Moderator's Report

Generally good behaviour by all on this server, with only 3 incidents requiring a further look.

The following drivers have been disqualified from the results as they joined the wrong server:

Hendy Nichols; Pierre D; Piero Mercaldo; Marco Mercaldo.

Please try and ensure that you join the right server as it mucks up the points and causes a lot of work :(

Server replay time: 0h01m22s

Roberto Vianna comes rattling in to the hairpin, brakes late, turns in for the apex....only to find Joe Whitfield already there and the available gap diminishing every millisecond. Joe was held up behind other cars at the corner, and really....was not expecting a passing attempt to come from so far back. The nearest Roberto got to overlap was 50% at the point he contacted Joe's door. I'm not even sure this was a bona fide passing attempt, or more a case of Rob outbraking himself.
The rules state:
Simple Ambitious Overtake: The overtaking car had NOT achieved a 50% or greater overlap at the point of turn-in. There was no loss of control by either driver. Penalty for overtaking driver.

Penalty: 1 place lost, plus 1 extra place for first lap incident.

Server replay time: 0h01m25s

Paul Markey gives it a bit of welly exiting the hairpin and immediately contracts a serious case of tank slapper disease. As he fights to regain control, an unlucky Johnny O arrives at the scene, without lights and siren, and manages to nail the moving target. (How did he do that?) Both spin off and both rejoin safely undamaged.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h01m41s

Raoni has to take to the grass to avoid the back of Sven's Porsche at the esses. He smashes through the 3 story hedge in his path and makes a bee-line for the track, arriving there at 38mph. Surprise!!...he pops out of the grassland onto the asphalt ribbon, directly in front of Pedro whom has nowhere to go and gets bludgeoned off the circuit. This is a shocking rejoin from someone with Raoni's experience.
The rules have this: Appallingly Bad Rejoin
The rejoining driver was in full control and drove straight back onto the racing line without any consideration for other drivers and contact was made.

Penalty 3 places, plus 1 for a first lap incident

Moderator's Report

A pretty clean RED ZONE and some good close racing at a pretty good circuit for the Porkas. Some incidents that could have attracted penalties but the drivers are all in generous mood and I am too!

Server replay time: 0h01m08s

Marco tries to tuck in behind Cookie but gets it wrong and clips Axel's rear. This might attract a penalty as it was somewhat careless but Axel has asked for the penalty to be waived and it was careless and/or a misjudgement rather than ungentlemanly. Penalty waived

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h01m34s

Jason and Fulvio touch. Horrible bit of warp puts Fulvio into Jason. Jason spins and Fulvio's race is done. Unfortunate.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h05m48s

Geoff gets a good run on Fran but Fran takes the space Geoff needs to slow down and gets whacked amidships. Fran did nothing wrong but Geoff was doin all he could to avoid the incident. Nonetheless the onus is on the driver behind to avoid the collision.

The rules have this: "The victim made no mistakes and was driving their normal line at normal speed. The shunter had lost control on the approach to the braking zone and consequently braked later than intended." This would normally attract a penalty but as with the earlier incident between Marco and Axel, Fran has asked for no penalty to be applied. The penalty is mitigated to a warning.

Fran could have helped Geoff by not taking such a tight line at the corner. That effectively cut Geoff's braking zone to 0.

Drivers are reminded that in a Pro race it is in their own interests to leave a little more room than might be the case when hot-lapping.

Server replay time: 0h15m13s

I can't do better than Phil's description: Francesco clips the grass on the quick right hander which unsettled his car in the braking zone. Consequently he couldn't slow down enough and rear-ends Phil.

The rules have this: "The victim made no mistakes and was driving their normal line at normal speed. The shunter had lost control on the approach to the braking zone and consequently braked later than intended."

Guess what? Phil has asked for no penalty and I am happy to comply, but as with Geoff, a warning is in order.

Server replay time: 0h45m31s

Phil, Fran and Marco are having a busy race and get in a tangle figting for position. Marco tries to pass Fran and loses speed as he aborts the move. Phil gets ahead but Marco loses control as he tries to maintain position and clips Phil. They both spin out. That's racing!

Hi,
I also read race info well and sure to remeber that server 1 pass was write pete and server 2 dud, immediatly post to my teammate race data, doing a copy/paste, perhaps, maybe my finger act like crazy? I dunno.

So if my fault, pardon me, my teammate have no fault, my blame.

Race was bad, starting I lose a lot of time to recover my team from wrong server, find password, and after that server 1 fail itself.
A lot of traffic during qualify, best lap 1" slower than best, too on the left at t1 and I spin far away, fallen in 19th place, fight to (a lot) become 8th, then collector succumb and race is close to me.
Very bad network yesterdey, apart first qualify session, that fail, even second and race was infested by a lot of "smash", cars appear and disappear, very difficult to understand ther real position, especially when doing overtaking.

Had some fps problems with the GT mod, and had to run at really low res to get it to run smoothly. As a result I couldn't use the mirrors and prib at the same time

hi happyal ,

pitty , would be nice to solve .

if you like to , we can try to sort it out .( better in other thread .. )
in my case I had to switch to openGL , as well had to change to an old ATI display driver and instead of CCC ,Adam Rays ati try tool only is running on my PC....... :Dtime stealing journey, tell ya .
even if the hardware seems to be overkill to GPL , result could be worse , as long software dont fit to old GPL .
;)if it should be a videocard prob : I do have 3 older ATI cards , I would give away for shipping cost only.
if any else is interested , plz pm . (1800XTX ,1900XTX, 1950XTX all 512MB and of course PCIe )

Sorry David for this misunderstanding of the PW Roll Eyes
To me it was clear that I have to join server1 with the PW "dud"...

After the server crash I had lost my 6th position in Quali, In the shortened practice I couldn't do a real fast one, so I was 12th...

Had a good start with this little contact in T1 with Marco who just touched me and went off.
Following Ronnie, Nicky and Arf, they constantly pulled a little away and when they were doing mistakes I gained a place.
Midst the race I had this great battle with Arf, with its highlight in lap 14 when we had this blocked T1 exit and I decided to better take the gras-line to not being hit.
Arf showed as a great gentlemen and let me the lead in this hairy situation! THANK YOU I Am Not Worthy
The other battle was with Max in the last 7 laps who could drive a little faster, but with a defending Cookie in front, it was not easy to pass.
Max succeeded in lap 34 when I ran wide as I had done a misgear in Cox's Corner but with all my adrenaline I succeeded to get it back in the hairpin, taking the inner line with the space Max has left. THANK YOU! thumbup1
The last lap I had a little tow of Jason and so I finished in a lucky 5th place Grin
Gratulations to the podium!

Great win by Sergio! Great team Shadow success 1st, 5th and 9th!
This was the idea of this Porsche team cup to have such different drivers in a team thumbup2

Good result for Team Shadows this time round - Sergio was the class of the field in server one.. Axel with a good result in 5th and myself a solid 9th..
I was barely able to drive the car last night owing to fatigue! I could barely feel my legs and was struggling to turn my wheel! I was worn out after a 7 hour train ride home yesterday afternoon and only got home in time to grab some food, boot up the PC and jump straight into the server. With zero prep time for East London I had to run my Surfers setup, adding an extra clutch and lengthening the gearing to make to car feel right.. and it worked..... and I was just pleased to make the finish and get the points for my team Smiley

Thank you guys for your words.
I've dedicated a respectable amount of time to prepare this race and all has gone very well. I've been always in controll of my car except perhaps just once that I almost went out of track at the esses but I recovered well and then all has gone well untill the finish line.
I've been just a little bit surprised about the qualify time because I had a 1:23.4 BC and also a 1:23.89 of PB but I was not able to repeat these lap times, anyway, no problems lapping backmarkers (they fortunately sometimes watch in the rear view mirror  Wink ) indeed...no problems at all.
I thought Roberto Teso, Mark Barresi and Ron-C should be easily an immediate threat but I don't know why they were not in my mirror from the beginning as well. Pribluda told me I was taking distance from them almost since the 3rd lap.
I think it is a very good result of our Team Shadows and this should bring us a little bit forward in the general Teams Standing.
Thanks to my Teammates, your job has been fine. Only a little question to Jason, why didn't you say to me that you needed a setup ?

See you all at Sepang and...watch your six...I could be there !   Wink

Oh yeah...I'm so too but, since you had not the time to set you car properly, so you should at least...ask for a hand !

A great result for team Hiki Waza with all 3 cars making it to the finish.  Joe did very well to keep things together to make it to the flag, after a few spectacular moves on the grass!!!

For myself, wow!! what a race!!! Roll Eyes

I was not expecting to be good in quallly around here, as my PB was some 2 secs of what I had seen Juha get on the practice server. But I was hoping to pick up some places through the race and maybe score some good points. So, I was astonished when I made a couple of minor changes to my setup during qually and found a whole second with a much more predicatable car.

I'm not sure what happened at the start, because I had only qualified 2nd but the pole guy did not appear on the grid??
My setup had a very high 1st gear and that allowed Alex to pass me on the run down to T1. This track is notorious for crashes as T1 AND T2 in the early laps and I was like a Meerkat on speed looking in my mirrors and at Prib trying to work out where the nearest cars were. Exiting T1 on cold tyres I was quicker that Alex and took the chance to outbrake him into T2 and regain the lead position. It definitely felt safer with a clear track in front and just the car behind to worry about  Wink
I tried to build a gap in the early laps, but when we all have equal cars and the drivers are as good as those competing in this series that is not easy.  Undecided Alex held me to about a 1 second lead and Sven was close in 3rd. On some laps I would squeeze another few tenths , but a slight error would allow Alex and Sven to close up again. Alex was generally faster through T1 but I seemed to be able to brake later for T2.

Even though I could not get away from Alex and Sven I felt that I could defend my position quite comfortably if i had to, so I settled into a steady pace expecting the real battle to begin in the last 10 laps.

Everything was going fine until we caught the backmarkers and tried to lap someone at the final turn... Undecided I will have to look at the replay to see who it was, but that car seemed intent on racing us and not allowing a safe pass?Huh I thought that he had deliberately run wide around the outside of the final corner to allow our 3 car train to take the inside line onto the straight, but imagine my surprise when I get thumped by a Porsche coming straight across the track from my left.
Alex and Sven managed to avoid my spinning car, but by the time I had recovered I was some 7-8 secs behind and a few of the cars that we had already lapped had got between me and them. I was lucky that there was no damage to my car although I felt any chance of catching Alex and Sven was slim.  There was a definite red mist in the air for the rest of the race as i slowly ( very slowly!) closed the gap until I was about 2 secs behind with maybe 5 laps to go.  I am not sure, but i think Sven suffered at the hands of the same driver that hit me and cartwheeled out of the race. That left Alex in the lead with only a few laps to go.
I had to get onto his tail quickly if I was going to have a chance to challenge for 1st place. Between these Porsches, around this track, passing opportunities are rare and i had to hope for a small mistake to give me an opening. So I threw in 2 laps right on the limit, figuring that as long as I did not totally wreck the car in a crash I had time to recover and still finish 2nd.....maybe  Roll Eyes
I think Alex made a small mistake coming on to the main straight and I got an excellent drive out of the same corner. The slipstream eased me closer and I got right onto his tailpipes out of T1...now or never with 2 laps still to go.
I used my extra momentum to get alongside for the braking into T2 and made the pass. Now I would have to defend for the final lap and a half against Alex, who is a very fast driver. That was the longest lap and a half ever!! and I knew that Alex would make a move somewhere. He tried it at the final corner but I was just able to hold my line and get a good drive off the corner in the drag race for the flag.

That was a very exciting race and great fun, so thanks to everyone.
Grats to Alex and Raonni for the podium and hard luck Sven who deserved better after a long hard race.

Yes Clive, it is true, your race has been pretty much interesting than my one and most of all the last 10 laps have been very struggling untill the last meter. Spectacular !
Compliments for your cold blood Wink and to the other 2 pilots on the podium !

and I was like a Meerkat on speed
Cheesy

Again a great race.

Unlucky to been taken out by Raoni in the chicane 1e lap, better you reenter the track with more awareness of other drivers next time.
I lost 8 places and could have been killed, Luckely I diddent and had a great time catching up again.

Later in the race Pierre spins just before me in that same chicane (No Problem Pierre apology accepted Smiley And please stay with us!
Its fun to do, and we need all kind of experience drivers. That way its more fun.)

The last 5 laps I was on the tail's off Dave and Mattia but could not pass.
One time I had passed Dave, but Mattia was lagging and was gone, suddenly he appeared again.
I thought Dave was just driving safe to avoid a collision with Mattia, so I let him pass me back again to make it more fair.

Great Fun!! Great track!
Thanks all.
Congratulations Clive, Alex and Raoni.

Sorry for you Teamy's Sven and Roberto, better luck next time.

Greetings Pedro.

Overall a good race for me. Im not a master of the porsche, so I try and string consistent laps now. Congratulations to Clive, very well raced! Lucky i didnt ruin BOTH our races with that crazy spin! I span because as I tried to let the leaders pass, I went onto the grass.  Roll Eyes Unlucky sven, it's a shame you crashed out. Sorry Raoni, we had a close call when you were lapping me! I had great battles with Screwcutter and Stefano but otherwise a quiet race. Thanks for a fun race all  laugh

Thank you, Pedro !

Yes Mattia was lagging, sometimes it was on the left, then on the right of the track, sometimes he completely disappeared from my screen ... so it was not easy to pass him Wink
Moreover, it did no driving error !

M. Rainier - as far as I could see the password at the top of the page was 'dud' and the password in the next box down was 'pete'. Was that the same for you? It should have been. That meant that the password for Server 1 was 'dud' and for Server 2 'pete'. It should have been clear but maybe we can make the passwords Password1 and Password2 so that they are different but it is clear which server they apply to. I'll chat to Geoff.

I had a good, though quiet race, if you call chasing & trying to pressure Mark into a mistake a quiet race laugh I didn't actually pass anyone on the track though. L1 Roberto went off in T1, a few laps later Piero managed to do the same thing, they were the only 2 places I gained. I did have one go at getting past Mark on L18 in T3, which didn't work, I touched his car slightly & I slid wide, with Mark continuing on.  Chasing him down again, we caught some backmarkers on L22, which we were both trying to get past on the last corner when I tap Mark accidentally, oopps, I let him pass & off we go again, until a little mistake from me 2L from finish gave Mark some breathing room. Happy to be on the podium, with Natan 4th & Hendy 7th on the other server, a good result for NVRacing Grin

I thought Roberto Teso, Mark Barresi and Ron-C should be easily an immediate threat but I don't know why they were not in my mirror from the beginning as well. Pribluda told me I was taking distance from them almost since the 3rd lap.
laugh  From my point of view, you were untouchable Sergio, I was not going to get anywhere near your times   Shocked
