As usual for 65s we are again allocating drivers with a chassis to use throughout the season. The only permitted changes will be those agreed by the moderator. We want to promote good close racing and an exciting Championship so anybody either running away with it or falling behind will be considered for a change of chassis either up or down.

To give drivers some free choice in the chassis they drive for the season we have split the cars into groups based on average performance and split the drivers into groups based on average ability. The chassis numbers for Novices are as follows:

NOVICE CHASSIS GROUPS
1 - Lotus, Ferrari, BRM, Honda
2 - BT11
3 - Cooper
4 - BT7

Each driver has been given a seeding number and must pick a chassis with either an equal number or higher number but not a lower number. For example, if a driver is given a seeding of 2, he must pick one of the cars in group 2 (BT11) but if he would prefer to drive either the Cooper or BT7 he may do so. This means that a driver given a seeding of 1 can pick any chassis he prefers.

**NOTE**
Whichever chassis a driver begins race 1 with is the chassis he must use for the remainder of the season unless a change has been agreed with the moderator.

The driver seedings are as follows:

NOVICE DRIVERS AND GROUPS
RESERVES
1 karliss
1 Nigel Smith

FULL TIME
3 Roguk
2 Burtoner
2 maestro
1 GPoole
1 Vosblod
1 bookie
1 happyal
1 billy
1 norbert
1 nhance
1 sharkfin
1 il_lupo
1 gilles27
1 D Rock
3 maddog

If you have any questions about the allocations please post them here rather than in the division registration thread.

Thank you.

After my initial confusion over Novices v Amateurs, here I am going for a season in the Honda, if at all possible.I find the spins are more benign.

Mike,

I'm considering taking the Honda for Wigram, as I can't find a set-up for the Lotus for that track. Usually I just take a set-up from the track database when I download the track, but it looks like the only 65s set-up they have for Wigram is for the Honda.

The Honda is in the same chassis group as the Lotus, do you have any objections to me using it? Also, would I be allowed to change back to the Lotus or am I then committed to the Honda for the rest of the season?

Alternatively, if anyone can donate a Lotus set-up I'd be grateful.

Thanks,

Ross

Ross, I'd suggest looking at the track and getting a setup from a similar track.  I have no idea what wigram is like, never driven it but look for a better used track that is similar and use that setup if you wish to stick with the Lotus.

Ross, you have a couple of options, I would prefer people not switching chassis, even for a supposedly slower one.

(1) You can find a similar track to Wigram as Steve says and grab a setup for that then you should only have to adjust gears and cambers perhaps.
(2) You could download the Honda setup and rename it to become a Lotus setup. All you have to do is change the file extension from .mu1 to .lo1 and it will be a Lotus setup, though you will need to adjust the gears as the Honda has 6 to the 5 in the Lotus.

Your best bet by far though is to find a setup you like for any track and balance it how you like and then use it for every track changing only the gears and the cambers as you go. Then you only have to learn the circuit layout as you know what the car will do because you are used to it.

For option 1 you could try the Westwood setup you used as the circuit is not too dissimilar in layout and speed or maybe try one of mine, maybe the Watkins one.

Thanks guys, the consensus seems to be that I should try an existing Lotus setup, and alter the gear ratios to fit Wigram.

I guess this set-up business isn't quite as complex as I thought  Smiley

I use the same base setup and alter the gears and roll bars for each circuit plus maybe the camber if the tyres overheat.
I usually take the initial gearing from a setup on the track database then use that - as you say there isn't one for Wigram so I'm starting from scratch. You could have one of my base setups but might not suit you.
The two help sheets here are pretty useful for setup newbies ; http://www.srworld.eu/contenido-4.6.8/cms/front_content.php?idart=211
