Clive - may have been mentioned elsewhere/via the other link Smiley  but have you checked the GPU clocks ramp up when GPL is running?

I'm sure Axel would suggest downloading/running "Open Hardware Monitor" (https://openhardwaremonitor.org/)
Then view -> show plot,  and then select the GPU clocks (& probably de-select other stuff to de-clutter).

If the clocks don't change/flat when GPL is running, then the 3D settings are not kicking in for the various GPL .exe files;  they all need to be added (gpl.exe, gplc65.exe etc).

Although - if you come across a fix for the micro-stutter when chat messages are received I'm all ears!

My same hardware was fine under Windows7 - no stutter.
But under Windows10 with a fresh GPL installation - I get the stutter.
I also tracked down the previous version of the nvidia driver I'd been using for Win7 & installed for Win10 - no difference (although Win10 has since 'updated' it again).
Also tried recently swapping previous nVidia GTX750Ti-OC with GTX970 - no difference.
Did see previous GPL installation had a slightly older version of pribluda & looks as though I previously was not using pribluda dashboard (dash=0) but instead was using Digital Display Manager for some stats.

Anyway, good luck with your investigations.

Cheers,
Dave.

Thanks Dave. Sure enough the log showed that the GPU was basically asleep, dumping all the graphics load onto the CPU. With things as they were I was contemplating avoiding qualification for this race and starting at the back of the grid, so that I could abort if the graphics were too bad.

In the hour before the race I had another go at solving the problem.
A little digging in the Nvidia control panel found the list of supported programmes and it showed that GTL was there, but not GPL, which explains why one game was good and the other very poor.

I browsed to the Sierra directory and added the GPL65.exe to the list ( I will add the other .exe's now that I know it all works ) and ran through the settings that were applied as default, upgrading them to match Axel's posted levels. When I joined the race I was relieved to see that I had an absolutely solid 60.04 fps showing, regardless of traffic or scenery.

As for the race. A great grid with many visitors from other leagues which was good to see for this Moss memorial race.  thumbup2

Grats to the podium places and all finishers. There was some great racing last night right down through the field.
I opted for the slowest car in the pack the screaming BT7 to do battle against a swarm of Coopers at the sharp end. My hopes were not high as pure horsepower does make a difference around Goodwood with those long fast sections. Also, with all the fannying around with the graphics I had not had the time to fine tune the setup, so there were areas where handling was suspect....especially at St Mary's!! which was buttock clenching on each lap.
I was just a little slow on Lap 1 to hook up the tow to the fast guys up front and I had Greg breathing down my neck in the early laps. Gradually I eased away from Greg and caught a recovering Raonni. But, the Cooper had just a little too much grunt and I could not hold on to him even with the slipstream.
I picked up a few places as drivers had incidents ahead and towards the end of the race I caught Raonni again and chased hard for a few laps until approaching St Mary's there was a car high in the air. It was an airborne backmarker, and I was not sure what happened but I was not sure where they would land and the combination of uncertainty and dodgy handling  sent my car onto the grass  Undecided

I lost a few places and just did not have the speed to regain them,  Doni was making a late surge behind, so I had to keep things tidy to the end.

Thanks to all who organised, took part and to those who built the new Goodwood Circuit.  Grin

I really like the track it's just a shame I had so many errors. Half of which were my own stupid fault. What was more worrying was a screen freeze about 6 laps from the end. I hope it is not a problem with the track. Maybe we can try another race here next week to test it out?

Incredible race last night with Clive for all the 30 laps and also Andreas in the second part of the race. It were ages since I had raced with 65 cars and I didn't remember how close and fun racing is possible. Maybe too close with a 3x2 grid and 17 starters  Shocked
Infact the big pile up at T1 was likely in sight. I ended on my roof and restarted dead last behind Clive and so went for all the race. Slowly we catched some other cars that did mistakes and later Andreas joined the party with his nimble Cooper that gave hard work to Clive for many laps till he had a little off at last turn so I could snip to press a rock solid Clive till the end.
Pure fun. Smiley

It was great fun but I did feel a little guilty at having held back the pair of you.  But not for long!  Roll Eyes

Thanks for the good clean fight.
