Season 40 – 1955 Grand Prix – Round 7 – Works - Tripoli 1937

This race announcement is for the WORKS.

The seventh race in the 1955 Grand Prix series we are going to Libya. We visit the very fast circuit at Mellaha Lake, Tripoli. The track was a 13.140 kilometre (8.165 mi) long affair situated in a salt basin between Tripoli, Suq al Jum'ah and Tajura and around the Mellaha Air Base. The track's most distinctive landmark was a brilliant white concrete tower situated across from a large front stretch grandstand that could hold up to ten thousand people. Mellaha Lake was equipped with starting lights, an innovation, and the additional amenities rivalled the best that continental European circuits had to offer. Back in the late thirties this was the fastest track of the world.

Apologies for posting a question here. But does anyone know if the GPL track data base and/or smrz sites are down?

OK, thanks for the prompt. I'll check my calculations when I get back on my computer. I can't check the results easily from my mobile phone.

You are right Claudio, you have 40 tokens. In my spreadsheet I mistakenly had you in the Connaught at Brands when you actually drove the Gordini. Spreadsheet and race announcement corrected, thanks for checking.

Hello, I'm Moises a reserve player. I want to apologize for touching a Mercedes at First lap, i was driving a Lancia. That's all my fault. I will try to do better next.

Great racing with  Yannick and Enrique.

Next time I must concentrate on the corner in front of me rather than be trying to work out a cunning plan for the next lap!

Don't worry Bastian it wasn't your fault, I was just unlucky. I had out-braked myself and shot off onto the grass. I saw you coming and so I waited on the grass ready to re-join once you had passed by. Unfortunately I had parked up in the run off area Roll Eyes. A stupid thing to do. I'll remember for next time and wait in a safer area.

Hi Moises, I think that might have been me. Don't worry it was a hectic start. Take your time in the next race and try to settle in. You can't win on the first lap but you can easily crash out. I hope you enjoyed your first race with UKGPL, even if it was a bit short. Better luck next time.

It was a very bad race, in the transition from qualy to race, I did a calibration on the steering wheel and I don't know why the brake was almost on / off. This made me lose a lot of time and it took me 5 laps to adapt to this damn brake, luckily my car didn't break down, in fact I hit the wall about 4 times.....it was a miracle, then I managed to get used to it and do laps averages and finish this painful race.

Congratulations to the podium!!! You were too far away, I couldn't see you! Smiley

a race, quite stressful for me, since I have a dog that suffers epileptic seizures every 1, 2 or 3 months and today was one of those days, when he had his seizures.
Fortunately, my wife is with me and between the two of us, we assisted her in her attacks, I was able to enter the server with 20 minutes left before the end of the qualy.
I was only able to do a good lap and with 5 minutes remaining, to finish the qualy, another attack came on him, I was going to withdraw from the race, but my wife told me to run calmly (well, not very calmly) and so I did.
I had a very good start and I placed second, but I just wanted to run safely, I'm not fighting for the championship or anything, and I didn't want to harm those who are leading the general table, and even though I made small mistakes, I was able to keep among the top 3,
with 2 laps to go i saw clive go off in the first corner hard and i caught up with him as i was 10 seconds behind him and yannick.
I saw how Clive was able to return to the track and I didn't want to fight for the position, as I said before, they are both fighting for the championship and I don't want to interfere much, then I stayed behind Clyve, the final 2 laps, without the slightest intention of fighting for 2nd place , since it is also teamy and the points for the team are good. Grin
very good recovery yannick a great runner also good race with you clive,.... Smiley
I was able to finish it, because my dog did not have any more seizures, and at the time I am writing this, they have not had it again, I hope they are finished.
There are 3 races left, I will try to get into the top 5, it is my goal ..... Grin
