A screw up is pretty obvious and it shouldn't really gain you much time, so just continue as normal, but let someone by if you passed them that way.

Unless you begin to "screw up" consistently on each lap (which would tell you do it on purpose), I don't see a problem.

Sound advice H.  Keeping at least 2 wheels on the track is a sensible guideline.  If someone screws up and gets past on the grass, then getting back on the tarmac will be classed as a rejoin.  In this situation I would expect a driver to heed the normal rules and rejoin carefully.  That would include letting through the driver you passed whilst on the grass BEFORE you get back on the tarmac. 

We generally don't ask drivers to let people through after an incident as it can create confusion, but this assumes both drivers are still on the track.

After upgrading GEM+ I can only run what appears to be the 69 mod.  I say "appears to be" because the physics seems like the 67 version with only the 69 car graphics.

This happens if I use GEM set to 67 or if I click the GPL.exe or click the GPLc67.exe.  I can not find a way to get the 67 title screen and car graphics to show.  Also, when I click the Donington race in iGOR I can join even though it is a 67 race.  My car looks like a 69 but I'm in 67 race.  I thought iGOR would not let you join with the wrong mod.  That's why I think the 67 physics is running.  Plus it just feels like the 67 physics.

Not sure what is happening here but I've had strange things happen too.  To be honest I can't remember how I fixed it but I think it was to do with the season.ini files.  I had to make the season.ini files all the same (i.e. 67season.ini file = 65season.ini file = 66season.ini file = 69season.ini file) and that sorted it (I think).

We run Graduates in iGOR. Instructions are around here somewhere to set it up properly.

After doing an OK qualifying lap, I was trying all manner of things to keep the unruly Honda on track in the race. Managed to sneak past Al on the run to old Hairpin, and settled into 5th behind Hristo, a wild Brabham, another Honda and a Cooper. After a few laps, the Brabham fell off at T1, so I ended up 4th. Tried to keep it that way, but the car was just wheel-spinning at almost every opportunity. I also couldn't get the car slowed down late enough for the chicane or most of the corners, which is a bad thing here. Mosport setup probably not a good idea in hindsight.

After the Brabham had overtaken Al, he set his sights on me. Except I don't give in that easily! </joke> It was fair racing, but on the exit of Coppice a lap later, the car tried spinning to the inside, so I hit the brakes to stop it doing so, which may have forced him off-track. Apologies if that was the case, it was not intentional!

Not long after that, just tootling down the start-finish straight, when a phone call from my boss appeared to make the engine blow in 4th. Cause was listed as "Header". I reckon "sabotage" might be more appropriate! The apparant wheel-spinning had made the Honda cry "enough" and leave several bits on Starkey's straight. Irony was, I'd not broken an engine all through pre-race practice.

Oh well, on to the next one.

Bit disappointed to be so far off the pace.  Messed it up anyway, but it was shaping up to be one of the most boring races I'd had, so probably a blessing.

I'll miss nurby as away on business.

I had this one in the bag, but threw it away after spinning and hitting the wall out of T4 (or 5?), the fast left hand kink. Hit the wall with the right hand side of the car and continued, but the handling became terrible. The car was sliding all over the place, eventually overheating the rears tremendously.

I could lap fairly fast for 2-3 laps before the car became undriveable and was just spinning every time I turned the steering wheel. Dropped down to 4th or so before going off terminally, ripping off a wheel.

It was a bit boring up front, but that's no excuse for losing concentration.

Hope Evil won as he took the lead from me, so SHE would be pleased non the less!

My race was actually a tad boring, Took the 'safe' bet of a Cooper as I wanted a few more tokens in the bank and found myself on only 5th in practice as I couldn't throw a suitably Banzai lap down the entire course....

Jumped Al at the start, got scared silly by the sight of a Honda looming large in my mirrors into T1 - thankfully I survived and haired off in persuit of Clive's Waza-mobile now upto 4th.
Stayed in 4th for the first few laps until Bob fell off ahead some 10laps in and was bumped to 3rd, next excitement was another 10 laps or so in when he caught me again and tried to pass. I guess he span it under braking as he was inside and I didn't hit anything, but one moment I was fighting for 3rd and the next Bob was 400+ yds behind me 

Then Hristo had his off and I gained 2nd, which lasted until Bob activated his secret Hyperjets and blasted past me on what was probably my only real mistake of the race - I hoped he and Evil would do the Decent thing but it failed to materialise so I took a hard fought 3rd

It's all a plot, I tell ye - my first On-line race as a Graduate, and I flunked!  A brief tale for those who experience a similar difficulty with IGOR.

I was all set, and ready to don a Donington helmet, and in the excitement, I chose the wrong server.  Sort of like jumping into the wrong car by mistake.  But with lightning fast reactions of an F1 ilk, (whats an ilk?) I realised my mistake, and instantly returned to IGOR  . . . only to find the interface had suddenly gone missing?  It was zooming off the toolbar, and out beyond max res.  Grumbling time commenced   . . . !

It took a half hour to decide this was not just a nightmare, conjure up a dummy igor install, try the exe, and the inis, and finally cut and paste the section that specifies the Widows window orientation, for proper IGOR display.  And you guessed it, after all that, the race had just started!

So, when jumping in and out of servers rapidly, I'd recommend first backing up your IGOR.ini file.  Or else, if you front runners would like to slow down a little, I'd be less likely to seek solitude elsewhere.  "Can you spare me an ini guv, I'm only a Private!?"

August 2008 to April 2010 - 20 months to you and me. I have won my first race WHOOPEE. Shame the champagne went out of date and we had to drink it on New Years eve.

First off, commiserations to Mike T - it was his in the bag and mine by default, sure your time will come...
Default or not a win is a win so, even though I was hoping for third I will grab this one, hopefully the first of many. I noticed most went out via crashes and not disco's. Felt like an endurance race to me.

Anyway I had a few weeks off then hit Donny at 19's so took qually as my learning curve and was pleased to get 13's. I flunked the start and, tbh, the race was boring but there you go.

See you at the next one, Nurby??? 

PS: Who is Ray Cattini? And how did you get the race password?

A bit careful start where JW got by me and I safed a bit much into T1 so Pod sneaked up my side and passed me as well. I got my position back after some laps and spent 30-40 laps with Pod a 100 yards behind me. I managed to hold that position up to finish(5th) after Al who I gave up catching allthough we were not far off in pace.

Ray Cattini Is Ronnie and I got the password from where I was told it would be. Congratulations to you anyway. Must have overheated the engine in qulayfying because for it go on the third lap of the race was grim on my part (missed gaer what an idiot). See you at the Ring where its only six laps............but long ones!

I managed to edge into pole position ahead of Bernie but had a poor start and found myself in P3 at the end of the start straight. After Ray (I think it was) had an off I found myself in P2 and had some close racing with Bernie for a few laps until Bernie ran wide and I moved into P1. Then the first of the technical mishaps -  a black screen (caused I think by the default W7 screen shutdown mode) which took a few seconds to sort out by which time Bernie had caught up with me. A few more closely fought laps followed which culminated in us touching wheels going through the chicane. We both emerged unscathed with Bernie in the lead and myself in hot pursuit until I thought I was close and fast enough to attempt a pass but it didn't work out as smoothly as I had hoped and led to Bernie's retirement. I managed to survive another another black screen episode (thank heaven for Donington's wide open spaces) and was about to start my last lap looking forward to my first victory for 6 years when the screen froze and VB roared to victory as the last man standing.

I think others suffered screen freezes and technical issues marring what was otherwise a very enjoyable event at a great track.
