Moderator's Report

No reported incidents. Thank you to Yannick who suggested that we run the 66 Mod here. The slipstream effect at Monza makes for some fun racing at 'The Cathedral of Speed'.

Season 41 - Ferrari Challenge  ROUND 3  1966F1  Monza 10k

Where better to race your Ferrari than at Monza? The slipstream effect of the 1966 Mod should make for some exciting racing. The Autodromo Nazionale Monza is a race track located near the city of Monza, north of Milan.  Built in the Royal Villa of Monza park in a woodland setting, the circuit has gone through numerous changes over the years.  Perhaps the most striking feature in the park is the steep banked (sopraelevata) curves on the now defunct 10Km variant, first used in 1955.  The original circuit (used between 1922 and 1933) also had an oval section but the banked curves were not as wide or as steep as the later 1955 variant.  The banked circuit was used on four occasions for Formula 1 races; in 1955, 1956, 1960 and finally in 1961 when it was decided that Formula 1 cars were just too fast to be safe on the oval track.   The banked oval section was last used in any capacity in 1969.  From 1962 onwards, the Formula 1 Grand Prix was held on the "road circuit" which by the early 1970s was also deemed to be too fast for Formula 1 cars.

Like is common with racing at Monza 10K, many crashes and incidents early in the race did shuffle the field around,
and all in all, Tristan profited greatly and got a strong win under his belt.

I had hopes to gradually close up to him by the end as the amount of competitors around me shrunk. Unfortunately, no one really seemed to get the bigger picture and just focused on fighting one another and sabotage the efforts...  no

after an accident in lesmos and having lost 8 positions  Sad, I was able to recover very well, until I caught up with yannick, who came 2, tristan was 15 seconds ahead and it seemed impossible to catch up, so the fight was for second place, despite having had a very strong and very clean fight with yannick, there was no chance of reaching tristan like that, we changed places every lap, that's how I saw it, and my goal was the fight for 2nd place, because of the incident I had at the beginning, I lost all chances of trying to win this race, but fighting for the podium was my goal. Smiley
for 15 laps it was "take and give me the Dutch" and with great respect I ran as equals with him, I know he is one of the best runners in the world but I had a way to fight him and I was going to fight him.
at the end at the entrance and to the main straight, he came out very close to my exhausts, and with suction that "touched" me from behind and he could not avoid the spin that caused him to lose that 2nd place, if it was my fault I ask you for a Sorry, but from my point of view, I was not to blame for that incident, I just think you mistimed the overtake, and you hit me. Anyway, I really liked our race, very, very professional, (remember that you also hit me in one of the banked curves that almost made me kill myself) so the fight was "thorough".
this time I had to get 2 to me.
congratulations tristan, it's a shame to have lost so much time, maybe we would have had a fight, like the one I had with yan.
I hope to be able to run next time
  Thank you

Another race for me with a wall of cars blocking my way on lap 1. I had to wait for everyone to pass before rejoining at the back of the field.

Happy to finish 7th after a good battle with Axel and some misfortune of Dave C's on the last lap.

Ferraris at Monza. What could be better?
