It's not enough to just apply it, you have to set different values for the network parameters in core.ini. As I said yesterday (and in another race before when we used your server), cars were popping out of thin air in my mirrors, which definitely doesn't happen on the other servers we use.

The settings specifically being?... and I'll check
I assume that you mean the server net_mdm_send parameter. We set this to 132 by override when hosting a race via iGOR. The maximum value is 384 (I believe) which would draw all 19 cars at once. That might lead to significant frame drop however. 132 allows the drawing of 8 other cars simultaneously. I am not certain how this works since I can always see all the cars in front of me on the grid. Which is usually more than 10!
Last night because we were not going via iGOR it would have gone back to the core.ini default of 100 which should still allow 6 other cars.
The values are somewhat anachronisitic since they are based on modem dial up speeds.
132 is the UKGPL standard which I have never really questioned.

Hello Roberto (Vianna) I will be far from my computer on 26/08 (holidays in Vittel, East of France, like Spa a well known "Water" city) so the entire LOL'2 team count on you ! Good luck I will be present then. Happy holidays. Thanks for the opportunity.

I've also now modified the patch level to draw a maximum of four cars behind where it was two. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

@All It seems there is a mistake in the link " http://ftp://ukgpl3.dyndns.org", you have to delete the first "http://" to make the link functioning or copy/paste and modify it just on the address bar of your browser.

That is the forum code trying to be clever and failing spectacularly. As you say, drop the http part and start ftp:/...

I'm not talking about cars drawn in front, but in the mirrors. GPL's default is 1, and on your server I never saw more than 2 at the same time, so they were appearing out of nowhere. I've also now modified the patch level to draw a maximum of four cars behind where it was two. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
Ah, I just read that. BTW, for overall number of drawn cars, 8 seems rather low to me. Have we always used that number in UKGPL? I remember starting from the back and seeing the whole field up in front of me.

The patch was set to draw 2 behind which was wrong. GPL's draw code by default allows a 75%/25% split in car drawing which would equate to 14 in front and 4 behind. It does seem a little odd but 4 behind seems to be the limit.
As to drawing eight cars only which would normally split 6/2 that is what we always apply. Doesn't actually seem to work like that off the grid though...

You mean 12/4? I guess that's what we've always used perhaps.

For many years, 6/2 was the standard mirror draw. It was put in place, to help stressed systems cope. If it's no longer needed, to keep things running smoothly, let's put some more cars in. That way some of us Client's will escape the back of the field, after the event. Umm . . . . right!

No - it really is 6/2.

You said 14/4, but if it's 75%/25% it should be 12/4, that's what I meant. And I believe we've not used 6/2 in UKGPL for a LONG time, if at all, since I joined.

See what you mean but the net send set to 132 implies a draw of 8 cars. That would split 6/2. Each increase in 16 adds a new car. I am not sure if the mods have modified the draw code but according to the read me with the latest BW patch 8 cars is what you get. Not sure how that plays with the rasterisers but it obviously does have an effect since with the patch set to 2 behind you were getting cars 'popping up'.
It is strange though because I am pretty sure I have seen more than that drawn... I can only assume that the client draws its own cars so the client replay can potentially show all nineteen cars if the core ini is so set but the server can only draw eight. Confused now...

Mine draw's what it sees online. And I meant default GPL mirror draw of 6/2, and not default UKGPL mirror draw. The result of my fault, was confusion, so no need to draw things out further.
