Slowly I am getting used to the idea that my races won't end in a disco and I can concentrate on some racing.
Well, when I say concentrate I think that is where I am lacking
.
Once again qually put me on the front row.
Once again I found myself on Hristo's tail and the pair of us easing a small gap to the cars behind.
Once again I found that my car was quicker in some places and Hristo was faster in others.
Once again I was happy to sit behind for a few laps and allow us to try and increase the cushion to 3rd spot.
and
Once again I allowed my concentration to wander and I made 2 dumb and needless mistakes that allowed Hristo to escape and Tom to cruise past into 2nd spot.
It took me quite a few laps to get my composure back, fend off Tristan in his very nimble Brabham and find a way past Tom's BRM.
By this time Hristo was out of sight, and in getting past Tom I had subjected my tyres to some serious abuse
so I was forced to go very gently for a couple of laps and only push hard enough to stay ahead of Tom. Once the rubber had cooled I was able to up my pace and pull away again to protect my second spot on the podium.
Grats to Hristo on a trouble free race ( again). If I can just keep my mind on the driving I might be able to make you work for your wins, but if I keep on making nooby mistakes that will never happen lol.
Thanks to Tom for some great racing and defensive driving that made it very difficult to find a way past...it was never certain that I would be able to re-take 2nd place as that BRM was very quick on the straight.
