hi
wanted to start a topics about "HOME TRACKS"
so maybe GPL racers can share they real life home tracks or "home track" where they love to race most. What is a first track where you go and test unknown car or compare setup, something like that, but preferable do you have "your OWN GPL TRACK" ?

as for me, i live near real life race track.
and long time wanted to build a GPL track , and also started to learn tutorial for future project to build one old time track in my home town
but few days ago i found, that track already is built buy some other guy from other country (Gaus from Ukraine), with help of some guys from my city.
so iam lucky that  saved tons of time...tons of millions of hours.
and here it is
BIKERNIEKI , RIGA
http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=6146

and here is a link with pictures with real F1 car racing in it:

Will have to have a look at that one - do you know if it's been tried and tested online?

As regards a Home Track, barring Goodwood which is 40 minutes away, I guess Silverstone as went to see quite a few F1 races there in the past. The first tracks I go for in testing are Monza or Silvy as that is where I spent many hours practicing with Billy while we were cutting our GPL teeth.

It's been raced on quite a lot Tim, It's actually one I was considering for next season in the Am's as it's very nice  Smiley (You'll have to convince Mike to pick it for Nov's aswell Karliss Wink )

My own local circuit in real life is Castle Combe where I've driven everything from 1.6 Ford Focus' to (my old)  300bhp Nissan 200sx (rear wheel drive - so much fun!  Grin), to my Westfield 7 (it blew up!) and formula fords  Cool

My favourite track for testing out new cars in GPL is probably the GPLEA's Clermont Ferrand. It's great fun and has a bit of everything  Smiley

My local track is the Isle of Man TT course, I don't think the GPL version has been finished yet. When it is released I think we should do a race there, I'll park outside my house Smiley

It looks nice, so if there is no problem with screen freeze, it gets my vote for next season.

The Isle of Man track is available from it's makers site, here : http://jrpearson.homestead.com/GPLCIRCUITS.html   It's well put together, with the possibility of a full length version in the future.  This one is ONLY around 15 miles around!

EDIT :

I've uploaded a clip, showing the Lotus attempting to navigate the course, for those who've not tried the track, and are curious.  http://vimeo.com/21113763

I find it really hard to drive the short version, as I know the real road quite well it would take ages for me to learn the shorten version, I'd perfer to wait for the long version.

I'm not far from Aintree but the nearest is the 3 Sisters (about 5 miles) more of a big go cart track , but they have bikes and cars there too and its fun to drive .

Not far is Oulton Park the finest race track in the world and a real gas to drive there , ive also driven Mallory Park Donington Park and Nurburgring ( a long time ago )

Nurby is my favoutite for GPL practise as its always a challenge to get around in one piece 2nd would be Kialami . some day I hope to be negative at both these tracks , although I did once own the world record for Nurby in the Coop for some years  Roll Eyes

(I finally deleted it cos the time was a bit warp assisted but it looked good on my CV )  Grin

The nearest to my home is Brands Hatch - been going there ever since I was a kid & still think it's one of the best circuits to watch motor racing. You can sit in the open stand at Paddock Bend & see the whole club circuit.

Closest, Castle Combe.

Favorite, Donington Park.

Would most like to visit IOM TT;  might have to rent a patch of Al's lawn one year Wink.  And Assen.

I know its fictitious, but as far as GPL goes, I really enjoy Efexx and also Oulton Park.

The nearest racing track to my home is Kielce: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qf4GwtEnBx8 But because part of that track in a public road, it's quite difficult to organise races out there. Last race in Kielce was organised in 2008r

Second closest track in Brno, third closest in Poznań: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRUWSRrG4xk&feature=player_embedded ATM this is only open race track in Poland  Roll Eyes
