Season 41 - SCX67 Cup – Round 5 - Dundrod

We will drive the old (1965) version!

For the 5th race of the 1967 Sports Cars Cup we visit Dundrod in Northern Ireland. The Dundrod Circuit was first used in 1950 for the RAC Tourist Trophy Sports Car race and for the Formula One (non-championship) Ulster Trophy. The Sports Cars raced again in 1951 through to 1955 and the Formula 1 cars from 1951 through to 1953. The circuit comprised public roads closed for racing including a section of the B38 Hannahstown Road between Glenavy and Hannahstown, a section of the B101 Leathemstown Road from Leathemstown Corner to Dundrod and a section of the B153 Quarterland/Tornagrough Road from Cochranstown to the road junction of the B38 Upper Springsfield Road/Hannahstown Road at the Lindsay Hairpin. The last car race held on the Dundrod Circuit was the 1955 RAC Tourist Trophy race in which sadly there were 3 fatalities. The narrow, high-speed nature of the circuit, meant it was just too dangerous and since then it has only been used for motorcycle racing.

Please check the Season 41 details regarding rules and the 1967 Sports Cars Championship pages in particular.
In order to add an element of realism, and to hopefully reduce the possibility of rear-end incidents, the brake light patch will be used  eek

Yes 1955 - is the newer track, little line changes but more reliable.

Bigger differnce with the esses and a narrower hairpin

for switch off the noise put these files in the folder - silence!

Thx Axel, but I had many problems with this version in last 55 race as for my post:
https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=32151.msg611021#msg611021

and many other had CTD/freeze problems.

UPDATE:
My fps problem were fixed by the Simpler Grasses patch and even better by DUNDROD 1955 LITE Build 1.1

OK

My main problem with Dund1955 is the hairpin that can not be taken in one line by some cars!!!

Switch the track to the old Dundrod 1965 of 2004
I post my working folder, just add the track to your season.ini with GEM+

So annoying Sad

I had Q2 and then I had such bad lag that I really couldn't continue. I would have been a danger to everyone and myself. No option other than to quit. Hope you all had fun.

 Wink

Fun thing, I also gave the way to Yannick not less than ...four times during the race !  (two in the first lap although I was starting the race far behind him, and two times on the final laps ..)

I wonder how many resets he made  Grin  three or four ?

Beware, only one shift-r is allowed in this serie.

Quite an enjoyable experience.  I took the alfa. A really cracking car. I was exactly where I expected to be "at the back" but everytime we race here I like it a little more.

Get lapped I think twice. I don't think I caused you fast guys any problems and tried hard to keep out of the way but, boy some of you were passing me at incredible speeds. My issue was trying to see you behind me with only one mirror.

I passed a few guys, only due to them taking to the fields, but once they were sorted they passed me again. Until I saw them in trouble again. Eventually ended up a bit lonely but still thought it was more fun than watching the TV. LOL.

One last thing, I just so we know how many may have suffered track glitches etc I didn't disco.. I passed the start finish line while the guy on the podium was waving the flag. I stopped but as I was I think 2 laps behind I thought I'd done enough. Connection and track were perfect for me. 60fps solid. Even at the back of the grid. For those of you "speedy gonzales" types that never start at the back... the view was very nice too.

Ginetto made the virtual mirror for the Alfa - wich I helped to place it in the windshield...

Go to the car folder Wink

Bravo to our podium!  Another standout drive from Greg!  Well done, chaps.

Got a major shock on joining the server as I had some laps in pre-race trials on the wrong Dundrod.  YIKES!  I was prepared for dund1955, not the old version.  Of course, there are many similarities but there are subtle differences.  Caught completely off-guard, I proceeded to make a nonsense of qualifying with my first two laps recorded after having to reset along the way.  LOL!  Finally settled down and resolved to just take it easy in the race.

That was going pretty much to plan til a minor spin in Wheeler's set me back a bit.  Another lap or so in the can and a minor off at Deer's Leap scared the **** out of me but I survived it.  As luck would have it, I was running in the top three til Lap11 when a major off at Deer's Leap put me into the scenery where I got stuck fast.  I'd had quite enough to this point so called it a day.

Sorry to say, it seems that not everybody is aware that we have 1x shift+r allowed in this series...

My intention was to make this series a little endurance, so you have to be more carefull.
