Season 36 Historics Trophy – Round 4– Brno
For the next round of the season 36 we are going to Brno in the Czech Republic. Brno was originally founded as a race circuit in 1930, the original course running counter-clockwise for some 29.1Km (18 miles) through 9 towns/villages. The inaugaral race was won by Lous Chiron in a Bugatti type 51 in 1931. The circuit maintained this layout until 1937 when War brought racing to a close. In 1949 Brno re-opened - now running clockwise and at a shorter length of 17.2Km (10.7 Miles) passing through only 6 towns/villages this time. In 1964 the circuit was shortened again to 13.9Km (8.6 Miles) by cutting Zebetin from the route. In 1967 Mike Spence entered a BRM P83 in a race here - No other (then) current F1 teams were known to have raced here. In 1975 the circuit was again shortened down to a mere 10.9Km (6.77 Miles) in order to avoid running through Pisarky, Novy Liskovec, and Bohunice, it also removed a large section of the run through Kohoutovice. This layout remained until 1987 when the road course was finally closed in order to move the racing onto the newly purpose built race circuit situated just off the original course, between Ostrvacice and Zebetin were the races continue to this day. Today we are using the Brno '65 layout.

Please check the Season 36 pages for details regarding rules and the 66F1 pages in particular.
Drivers must complete 50% of the race to score points.

Screen freeze on lap 2  taz

Pity the race was going very well. The first lap through the first village was a bit hairy having started with a tight grid.  Thanks to Tris for leaving me room  thumbup2

Hi Fran,

I feel for you too... dont give up mate.   at least it can only get better :-)

its different for me, Im despairing a little too but Im lucky enough to  have caused all of my problems myself.

was hoping tonight would be ok. knew i would be at the back as usual, but took the Honda, not a car i usually drive but i seemed to have got a really nice to drive setup and the gearing was spot on.  The plan was to improve my times, have some fun and at least finish.

Two out of three.... not Bad.   ended my evening early with a shortcut through a hedge !!!

I did tap the rear of a car when coming up upon the problems early in lap 1.  not checked who yet, tried hard to stop, but GPL isnt the easiest always to stop quick, I tried to stay as straight as poss to minimise adding to the carnage. so Im sorry! if I caused any further problems to other drivers. everyone seemed to sort out getting under way except myself as it caused me to get stuck on the kerb. lost a fair bit of time and was never in a position to even stay with the pack for a even a little while.

another lap or so... and same old story. Time for an early bath.  LOL.

Francesco we have other things to worry at the moment in Italy  Wink
Luckily we have this online hobby to keep us at home busy at night Smiley
I suggest to all our European friends to not underestimate coronavirus problems as we did in Italy.
Cheers

You are right but, after 4 days closed at home,i wait the race as a moment for some satisfaction.
Sunday the clutch have abbandoned me(never seen in the 55) and yesterday the incident.
At Brno my goal was to finish at last a race.
For the moment the positive thing is that covid 19 is not with me. Cheesy

Big fun racing, with GREAT FIGHTING until the last corner!   Grin
After my good start – great grid! three in row side by side – my best season race begun at first with having no chance in my BT11 2,7 l on the long straights against ZiuBacubacus Ferrari and Clives Honda but in the “infield“ and the breaking zones I could close the gap every lap a bit more. That was close fighting with getting in touch and in the green (only one time) and finally a decision at the last corner. Congratulations to you Clive and to you Andreas, especially for the best consistency!
