Bonus point for pole position and best lap ...at Guaporé !

  • Leo Menegucci — Bonus points for pole and best lap — 2 bonus point(s)

On lap one, turn one, Tristan has lost control at the approach of the braking zone ==> Simple rear end shunt ==> penalty 1 place + 1 for first lap

Server replay time: 0h01m09s

This one is worst in my opinion : Tristan was in full control (car was stopped just before) but made a very bad rejoin on track when Phil was coming, contact was done and several cars impacted ==> blatant bad rejoin = 2 places

A great victory for Greg!  Well done, sir.  But, oh my, poor Frank...

I thought that the Ferrari would be a good ride here at the Norisring and wasn't disappointed.  I bested my PB from pre-race trials but a couple of tenths to start P3.  Quite satisfied with that.

I got a nice launch to follow Frank and Greg down to T1 where, on braking, I saw this Cooper looming up large in my mirror left.  I doubted this would be Jonny...he exercises good judgement...so it could only be Bot.  At the last moment before turn-in, I eased my braking very slightly to give the Cooper some room praying that he didn't hit me.  I believe that I gave Greg a gentle nudge in the tail as I started to round the corner.  Pleased to see that it did not give him grief.  The grief was coming my way.  As is so often the case, Bot body-slammed me into a spin and started a monster shunt for so many trailing.  You had maybe a 10% chance of pulling that off, Bot, and most of that only because you climbed the curb on the inside.  When, oh when, will you ever behave?  Look at the damage and chaos you caused.  Sad

Clive and Jonny suffered engine failures.  Bad luck, gys.  Most likely the root cause was the Lap01 shunt.

I recovered from being bounced around to emerge in P7 with the Ferrari seemingly no worse for wear.  Over the next handful of laps, I had to work hard to get by the BRM's of Bob and Leo to ultimately claim P3.  Greg was well up the road and out of reach unless some disaster befell him.  For many a lap, it was keep up the pace and watch the laps tick off.  With just one lap to run, my pit board showed that Frank was now P2 so Greg must have taken the lead.  When I took the checker, I was confident of P3.  Imagine my shock and surprise to see that I was P2 with Frank nowhere to be seen.  In scoping the replay cap, I saw that Frank had been cruelly robbed of a good win thanks to the frailty of the Lotus.  What seemed to be a minor biff of a guardrail pruned off his LF wheel.  In trying to manage the car to finish, it got away from him completely on braking for T1.  What a sad and undeserved fate.

From the replay cap, I noted the drama for some before they even got to the SFline to start Lap01.  Heavens!  That Fulvio could recover from that to score a podium was nothing short of remarkable.  I guess that shows that one must never give up.

Thanks for the kind words guys thumbup1 !

As Doni says it was indeed quite a minor tap against the guardrail that took my wheel off, which made it all the more depressing lol. Bloody Lotus.

Oh and did I mention that this would have been my first GPL victory since November.... of 2009 lmao ? There must be kids simracing online today that weren't born in two thousand freaking nine  Grin ! Granted I only did around 25 GPL races since that 2009 win, but still that was quite a bummer to say the least. Now I know how Senna felt at Monaco in 1988 lol.

Well, turned out to be a lot more fun than expected.  Re my earlier post, this was a new track for me and my first impression wasn't great, so I decided to take the BRM.  I adapted one of Hristo's Solitude setups since it's anti clock, then changed almost everything during qual (tyre pressure, toe-in, camber, diff, gearing!).  The resultant setup seemed reasonable and I was happy with 8th on the grid.

So, T1... having jumped past Leo at the start I was expecting carnage at T1 and wasn't disappointed  Tongue Shocked the question was, where to go, since I was on a wide line I stayed so and managed to avoid the wreckage until Leo walloped my gearbox thrusting me into the air and crashing back down hard.  Amazingly I could continue once I found 1st and my car seemed undamaged, least, as far as I could tell  Grin  I then followed Leo and Carsten, both in BRMs but soon had Donald breathing down my neck.  He didn't stay there long though and was soon past the gaggle and cleared off, great driving.  After many laps I managed to chase Leo down, however, I now had Enrique on my tail, showing me his nose and almost getting it chopped off (after watching the rpy I'm amazed we didn't collide).  I almost let you past Enrique, you were a lot faster and seemed to be playing!  I suppose my random lines into T1 were hard to judge.  I too had to be careful since I gained loads on Leo into T1 and mounted the kerbs on several occasions in avoidance.  Shortly after I snatched 2nd too aggressively outta T1 and lost it.

In the end after running 5th for most of the race, then briefly 4th, I ended-up 6th, slightly gutting but if offered that before the race I'd have taken it.

Cheers for the racing and organizing,

Bob

I think that some red tickets should be raised for L1 crashes.  Roll Eyes
I started dead last after start crash and the podium was an unexpected result.

Fulvio,

"Only reported incident will be moderated"

So no reported incident = no red ticket

I am not speaking about T1 incident but about your start crash ...

No problem for my crash, Rick already explained and apologized. Plus I had my revenge at the end  Grin
