So Fran, you can add points for todays race (9-6-4-3-2-1), you do the math!
Had only little practise but the more laps, the better it went. Sorry to Phil for ending his qualifying run, simply missed my brakemarker, no excuse. For the rest there was a lot of traffic. Towards the end improved and just got P2.
Was able to hold P2 after the start, but on Lap 2 had a lapse and went straight through at Country, losing a lot of time and trackposition, but the car was still OK I think...then found a good rhythm and had to be patient when catching up with a car in front. Phil and Andy were really courteous, thanks. Caught up with Iestyn who started to turn up a notch. After a few laps he made a mistake into Waterway, made a great save, but lost momentum. This allowed me to go to the inside and passing him at Anchor Crossing. Then pushed a bit more, but Iestyn almost matched me. Tristan then was gone from the pitboard, bad luck again.
Last lap had to make a decision to lap Andreas pushing it through at Cottage, hope you understand my unpatience.
My mistake made for a inspired drive to make the best out of it, and always good to beat the likes of Iestyn, even in a better car.
Well done mate, and Andy as well. Also good job Phil, Fran and Andreas finishing in the points. Not too many finishers sadly, a lot of problems and attrition it seems. Commiserations!
Good to see Malcolm again, and improving!
Thanks for racing all, and see you at Goodwood for the final race of the Joe Shaw Memorial Trophy! Fingers crossed we don't get mass disco's, but it's a calculated risk taken since the Trophy is being awarded at the Goodwood Revival. Knock on wood.
PS: Aintree is a great track with a lot of character. Great corners. It might be something for next season Works.
