Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 0

As the cars leave the grid Evil moves to the right and does not maintain a straight line. Axel has made a better start and is alongside.
When contact is made Axel is sent into the structure of the bridge and Clive is sent back across the track causing multiple cars to become involved.

Server replay time: 0

This race required all Pro drivers in a Cooper to take 3 Stop and Go pitstops. Checking of the replay shows that Andreas only stopped twice.
The rules on the race post suggest that this should be an automatic DQ, However the moderators have decided that a time penalty approx. equal to 3x the time gained is appropriate. A 30 second time penalty will be applied.

Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 0

Approaching T2 on Lap 1 Tristan is too close to Ziu and cannot avoid hitting Ziu's car under braking. The contact sends Ziu into the barriers and Tris continues.
There is some excellent advice regarding the apparent gaps between cars within GPL on our UKGPL website. The gap that you think you see from the cockpit is NOT what GPL is calculating ....https://www.ukgpl.com/rec_dvr_beh/rec_driver_beh.htm

Server replay time: 0

The rules of this race required all Pro drivers to take 3 Stop and Go pitstops. These stops are NOT taken on the first lap or the last lap, to prevent cars diving into the pitlane in the last moments of a race. Tristan took his 3rd pitstop incorrectly when he missed the pitlane entry on lap 24 and parked his car on the pit exit apron without travelling through pitlane. His stop actually took place at the beginning of the last lap. This should be a DQ.
However the moderators have decided to apply a time penalty, roughly equal to 3x the time gained. Therefore Tristan will receive a 30 second time penalty.

Server replay time: 0

This race suffered from a mass Screen Freeze/disco at around the 70% distance. Normally we would try to arrange a re run of the race. However the Season schedule for UKGPL does not offer any options until the end of the current season and the moderators have decided that the results will be taken at the end of Lap 17.
Just to complicate matters, some drivers still had stops to take after Lap 17, and therefore for each stop missed they will each have 7 seconds added onto their race time to make things even. The additional pit stop time has been taken into account in the revised race times.

The Eighth Joe Shaw Memorial Trophy - Rounds 1 and 2

The first round finds us at Jops Siffert in Switzerland. This is a fantasy track designed and developed by the race league F1legends as a tribute to their friend "Jops Siffert", who died in September 2005. He was 40 years old. Jops was the founder of F1legends league, a fantastic friend of the F1legends members and one of the quickest drivers in the world (Rank -83).

For the second round we will visit Surfers Paradise International Raceway, a motor racing complex at Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. The 3.219 kilometres (2.000 mi) long circuit was designed and built by Keith Williams, a motor racing enthusiast who also designed and built the Adelaide International Raceway (AIR) in South Australia in 1972.  The circuit was mainly used for Sports Car racing most notably in 1966 when Jackie Stewart and Andrew Buchanan won the Group A Sports Cars race in a Ferrari 250LM.  Formula 1 cars never raced here but there was a race for Open-Wheel cars in 1975 in the guise of the Australian Formula 1 series.

There are chassis restrictions for the fastest drivers. For details see the championship page.

PRO DRIVERS SHOULD CHECK THE NUMBER OF PITSTOPS THAT THEY MUST TAKE DURING THE RACE

This is a memorial race, so unlimited free Shift-Rs are allowed. There is no need to carry out a Stop and Go in the pit lane if you make a Shift-R.

As you all begin ( or even continue ) your preparations for the JSMT series, you will notice that the PRO drivers have been given a handicap that varies depending on which car they select for each race. AM drivers need not concern themselves with the pitstops, other than to know that the alien who vanished into the distance when the flag dropped, might re appear at various times throughout the race.  Wink

The table showing the cars and tracks and the respective number of stops is  (   https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=951&theme=6   )

1) A PRO driver can take his allocated pitstops at any time, except on lap 1 and on the last lap of each race.
2) The stops may be taken on following laps, or spread out. It is the driver's choice.
3) There is no speed limit in the pits, but you must still drive with regard for other drivers and reported incidents will be moderated.
4) Each stop is a StopnGO...i.e. your car must come to a full stop for at least 0.1 secs before you move off again.
5) There is no overtaking in the pitlane, so if a car has entered the pits ahead of you, you must stop behind that car and then follow it out of the pitlane. Because all cars are doing the same SnG's there is no reason to expect the car ahead to take a longer stop than you do. If the car ahead stops first, he will move away first too.
Please DO NOT enter the pits in order to retire from the race. If you need to quit, drive off the track somewhere safe and hit ESC.
5) If the pitlane is empty when you arrive, drive to the far end before stopping, DO NOT stop at your pitbox. If there is a car already in the pits, make your stop just behind him....he will probably be moving off before you have come to a full stop.
6) Drivers leaving the pits are responsible for rejoining the race safely, do not blast out of the pits without being sure there is a gap in the traffic!! It would still be wise for drivers passing the pits at full speed to be aware that cars might be joining the track and leave a little tarmac free. Neither car will gain much if they are involved in a crash at speed  Wink
7) In the heat of battle it might be difficult to remember how many stops you have completed? Maybe a pencil and paper might be difficult to work with when racing, but a 4 ( or however many stops you need ) coins or counters alongside you wheel, so that one can be pushed aside as each stop is completed? The number of stops WILL be checked by a moderator and failure to properly complete the required number of pitstops will result in a DQ...you have been warned  Grin

The intention is to keep the whole field engaged in the battle for the podium places throughout the race. It is quite possible that a few PRO drivers could find themselves in a last lap battle with AM drivers who do not wish to give up their position easily, so please drive with consideration.

Clive, a 30 minute race at Jops should be about 19 or 20 laps. Surfers Paradise looks about right at 25 laps.

My mistake Bill, I looked at the previous laptimes and must have inadvertently used the 69 results. I will amend the race length to 20 laps to suit the 65's.

I will change the race post for number of laps and review the number of stops as this will make a difference I think. Give me an hour or so to cogitate and calculate.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE RACE LENGTH FOR ROUND 1. JOPS SIFFERT HAS INCREASED TO 20 LAPS AND THAT THE NUMBER OF STOPS REQUIRED FOR PRO DRIVERS HAS ALSO BEEN ADJUSTED.
THIS MEANS THAT ALL 4 RACES SHOULD NOW BE OF APPROX EQUAL LENGTH AND THAT THE NUMBER OF STOPS IS CONSISTENT ACROSS ALL RACES FOR ALL CHASSIS

Was planning to race tonight but GPL is crashing back to desktop. Something strange last time I used GPL - the intro pages were flickering as though a another page was trying to load on top. I have reinstalled GEM to see if that was the problem but that has not helped.
Really don't want, to but see no option other than to reinstall GPL.
