A motor blowup on the grid from only 7K revolutions? Yeah, sure...

There's nothing like putting an hour an a half of practice into an event, getting pole, holding it into Lap 2 and then getting a screen freeze Oh well, best of luck everyone else and WD to either Ronnie or Tristan I guess?

Ah that's why you went slower Axel, too bad, it was great fun up to that point Didn't take enough fuel myself, and when I found out half race, had to manage saving fuel last 10 laps...luckily for me Ray was about 5s behind, and when I started to sputter last lap had enough margin... Pretty fun track, still suffering from the hick-ups though...but happy I went on with the race because I was about to quit mod racing all together due to this annoying gremlin... Tristan was already 3s up the road when Axel dropped back, hung on to 4-5s but had to let go last 10 laps...Grats Tris and well done Ray! I'm satisfied with a podium in the T77! But sorry to see a small grid and hard luck for some, especially Tim...

Pro grid might get a few more drivers in the next fortnight after Groundhog finishes its last races.. next Monday the last 65 race at Adelaide (Roo is champion, Andy runner-up, Jani third), Monday after that a classic 67 Monza pickup race to go out in style; namely, the spirit of the last ten years

Something "funny" ...(not for all racers !) There were 3 DNF in this race, it was the 3 leaders of the championship and the podium of the 1st race !!! From my side, I was extremely slow but improve progressively my best laptimes. I was alone during all the races until the 5 last laps where I was overlapped by all the other racers. But finally, I have the same amount of points in this championship than Axel, and even more points than FMG etc. There is no justice in this world

Good point David, due to this hard luck for others I'm even leading the table. But I make no illusions since I'm in the T77 Was fun watching replay, especially first 8 laps. Mentioned before not getting worried getting older, noticing how Clive and Pelle race. But should have mentioned Axel as well Great job keeping me behind, without a mistake. At some parts I took a different line. Shame you forgot to use the racesetup. Has happened to me once or twice to be honest... Also quite close with Ray after he (got) spun around out of T1. Ofcourse noticed it very late due to topography, and was afraid Ray would get back on the racing line, but I just could squeeze through hugging the armco Those were a very exciting first 8 laps, before Axel retired and could pull away from Ray since he made a few little mistakes. His pace was arguably better, and I was running out of fuel. As I said, lucky podium, but happy with my drive nevertheless, especially considering my gremlin, and having to manage fuel last half of the race... Still hoping I can fix my sound/hickup probs, but will continue nevertheless...

Robert, Not sure exactly what your problems are but............. I had recurring sound gremlins for a long time. The engine sound would just get more and more corrupted as the race progressed. It seemed that some cars were worse than others, but I could not actually prove that. I quit some races because the sound was just too terrible to listen to.
I tried replacing all of my sound files, fitting a new sound card and software, but nothing seemed to fix it.
Purely by chance one day I came across the Windows setting for sound "Hardware Acceleration". I think it had got set at "max" when I installed the soundcard, I'm not sure why but I moved the slider to a mid position just to see what difference it made.
All my sound problems in GPL vanished and I have been able to run any custom sound file for GPL without a problem.
If this does not help Robert it might be of use to others.

Thanks Clive, good point. It is true decreasing hardware acceleration can solve sound problems in GPL. I have tried several soundcards with all possible settings. I keep having issues one way or the other. Have been digging deep into this specific problem, but haven't found a solution for my specific system. AFAIK tried everything, reinstalling GPL, GEM, different soundcards, hardware acceleration, PCI latency timing etc...
I suspect it simply has to do with my first generation mobo right now, but it is weird the problems with 67s, and at 36fps are less (concerning hickups). Sound is crackling due to 2 steps back on hardware acceleration. But otherwise sound will get crazy or game will lock up. I'm pretty sure the sound is leading to these hickups, but still weird it seems to be less of a problem with 67s (and most important don't get hickups offline). Also tried different sounds. I think with the hickups there gets some distortion in the sound (the sound slightly changes). Maybe I sould decrease sounds (now have 6) in GPL, but IIRC I tried that, and you need a few in the race.
As I said, dug deep, but got up to a point I simply ran out of options...

Do you use W7?
If so, there is a menu you should look at: right click on the speaker in the tray.
Choose the active device and click on properties.
now you have several submenues - choose what is in german "Verbesserungen" (optimization?) and deactivate all!
Hope this helps...

I'm on Win XP, this mobo will not run W7. BTW also tried all sorts of different drivers for different soundcards, but in the end I always have to use 2 steps back on hardware acceleration, but that gives me crackling sound.
I do not recognize the option you speak of.

The difference between the W7 and XP sound handling is big!
Xp lets the sound devices drivers make the sound, XP is better for good music soundcards as it gives them all the freedom to make a good sound.
W7 has the sound handling fully integrated in the OS and there is no hardware acceleration possible. W7 is good for all communication stuff but soundcards suffer as those good hardware is not supported...
W10 brings back the hardware support and keeps the integration in the OS
For you I think a Cmedia soundchip like the Asus Xonar cards have but also very cheap other no-name cards could be the solution. When I bought a cheap ASUS Xonar DS my GPL sound problems were solved.

I have tried SB Live!, SB X-Fi, CM8738 and Realtek HD, four different chipsets I think. Also different drivers for each, and all available settings with hardware acceleration...messed around with PCI latency timing as well, no difference...I'm a bit wary to buy another soundcard even when they are cheap...
I just think it's the mobo, first generation and flawed probably. Already had many problems assembling it and getting it to work. However most runs fine, sound is good for other applications. Just a lot of GPL related problems, also with GEM locking up etc. etc. Reinstalls and new clean ini's didn't help nor removing etc...as I said have been searching for solutions at SRMZ, and all over the internet...offered solutions just don't seem to work here...also can't use FRAPS, will only capture short fragments, also sound related I'm afraid...
Thanks for trying to help. In a way I have accepted the situation as long I have to use this PC.
