Dean runs into the rear of David's car as he brakes for the hairpin. It is early in the race and it cannot be said that David braked any earlier than he normally would have as too few laps have been completed.

This is a simple rear end shunt where Dean was caught out by the braking of the car in front.

Penalty for Dean Simple rear end Shunt

Lap 5 and Nicky is closing on Fran down the main straight. Fran runs a little deep into the hairpin and has to slow dramatically to avoid the haybales. Nicky spots an opportunity and takes tighter line into the hairpin.

As Nicky starts to accelerate out of the corner Fran has also gathered himself together and is also standing on the gas. For a few crucial seconds just before the contact neither driver can see the other and they both end up trying to claim the same piece of tarmac.

In this instance I can see why Nicky made the move that he did as it looked likely that Fran was going to hit the haybales and he would have a clear passing opportunity. However Fran did get his car stopped and turned quite neatly although he lost a great deal of time to Nicky.
This falls under the ruling about contested pass, where the cars emerge from the corner side by side after a passing attempt is made.
The guidelines are clear about this and say that each driver should keep to his own 50% of the track width.
Fran undoubtedly stayed on his side of the track but unfortunately Nicky's trajectory took him across the centre line and he made contact with Fran's car.

Penalty for Nicky. Contested pass the overtaking driver did not keep to his own side of the track on the exit of the corner

Lap 5 and Fran's extra power in the winged Mclaren takes him past Axels's Eagle on the run towards the Esses.
Fran makes a clean pass well before the corner and brakes at his normal point. Axel has switched his car to the inside and brakes much later than Fran. This takes him 99.99% past Fran as they enter the left hander effectively regaining the place he had just lost.
Although this all happened very quickly, there is no doubt that Axel had made the pass under braking and that Fran made the error when he turned in and hit the rear of the Eagle.
Penalty for Fran contested pass where the overtaking car has 100% overlap and contact is made.

Congratulations to winner and podium ones and all !!

Both races extreme hard work. Cant say I did enjoy this time as much I did last round at Lime

F2race:
-   did start slow , lost 1 place
-   L2 Dean ( in front of me ) knocked out  Rainier at hairpine. Could stay free by luck.
-   L4 hairpine again, this time I got knocked out by Dean, I spun 360°, but lost control next lefthander. Down to P9
-   L5 again hairpine: F.Molten in front of me did run run wide a bit by missing breaking point . BUT did not kept most left to came back to race speed at exit, so hit my left rear tyre.. both of us did visit the clouds above…I did shift R to change position from tribune back to track. Must admit I did aggressive to not let Molten back in easy, but this is racing…
-   L17 I managed to stuck my car into the Armco after the chicane. P6 gone, lol

69x race :
-could stay free from T1 circumstances . P5
-   L2 did spun on my own at T1. P9
-   L20 earned P3 from Clive , coz he run wide at T1
-   L22 did run out of fuel…Clive and G.T. passed by
-   L22 exit of chicane no fuel at all.. 0 kmh ,  did an shift R BUT guess this was not correct, if I am right shift R isn’t for wrong fuel calculations ? I should be penalized for .

Can't make this one, as Gareth seems to be a no-show Smiley

So happy F2-ing & 69-ing on this fine (HA!) Valentine's evening.
Hope it's drier/calmer than it is here!

Next time fellas.

Cheers,
Dave.
I was busy with my beloved for most of the evening, spent the rest of it with the wife.

You can make a Shift/R for any reason Nicky, even running out of fuel in the last 200mtrs. That was hard luck after such a good drive.

I enjoyed it. I wasn't expecting much considering I had no time to practice. My main concern was to try to stay out of the way.

F2 - I had to use my Lime Rock setup. Qualifying gave me just enough time to get the gearing decent and make some minor camber adjustments. Luckily I avoided most of the early trouble. I only made contact with Dean once at the hairpin. He had to stop or slow drastically to avoid a collision in front of him. I ended up locking my wheels and slid into the back of his car. Luckily is wasn't a heavy hit and being almost a square hit with no suspension contact, it appeared we both continued without a problem. I was in real good shape later tailing Dean. He was faster but it didn't look like he could break the slipstream. We caught Axel fairly quickly but when they went two wide entering turn 1, I couldn't cope with how much they slowed. I had to run wide. If I'd have stayed on my line, I'd have wrecked Axel. Then I had to deal with Tommie. He was all over me like stink on doo-doo. I did set my fastest lap with him on my tail but when I tried to carry too much speed into turn 1, I was off the track once again. I was moving up once again but each time I caught Dave R at turn 1 the car would lose all grip on the front and send me into the grass. If it weren't for the four trips through the weeds at turn 1 I'd have gotten a rather nice finish. All in all, I had a pretty good time.

69 - I was worried about this one. Luckily I had set up the Lotus 49 for Monza. If it weren't for that setup I'd have had nothing when entering qualifying. Same as with the F2s, I had just enough time to change the gearing and camber. I was very surprised with my qualifying and I got off the line superbly but didn't know what to do in turn 1 when there was contact in front of me. I was afraid to brake too heavily and create another disaster behind me so I likely wiped out somebody in front of me. This is one area I really need some work. With an incident in front of me I always seem to lose track of what's behind me so I worry that any evasive moves or drastic braking will only cause another wreck behind me. Damn rookies! (that's me).

After the turn 1 reset I was able to finish the race without hitting anything else. I was pleased with how well the Lotus ran. It really required a gentle touch and luckily I had some finesse for the race. This car would never tolerate me manhandling it. I don't know what happened to Robert. He caught me after a spin and I was surprised how quickly I was able to get by. That Cooper really looked weak on the straights. I expected Robert to tail me for a while but he was gone almost immediately after I passed him. I hope it wasn't my ragged driving that caused you trouble. I was struggling at that point. By the time it was over I was getting some fairly nice times in the 49. A little more practice and some fine tuning would have had me in the 1:23's. I wish I could have made it through turn 1 on lap 1. I'd have likely vied for the win without that screw up.

Thanks guys and I appreciate you letting me race with you. I need the experience. Hopefully I'll get better dealing with accidents in front of me and running in traffic. I expect I will but it's going to take some time.

Couldn't get a grip on the Cooper in practise and had to adapt my driving to the car and setup. It was generally tight and slow at the straights. After I passed you, I went loose and you could pass me on the straight. Had a fast winged car behind keeping me on my toes. Then just braked too late/steered in too late, missed the corner (Esses), and hit the bridge, lost a wheel...was fun until then...used up my shift-r after startcrash...

It wasn't you at all, Greg, you were lapping faster anyway, and you're a pretty consistent driver Wink Still had some fun last night, some nice racing going on, plenty action! Just need to avoid my own mistakes...

I sorted out a lucrative deal with Sir Jack, and Snetted a couple of Brabhams.

Race 1 required a rapid getaway, as a rapid Robert required respect.  Ruckily, the start went well from my respective, and I was able to hang onto a gap, without dropping the car.  So finally, a race win on a Friday! Cheesy

Second outing lived up to it's name.  My winged wonder was tremendous fun, if slightly on the wild side.  Despite a couple of early discussions with opponents, about the attachment of components, I soon found myself in a fighting 4th.  Then disaster and dematerialization.  With recent Server weakness, I'd again tried my dubious Landline hookup.  It survived F2ness, but disliked the demands of 69's extra speed?  I'll probably give it another spin next week, but batting below 50% ATM.  Sad

I've mentioned before, the good fortune I had to visit the real Snetterton once, as a youngster - the F2 meeting in 1967.  Each time we race at this track, I'm reminded of that first visit.  The action at the hairpin, is amazingly like the real thing.  The manoeuverings, the breakings, the outbrakings, the speed.  We have a very realistic Sim.

Disagree. Nice job finding a space to go through.

...-   L4 hairpine again, this time I got knocked out by Dean...

Disagree again. You were defending the outside and moved across entering the braking zone, leaving me nowhere to go.  no

I'd have had a tough time maintaining a tight line through there, so you should have stayed going straight, and looked for a space to cut back up inside me while I'm trying to get the thing turned.
