Moderator's Report

Summary
Cookie, the Spa-Francorchamps specialist, once again showed everyone the way around this demanding track in his Lancia. Starting from third position on the grid, he took the lead from Alain on lap 1 on the approach to Masta after Raoni had crashed at Burnenville. A titanic battle then ensued with the drivers swapping places until Alain crashed at Blanchimont on lap 4 trying to keep up with Cookie’s red-hot pace. From then on Cookie cruised to victory, finishing nearly 50 seconds ahead of JonnyO in a Mercedes W196SL. Francesco claimed the final podium spot in another Lancia just a couple of seconds behind JonnyO.

Lap 1 – Burnenville - EvilClive and Enrique Farina
Evil Clive is following Enrique into Burnenville and just gets a little too close. Contact is made and Enrique is punted off and out of the race. Evil Clive could continue with an undamaged car.

Enrique Farina did nothing wrong.

Evil simply got too close. It isn’t easy to slow these cars down once the driver has committed to a move. The contact was unintentional but Evil Clive must take responsibility for the incident.

Thank you Enrique for being so understanding. Smiley

Phil....
The Results table shows my car as the Ferrari 555, but I am sure that I used the 625?. I have no setups for the 555 and it would have cost me an extra 2 tokens  Shocked. (Far too much to spend upon a Ferrari IMHO  Roll Eyes).
Vast amounts of spare Thornton Dollars like that might come in handy at the end of the season??  ninja

Sadly, GPL Weekly has it listed as the 625.  There I was thinking that you had made a blunder.  Roll Eyes

Thanks for sorting that Axel. The 625 and 555 are hard to distinguish between in the parser, my mistake I mapped it wrong, SRou worked fine. Now Axel has sorted it, future imports should be OK.

Yes Phil the line produced by rpydump to SROU is misunderstandable:

Ferrari 625    Scuderia Ferrari    1955    Ferrari 555/F1 S4    F1-55    464552

Comes from:
team=Scuderia Ferrari;chassis=Ferrari 625;engine=Ferrari 555/F1 S4;year=1955

I'm greatly disappointed to find that we don't race again until September!

It's great to see your enthusiasm Clive but I suspect a lot of drivers, never mind the mods, need a break at some point. So why not August when a lot of people will take holidays? Although a staycation is quite likely now, it wasn't when we planned the calendar.

However we will endevour to run a few fun races in the Summer break. Ideally a fun race would be novel and something that we don't normally do. Do you have any suggestions? Perhaps a 55GP race at Targa Florio or the IOM Full Mountain course? Maybe an oval race where the brakes aren't such a factor?

I'm more than happy to run a fun race of your choosing  thumbup1

Guess I should not begrudge the mods their break.   Grin   thumbup1

As for your "novelty" suggestions, LOL, I think that you have managed to pick three things that I would not be interested in!

As for novelty, perhaps we could adopt a format similar to that used by PDLR recently.  A short "heat" to determine grid positions for the main race and the main race being run in reverse grid order.  Points for both races but the short race has half points.

I'm sure Tago could sort it, so long as he hasn't gone to the coast for August.  Roll Eyes

Totally happy with your proposal Clive. I can create a race post for you if you want to fill in the details. The normal UKGPL Sunday 21:00 GMT+1 or Tuesday 21:00 GMT+1 slots are available in the next couple of weeks. Which slot do you want? This Sunday?

If Tago can provide a server that would be great but I'm happy to provide mine if you like. I assume either you or Tago would organise the drivers on the day and make sure they join the server in the right order?

I think that it works best if the person running the server controls the order of entry for the second race.  Although I could use my server to be in the iGOR chat room.

I have not yey spoken to Tago with regards to the PDLR server being able to run 60fps.

OK I'll post a race announcement. Please fill in the details as you see fit and we can sort out the server duties later. What track do you want to use?

I would go for Aintree and keep to a Sunday night as those who race 55mod already have Sundays ring fenced for racing.

Slick work Phil.

I will try to play with iGOR tomorrow to invent a pit lane marshal.

Could we please cut qually to ten minutes, and then  allow me 5min ish to sort the grid for the main race.  Plenty of practice time available in the "heat".

It would be useful if people intending to run can post on the race thread.
