Hi guys,

Im new to GPL after having WTCC and Live for Speed as my mainstay. Im really impressed with the physics engine, especially considering this thing's age. The only thing im finding weird is the throttle and to put it plainly - it refuses to wheelspin. It behaves like its got traction control set to max. I dont know if its because im using the keyboard, but soon as the rear end starts to slide it refuses to allow any wheelspin which makes it impossible to control it with the throttle. Even if i rev it to max and drop the clutch in 1st it bogs down and refuses to play along

Any ideas how to fix this?

Keyboard! EEEAK!  Shocked

Make sure you have auto throttle off and you are using the 'grand prix' car not the novice or advanced trainer.

Recommend getting a wheel when you can, some good stuff on ebay for pretty reasonable prices.  I know some have used keyboard to some success previously but must be very hard work to get any good pace.

IF you have discovered a way of driving GPL WITHOUT  wheelspin, then you must be a driving god!!!

I suspect that as Steve has said, you have all the "help" boxes ticked and maybe you are not using the full GP car.

The outlay for a steering wheel and pedals is an absolute must Desmond. GPL is still "probably" ( like Carling) the best racing Sim around and the toughest to really master.
If you intend to join in the online races,( and you will be made more than welcome here at UKGPL) you will need the level of control that a wheel will give you. Plus of course , you can use it with any of WTCC or Live for Speed as well Wink.

Check out e-bay for some reasonable deals, or if you have the finance  Roll Eyes you can purchase a nice shiny new one.  Grin

I just purchased a G25 for £112 on ebay,  Grin

But I'm not allowed to use it 'til me buffday.  :'(

Course, I had to try it out so I could leave feedback din't I?

I reckon the reason that so many people go faster with the G25 is down to the effort of pressing the brake pedal!  I may have to tether my chair to the desk.

Yeah I would recommend getting a wheel too, my G25 was £100 on eBay and hasn't given me any trouble.

Using a FF wheel and pedal set is like playing a totally different game to using keys. You're not getting the full GPL experience at the moment, so if you can afford it, do it!

Well the tree will handle better than the Honda, unless the latter is resting on its roll bar!

I believe traction control is automatically implemented in GPL if you use digital controls (ie on/off like kb keys).
