Hello everyone,

Haven't been round for a long time - got bored driving round in circles and "retired" from GPL and LFS.

Anyway, interest was piqued by Targa. Immense, but I'll never learn it. However, I do know the IOM TT Course like the back of my hand as I drive part of it every day on the way to work. Does anyone have any info on how complete the full track is? I can't find an update since Sep 08 and I can't drive the short version as I keep getting suprised by how short the straights are and ending up in a hedge.

Cheers

As far as I know he's working on it - bit like Targa, hang on as it is worth it

Yes Jim is still beavering away but he wont be pressured in to stating any sort of expected release date. Don't worry though, the wait will be well worth it. A few years ago during one of Jim's visits to the IOM he walked the vast majority of the course and took pictures of every individual building on the trackside. He has now converted every one in to a 3do and is currently working his way round the course placing them accurately where they should be. The actual road layout has been complete for sometime now and I gave what assistance I could to make it as accurate as possible. Jim had initially used OS map info as a basis for the routing, but typically virtually as he had it just about sorted then IOM became available in hi res on Google Earth!! Anyway when he overlayed it on Google Earth it was pretty much spot on, save for a few tweaks here and there.

So be patient and just sit and wait. I know what you mean about the short version. Ever since Jim got his very first alpha versions going of the full length track, both he and I have not been able to drive the short track, we may as well delete it.

Thanks for the info. Wasn't expecting to be given a release date, but it is good to know that a) It's still being worked on and b) The chap doing it obviously cares very much and I'm sure the finished product will be extremely high standard.

If it is all I'm hoping for then he can expect a very reasonable donation. For now, back to practicing on the real thing!

No, but my diesed Beemer produces about the same power as 65 cars, and the power goes to the correct wheels, so that's a start  Wink

Jim has already said he doesn't want any money for himself but he does intend to set up a donation link to one of the charitable organisations associated with the IOM, like the Rob Vine helicopter fund.
