Moderator's Report

Dave Randall took his first win of the season in this eventful race. Fulvio did a impressive recovery race to snap second form Al at the last lap.

There were no incidents reported for this event but maybe it should have been.

There are two issues that need to be discussed.

First, an incident report is about bringing an incident to the moderator`s attention. The incident is then looked into and discussed among the mod team to see if any action need to be taken to futher improve the allready high standard of driving here at UKGPL. Sometime there are violations against the rules and penaltys will be handed out but that should not be the main reason to submit a incident report.

There will be a minor change in the race announcements thread.

”Moderating will be by reported incidents only, however the moderator reserve the right to review any incident with a particular emphasise on lap one.”

Will be changed to ”the moderator will review any incident on lap one,”

Then there is the matter of high risk driving.
Make sure that if you like to take big risks in your driving, please do that when you are alone on the track.
Absolute not at the beginning of the race when there are a lot of cars around you, and you are on race fuel and cold tires. Also keep in mind that you just before the start, in quali, was on warm tires with a low fuel car. It is a good idea to at the end of quali do some race fuel, cold tires tests. Only make sure you do not get in the way of anybody else of cause.

Look at the hole picture of the race. The race is rather long, 27 laps this time, if you by taking big risks manage to gain some positions at the start of the race how are you going to keep that position if the drivers you passed are faster than you? On the other hand the possibility of ruin someones race, maybe your own, is very high.

It has been said over and over but it need to be said again it seems: To finish first, first you have to finish.

Now, for the 3rd round of the Historic Throphy, should have been 4th of cause but.......... we go to Mexico. The well known papy track should not give anybody andy problems right? Well anyway all are wellcome.

There will be chassis restrictions for this one based on the championship standings. Se below.

Please restrict chat to a minimum, (or maybe none).

Moderating will be by reported incidents only, however the moderator reserve the right to review any incident with a particular emphasise on lap one. Please submit incident reports within a week after the race so that the moderators report may be out before the next race.

Best of luck.

Still no iGOR race list so I guess we will have to connect direct to the server IP 62.149.202.168

Remember to pic the right car in GEM+ and go to multiplayer and connect using PW and IP address.

We meet in iGOR chat as usually some time before 21.00 UK time.

I have a spare evening so think I will give this a go - not very experienced with the 66's but will keep out of your way  Wink
I've put myself in as a reserve.

What a total waste of time. I had to endure through the problems with the server and Qualifying running more than half an hour later just so Bartosz could take me out at T1 despite having half a track for himself on the inside. My McLaren was obviously no match for the other cars on the start, so I lost a couple of positions, but some people just refuse to realize they can't win on lap 1... I'm disgusted with this.

And BTW, when you warp badly, it's YOUR responsibility to make sure and keep a distance from other cars, so don't dare blame warp contact for erratic driving.

Really enjoyed this one . good feel good float. A bit stressy start with Dave close behind and a mishift (5th instead of 3 rd) gave him a free chance to pass as I fiddled with getting it back quick.Guess he would have got me sooner or later anyway but once behind him the float was really good and I had advantage of the slip. Don t think I would managed to win but I matched Daves speed (when behind at least) and it would have been exciting. then disconnect. The air totally out of gpl balloon now. Next race I m on vacation. I ll give it one more try and if it happens again I go back to my old screen resolution. No idea why it would matter but thats the only thing I ve changed since this started to happen.I was good at spec and I hoped it was that fix I forgot to put in castle combe was the reason for my dc there.Good luck to the rest. At least I ll get to drive cooper next season too it seem Smiley

Well a few problems that delayed the start. Goran was not to blame and did a brilliant job under the circumstances, we found there are issues with the best way to start this mod with no IGOR racelist and the only way to sort it was trial and error (thanks Fulvio) - come back racelist  Undecided

Anyway, firstly I have to retract my partial statement to Paul that setups don't count. I had 40 mins to try the mod on this (not my favorite) track before the event and the only setup I had was for the Lotus 43. Try as I might I was stuck at 1.59. Just before the start Al H kindly gave me his setup and immediately in Qually I got a 1.53 which at least meant I might get some racing.
I think the moral is stick with a good base setup and work on your driving first but admit when you have an appallingly bad setup and change it LOL.

So the race; Quallied at the lower end but looked like I might have some fun. Got an OK start and I was aware Goran was on my right down the straight, plan was to ease in behind him. Suddenly I saw Hristo facing the wrong way and did my best to get round safely but clipped Goran's back end in the process - big apology, did my best at evasive action.
After that I was out of sorts, chewed the gravel and got stuck for good - short inaugural 66 for me.

PS: not commenting on your incident H but check the server replay too - my one showed warp.

I'm sorry Hristo that your race ended like this, but you will not provoke me to discuss it on forum. Wait for server replay and report incident.

Decent histerical result for once , though mostly down to retirements  Cheesy Was P4 at one time then made a pigs ear of corner after polo straight and almost got stuck in the bunker , lost 2 or 3 places then had a great time time chasing Phil down managed to get the tow down the straight and just squeezed past him as he ran a little wide going into T2 .

Grats to the Pods and commiserations to the rest

Thanks for the fun,  was worth all the start up hassles , I'm still way down in the 66 rank and file , need to do better  Roll Eyes

I seemed to have a bit of a warpy connection in qually so I disconnected and reconnected but still seemed bad.  Since I qualified mid pack I didn't want to cause problems at the start so I decided to start from the pit lane.

Start was OK for me, but I was 15 seconds behind the last man before I even got going LOL.  No problem though, within a couple of laps I started to get of the back of the pack. Made some progress mainly through people crashing or spinning.  At one stage I got up to 5th and was challenging Goran but I managed to spin and lost ground.  So with about 15 laps to go I decided to try to manage the gap back to Bernie who I'd passed earlier whilst he was in the gravel at T3.  Bernie had other ideas and started to close me down.  With 5 laps to go I still felt confident of staying ahead.  With 3 laps to go I was getting a bit worried.  With 2 laps to go I ran wide in T1 and Bernie nipped through on the inside.  Red mist down but I couldn't catch him, Bernie had a good hundred yards on me when we crossed the line.

Nice racing Bernie.  If you were sweating in your loft in this weather you must have been trying!  clap

Less said about the race, the better. Picked my way through the early mess and after a lap or two noticed my pitboard [ still cant get Prib working perfectly] said 4th. What, hey, a mistake surely. Whatever the reason my race went to pieces. A couple of stupid spins and I soon found my position gone. Then the middle of the race was awful, and I resolved to get to the finish, which I eventually did.
Technical question for Guru's- went to check my replay and it crashed GPL. Checked other replay's , they are fine apart from those saved under my 66mod, all of which crash GPL. Anyone able to point me towards a solution?
Well done to the podium and all the others able to enjoy a race.

Aha. I may have a partial answer to my own question. I can watch my replay through GEM-GPL, but not through GPL alone.

To see any mod with GPL alone you have to set it hitting the Vroc button before, so he builds even the GPL.exe with the right mod.

Fulvio is right, but there's an even easier way, try opening your gpl directory in Explorer, which should be C:\SIERRA\gpl, and doubleclick on gplc66.exe .

It sounds like your trying to open a 1966 mod replay with your 1967 standard installation. This won't work since there are more than seven cars in the 1966 mod. 1965 and 1969 mods will open no problem even if you see the wrong cars in action.

Tom.
