As there are some spaces on the grid I will make up the numbers (quantity not quality).

Driven a few laps practice so I know where to brake and where to "Nobrakes".

I did install the brake light patch at some stage but not entirely sure it works. Unlikely to be a problem as there are not many occasions when a car is behind me.

Philippe,
If you read this - download the track from the link.
Make a new folder in your "Tracks" folder in Sierra GPL called "Carthage 33". Copy the download into the "Carthage 33". Install & it will open up new files including a track installer.
If it has the chicane before the pits you will be OK.

Congrats Yannick! I needed to be very consistent to have a good chance.

I didn't get much practice beforehand, but I know most of the track well. My Spa67 setup didn't need much work for this track. This was my first time on 1933 Carthage. I never drove the chicane until minutes before qualifying. Luckily the rest of the track is the same as 1935.

This was my first online Sports Car race running Linux. It's working decent except I get some stutters every lap. It doesn't seem to do it offline and it's not the chat messages. When it stutters, I sometimes can see the frame rate drops to 58. I had the same problem with a 69X race on Wednesday. I get one stutter at the back of a full field offline after that it runs 60 fps in lots of traffic. So, I think the computer is good enough to run GPL without problems.

Thanks for the fun guys.

Yes, great fun track, I messed T1 with not having done a lap with racefuel...

Greg, look for the cpupower-gui tool as the Ryzen falls asleep - set it to "performance" mode  Wink

I have driven the 1935 variant, but I don't recall having raced either chicane variants.
It's a real buzzkill, if you ask me.

Dueled with Greg for the first half of the race until he dipped a tyre in the fast left-hander before the twisty section and made a long desert trip, giving me a pretty strong gap to work with for the latter half of the race. I had two moments myself where I undid some of the advantage I had, but had plenty spare to take first.

See you next race!

Grats to the podium and finishers.

I have not driven the chicane version before and I am undecided about whether I like it. Yes, it adds another challenge for drivers to negotiate on a track that is 95% full throttle but now with a slow technical diversion?, but maybe the appeal of Carthage 35 IS that high speed insanity. My Mk4 was hitting 220mph on some sections, which is also quite a buzz lol.

Apologies to Billy for the contact.
I think I have to concentrate a little more on my on track decisions, as lately I have been doing too many dumb things that often end my races prematurely.
Carta33 was exactly that. I got a better run through the tricky left hander in the desert and was clearly faster on the exit than Bill's Ferrari, so I aimed for a pass on Bill's left. But, Bill was moving across quite legally and the gap was closing. It is immaterial whether he was "defending" or just had not seen my move. I should have lifted when it was obvious that I was only going to get 50% alongside before I was on the sand. instead of which I kept my foot planted like a frustrated Kamikazi pilot.
Fortunately Bill was able to recover and carry on, but I had already used my single SnG after running wide on cold tyres at the hairpin on lap 1.

Yes it was also my first time Carta with a chicane  Grin

When I made the track selection I looked in Jani's collection of 10k plus tracks - so I found when posting this race post that carta33 has a chicane...

IMO it is a good version to avoid those hairy moments when people leave the pits and you pass with >300kph  Wink

I clearly made a poor choice of chassis for this track.

Can someone let me know what everyone else will be driving at Spa?

No issue with the contact Clive. I was quite happy to make room for a pass on a straight piece of road - having worked out the Ferrari was outclassed for top speed. I wasn't expecting a pass at that point.

Overall I prefer the chicane version. Carthage has some very long straights where my concentration starts to wander.

Ford Mk2's rule the day!  Bravo to our podium.

Not a lot to report other than a few exciting laps dueling with Axel.  That was fun!

Ultimately, lost sight of my brake marker for T2, Soukra, and binned it.
