Moderator's Report

The Porsche Super Cup has proven very popular and we hope to see a long season of close racing.

Sebring was a nice easy introduction to the series with airport runways being used as part of the track, allowing for simple overtaking manouevres in these cars which may as well not have mirrors at all.

Two phrases spring to mind:
(1) To finish first, first you have to finish.
(2) Don't hit your team mate.

Oops!

Server replay time: 0h01m18s

Geoff looks to pass Steve Bird on the inside going into Tower Turn.

Jonny O sees the move developing and aims to follow Geoff through but Geoff decides against it and JonnyO misjudges his braking point and speed and shunts Geoff from behind.

There is clear contact but the incident also seem to be slightly warp affected from the reaction of Geoff's car.

Server replay time: 0h01m18s

Cookie passes Ronnie on the inside at Tower Turn.

Cookie had no overlap at turn in and Ronnie had every right to the racing line.

Cookie should have conceded the corner, especially as the two are team mates, and this is a team based series.

Both continue unaffected.

My race report:  MESSED IT UP! Again!

Clearly I need to start pushing more in some areas if I want to get faster as what I'm doing now clearly isn't working if I need to find so much time after this amount of driving in GPL and still making stupid errors that waste all the practise.

Strange how your POV is so dependent on where you are on the learning curve. I got a 2:56 in practice and was really chuffed but I truly do not know where you find 11 seconds. I can't believe that it was entirely down to lack of pace out of the corners. What sort of top speeds where you achieving? I was nowhere near the speeds I could get at Reims and yes the straights are shorter but the exits are quicker.

Is that 11 seconds all down to lack of driving talent or is my setup knackering me as well?

I know Tom thought I needed to be braver but I was finding that I just couldn't make the corner - possibly I am just not turning in early enough. If it is bad for you Steve, try my end of the grid Wink

I suspect that it is a little of both Paul. At Sebring, the speed that you carry through almost all corners is gaining time all along the following straight.

I find that to go fast I need confidence, and to give me confidence, I need a setup that allows me to push hard through the corners without any nasty surprises. When I don't get any nasty shocks, I have the confidence to try a little harder and the speed increases. Even now, I find that I am changing my driving style to brake a little sooner and concentrate on getting the power down earlier and more smoothly which has meant adapting my setups to allow the car to respond as I want it to.

So one thing is dependent upon the other.

The trick in all this, is finding the type of setup that works for the driving style you have right now. It will change over time and so will the setups you use.
Some people like the Steve Cloyd setups, which are undoubtedly fast in the right hands, but not in mine  Undecided I cannot keep his setups on the tarmac at anywhere near his pace. His Porsche setup in his hands is 4 seconds faster than my PB around Sebring, so it obviously suits his style??

The other thing that I suffer from, is trying too hard and not easing/caressing the car through the corners without breaking the traction by sudden application of gas or brakes. All little things that add up over the course of a lap I'm afraid.
In other words, it comes down to practice and more practice and experimentation. Wink

Whilst the car is still fresh I've been to Paul Ricard for a trot around. Is there a problem with this track does anyone know? Every time I watch a replay, on or offline, as the car negotiates the last turn....GPL CTD's. Every time, bar none. Is this worth investigating further before we try to race it online? We don't need more mass disco's.
Geoff.

UPDATE: It seems the problem only exists in TV1 and 2. Onboard and chase view so far have both been fine. I'm not using Prib at the moment Mike, so that shouldn't be an issue. I may have the full updates installed for this track....So I'll do a full re-install of the track minus updates and report back. If it's fine after the re-install, could it be a problem with updated camera files?

UPDATE 2: It looks like a problem with the camera file only. After a re-install it still CTD's only on TV1 &TV2......all others are fine. And driving it alone on Cookie's server with my less than perfect connection it seemed fine..no dramas to report.Should we give it a test race first before we swap to that horrible Bugatti thing. That reeks more than an excess of garlic in the Escargot.......

I've not raced Paul Richard enough to vouch for it, but experience the same problem at Hockenheim.  From the cockpit, Hockenheim seems fine, so don't hock it 'til you try it?

Is it the pit lane/prib issue Geoff?

I will host some practise sessions for it this week.

Again, I'm against the use of Paul Ricard. It's been notorious with causing screen freeze in multiple league races in the past, including BREASTS and UKGPL.

I did some laps in Ricard today with no problems at all.
But my hometrack Hockenheim suddenly was getting problems, couldnt finish one session without a freeze. On my server with 36fps as well as on the Funliga with 60fps. Can it be one or some of the track addons?
Will try Hockene again with a basic install!
Never had this before...

If there is someone on here that is remotely human with 2 arms and 2 legs that's faster I would like to go faster. Whether I will ever achieve that aim or not is a lifetime away.

You can't judge if the track is OK or not by doing a few laps on your own. Problems occur when it's run online with a decent field... The majority of tracks which are black listed work just fine when you practice offline or on a practice server with a handful of people.

I tested Hockene with full addons (looking nice and realistic!) could not do 2 consecutive laps without freeze, even on my own server!
Ton8 with Martin and another guy with basic install of track no probs but one disco on Funliga server 60fps.

We will have a race there with Funliga on May 12, 20:00 CET (19:00 UK) with GTs.
Its open practice race, so I invite you all to test the track with 60fps.

Hope to see all of you to make the grid full!

Geoff, I was very upset by touch. Embarrassed

Unfortunately destroy his race, who is behind have to be careful, I'm sorry.

It was a typical situation, there were two cars to divide the curve and I had full view of this dispute.
would be logical that one of you would have to brake more, and I should have guessed that.

My race was a little lonely, walked much of the evidence alone and made a mistake more serious at the end of a line, my car skidded off the runway and crashed into a hay, but I managed to stay in the race, albeit with a slower pace because of the accident.

But it's great, really wanted to finish the race.

Are there any problems with the replays?
I saved it after the race but not the practice
