Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 0h09m53s

Alain is leading Tristan on the approach to Moss. Alain makes a minor error which compromises his entry to the corner and slows him more than usual. Tristan is very close and there is apparent contact.

Alain did nothing wrong.

Tristan is very close but he isn't trying to overtake.

The server replay suggests there isn't any real contact. The contact registered on Alain's client is due to warp. The Recommended Driver Behaviour states "Avoid close racing when its not necessary. Not only does very close driving give you very little time to react if the need arises, it also increases very much the likelihood of a internet-lag-time caused collision." In effect drivers should only get close when they are trying to overtake.

..........an accident made me go out today. I made a mistake at turn 5, and inside the car I had the impression that I was very close to the grass, and I accelerated to throw the car away as quickly as possible, but in fact the car was in the middle of the asphalt, so Leo chose the most logical side to avoid my car. But I was just accelerating to the chosen side after Leo, I'm sorry Leo, I hope the race continues. The correct thing would be to stay still, but at the moment the first idea would be to cross with the car, and to make matters worse the yellow flag did not work.

  Congrats podium!

Doni... so sorry. This one will have to go down as a 'bad rejoin' on my part. Ordinarily it would have been OK, but it just happened to be over the blind crest of T2. To make matters worse, it was in the way of you who doesn't use Pribluda. Looking at the replay, there was a yellow flag from your cockpit but by the time you'd come over the crest there was a big fat BRM sat in your path.

So sorry for ruining you race.

As punishment, I'm taking the BRM all season.

<SNIP!>

Just re: flags. I believe that if you switch view to look from another car / the flags displayed are from the perspective of your game,  not necessarily what would be seen by other drivers.

(although you'd expect everything to stay in step as much as possible).

THX ALL for racing ....& Org.

I've never been good at Mosport, it is one of my bogey circuits. So I was very pleased to be circulating in 5th with 5 laps to go. I was holding off Fulvio (who was faster than me but couldn't get past me in his Cooper) thanks to the power of the Repco motor but then Bob caught us up. He quickly despatched Fulvio and was immediately on my case. I tried to stay ahead, but without a power advantage trying to hold off Bob (who is a better driver than me and was in the same car) was futile. I tried to make it difficult but he made a very brave pass on the outside at turn 4 and he was through. I tried to follow him through Moss but I clipped the white line and spun. This allowed Fulvio to mug me for 6th place  taz  Still 7th is pretty good  Grin

Grats to Doni on a podium and the lead in the championship. You've certainly upped your game this season, I can't get anywhere near you  Shocked

Certainly coming up trumps of late.  Three races and three good finishes.  How long can it last?

Sorry to see that Greg had engine troubles.  He had the race in his pocket til...

Quite satisfied to set a new PB in qualifying by 4/10s to start P4 and this despite throwing it off the road a couple of times.  It was looking quite grim for a while there.

Gained a couple of spots early on when first, Bot, fell off the road and then Baab did likewise.  Had big pressure from Alain til Bot punted him off.  Ran a good but distant P2 til Bot settled in on my tail.  It took a lap for my pit guy to advise just whom this was on my tail and once I saw that it was Bot, thought it best to let him go rather than be shunted off.  Settled nicely into P3 with Alain coming back at me when I crested the hill at T2 to find Pete's BRM near stopped and right on the line.  I think that I caught sight of a steady yellow from the flaggie but was taken completely by surprise in going over the crest.  A closing speed of some 100mph at first sight.  WAMO!  A lurid spin for me but a DNF for Pete with his BRM turned turtle.  Sorry, Pete.

Incredibly, the BT24 seemed no less the worse for wear and I didn't note any loss of performance.  Alain was long gone by the time I recovered from the incident with Pete but I had a reasonable cushion on Frank.  With Greg's engine on 3-1/2 cylinders, grought it home to a lucky P3.

Congrats Tristan, Alain, and Doni! I can´t match Tristan´s speed. My best hope was making less mistakes. He made the first mistake. I made the biggest mistake.

It´s a shame I damaged my engine. I tried a little too much and I was a little careless with my shifting. I was trying to open a gap that Tristan had to average 0.5 seconds faster per lap to catch me. With 24 laps to go I had an 11 second lead. Then I lifted 1-2 meters late for T8 (end of the backstraight), I went off losing 4 seconds. That got me to push the car more. I held the 7 second lead for a little while. I hoped to keep that lead to the 14 laps remaining point and then I was going to take it easier on the car. I suspect I could have been over revving the engine a little exiting T3 and it was at high rpm before T3, and I think some of my shifts on the back straight could have been bad too.

I worried about over heating my tires but I got that under control before qualifying started. I´m tough on the Brabham´s tires. I still have to learn to take better care of the engine. I also have a problem with the Brabham surprising me. Sometimes the car will bounce and then I fishtail off the track. I don´t seem to have that problem with most of the other cars.

It was interesting seeing Doni show some good strength on his home track. Like Doni, I set a new fast lap in qualifying. His time was less than 0.1 seconds off my old best. This year I am intent on learning to drive the Brabham better.

With Greg's engine on 3-1/2 cylinders,

That´s funny. 3.5 cylinders might be correct. My top speed was cut to 112 mph. I wondered if my old Nissan Primera sedan (Infiniti G20) might go faster than my weakened Brabham. The old sedan is a 4 cylinder.

I needed a solid finish to stay in the championship race. This might have been the mistake I couldn´t afford. Kudos to Doni for taking the points lead! Smiley Leo, Jonny, and Phil appear to be setting themselves up to use the mighty Lotus at some point. Leo is in good shape and Frank´s consistency is working well for him. It´s going to be an interesting season.

Thanks for the kind words Phil, but I don't think that's true, some circuits you're definitely faster on.

My goal was to finish the race, which I just managed despite an early spin after cutting T1 too much and numerous other incidents.  Not one of my best efforts but quite a bit of fun as I yo-yoed mostly down the order  laugh.  When approaching the hairpin on one lap I found a BRM broadside across the track and maybe a cooper lurking, I went off in avoidance then needed to reverse off the banking, coulda ended badly but I seemed to get away with it.

Pleased to have caught you an Fulvio just in-time, Phil, after several attempts!  The pass I pulled on you was accidental, was trying to avoid you after mis-judging your speed down the hill.  I actually wondered whether I'd warped into you or summat as prib showed you a little ways back soon after.  I can also be pleased about my qual time, no sure whether it's a PB given GPL rank is doon, but reckon it must be close.

Cheers for organizing,

Bob

Never mind the incident Jonny, I understand right at the moment you were trying to move the car out of the track, I just had not enough room to brake. I could continue with the car a bit jerky. I saw worst things in the replay.

Congrats Alain and Doni!
