Phil clips the grass on entry to the final grand stand section and this puts him into a spin. He waits for cars to pass but he fails to spot Bastian, or perhaps mis-calculates his entry speed. Phil drifts to the right to get back on track but it's too far across for Bastian to avoid a small clip of tyres. Phil admits that this was a poor re-entry and Bastian has said that this is no matter.

Season 42 - 1965 Round 4   Goodwood

Goodwood 65 in the '65 cars. It doesn't get much better than this. The circuit is known for an accident that finished the career of Stirling Moss. In 1962, Stirling was competing in the International 100 race for Formula One cars when, towards the end of the race, he was attempting to pass Graham Hill’s BRM V8 on the outside of Fordwater bend when his car shot onto the grass and struck a low bank protecting spectators.

Goodwood was closed to competitive racing in 1966 but has been beautifully preserved and used for historic events including the annual ""Goodwood Revival"" Historic car meeting.

The is version of the track remodelled by Ginetto – Goodwood 65.

No Ferrari or Honda

I seem to have lost all ability to join races use the Join button in iGor - it doesn't activate so I can't click it. Wasn't able to join 67 race the other night, or any of the servers online tonight. Is thios related to the ongoing issues with SRMZ, is there a fix... and most importantly, what's the IP address for tonight's race?

If you see servers in the iGOR racelist, you should be able to select it & scroll down the server details to obain the IP address.

But currently UKGPL07 has come online, can see it's 84.64.56.232

Cheers,
Dave.

Going relatively to plan until the screen froze on the 14th lap. Realised I did not install the Track Gap patch when I rebuilt GPL for the new PC - now added.
That might have saved a rather disappointing end to proceedings tonight - also having spend tokens on the BT11.
Sorry to Andreas for the earlier contact. I was watching the mirrors more than the track in front and might have wandered off course.

Dangerous to post before I've seen the replay - but apologies Fran for being on the same bit of track you wanted at T1.

Overall it was a slog. Seems to me that the Cooper needs to be driven a bit like a 1 litre Vauxhall Nova!
Found it difficult to see the track, it was all too grey.  Need to look at that for next time.  Took until about halfway through the race when it seemed better.

Congrats up front.

Good to see a full server - it was working well!  Good going Pete.

Cheers,
Dave.

Yeah, I wonder what was going on and the next time I catch you again you vanished away. So I wonder again.  Smiley All in all never mind. Had a late join and qualified only in 11. Spot. Therefore coming home in the Top 5 is not so bad, I guess.  Wink

The lap times in qually were very fast and very close. The race would be down to who made the least mistakes, unfortunately that wasn't me Roll Eyes. I went off 3 times and that was enough to drop me back to 9th. But I can't complain, when I was circulating the gaps ahead were increasing very slowly lap by lap. The only way I was going to make progress was by others making mistakes ahead. That happened a few times and so I had a few decent battles with Will, Evil, Bob and Andreas. But I wasn't quick enough and the harder I tried the more mistakes I made (pretty obvious really). Grats to Tris on the win and Cookie and Alain for the podium, very impressive driving  I Am Not Worthy.

Sorry if I made any mistakes or if I hindered anyone. Unfortunately I'm slower than you and I'm trying to get back to GPL. After all, I've always been more of an editor than a pilot. However, I tried to give everyone the road more or less correctly when I was lapped but I was very concentrated on trying to stay on the road on the track and improve myself. Anyway, thanks everyone for the fun.

Hi Stefano,

I must say you drove very well indeed. I am also one the slower ones so I will keep you company in the future.

Goodwood is a fabulous track but smaller than some, quite technical and with a full grid like last night is very exciting but busy place to be.

I had a very good race and great nights racing. GPL at its best. It really felt like the real thing last night. Brilliant.

Although due to, I guess enjoyment and enthusiasm, hopefully not any red mist, one two little cheeky moves were made. Not at all so sporting chaps.. a little naughty shall I say.

But the 65s along with Formula 2 cars are easily my favourites. Loving this series. Thanks guys for a fab night's racing.

Hi Stefano,

I must say you drove very well indeed.
Just drive at your own pace Stefano and don't worry about the faster guys, they will get past in their own time. Just focus on the next driver ahead. It looks like that is Paul, the pair of you could have some great battles in latter half of the season if you can just up your pace a tiny bit.

If you are referring to Woodcote on lap 8, sorry if I put you off Paul. I was in an almighty battle with Evil (who was slightly too quick for me) and when he passed you on the grass on the inside, I had to take the wide line on the outside. If I hadn't made the pass I would have lost contact with him there and then. As it was he gradually edged away until his motor popped.

Alain thanks for your sportmansship, but it was me you were fighting with
I was surprised and had not understood what had happened - so I waited to look in the replay for any comment.

As you can see we had no visible contact - but the crashboxes...
You made a clean pass!
