where I'm losing so much time. During quali I found the barriers at Tosa particullaly appealing but at least I managed 5th on the grid. When the start began me and Geoff began a drag race to the Tosa hairpin and I managed to grab the inside line. 4th then became 3rd once Clive and his Honda went cross country.

The rest of the race was rather quiet. I kept noticing cars catching up to me in my mirrors but they fell victim to Imola's barriers. It was only when approaching the last 2 laps did things get really interesting when Gary began to hound me in his Cooper. It was a good job the BRM had the grunt advantage otherwise he would have passed me with ease. I was much slower through the bends but the Cooper just couldn't find a way through. So, all in all, a good result with 3rd. The track was good to drive if not entirely accurate. Would be happy to race on it in Season 17.

Love the track, need practice...

Think you need to update your analyser as well so that you have the correct chassis names.

Mine says version 7.8 beta 5 if that is any help.

That gives the correct car names in 65 and copes with the 16 cars in 66mod as well.

Think you need to update your analyser as well so that you have the correct chassis names.
Mine says version 7.8 beta 5 if that is any help.
That gives the correct car names in 65 and copes with the 16 cars in 66mod as well.

Checked and I have 7.7 - all searches for 7.8 lead to RSC which is down. Anyone know where else to get it?
