Hi all,

prior to this race would like to make sure my Pribluda is the newest version. at pesent prib.ini in GPL is version = 1.1.2.1

I would also like to know how to get whats been mentioned to me as the "flashing pribluda" up and running.

Prib works fine as far as Im aware and its always beeen useful and I use it all the time. I have looked to see if there is something I have not set to "Yes" in the prib.ini
and all seems fine. no mention though of any other thing i could be turning on.

I think its either supposed to flash part of the dash or the perhaps the pribluda on screen boxes when another car is behind or alongside.

either way I don't think its working.  Any ideas and help greatly appreciated.

paul_v

P.S.  may have found something...  Pribluda Blind Spot version (indicates when car is close behind) added iLvP version

this is on the new GPL Addons site.. might be what im looking for. off to test.

Yep, blind-spot version is the one I use. I hope you find it useful when online. I know I do. It takes a while to configure it to your liking. Good luck.

Paul, I always make sure I am 8 yards (8m) ahead of the other car on the Pribluda distance meter before I move over in front of the other car. I did find an anomaly at Monza. Once in the 71 Can Ams I was high on the banking and Axel was low on the banking, Pribluda read that I was 10m ahead of Axel. I thought I had plenty of room to move in front of Axel, but I almost took his nose off when I dropped to the bottom of the banking.

Paul
I was only made aware of the Blind Spot Pribluda a few days ago (thanks to Pete) so I tried it in the league race on Sunday (I used the standard rather than the iLvP version). I'd spent a fair amount of time editing the pribluda.ini file (for Pribluda 1.1.2.1) so that the displays were of the correct size and in the correct place for my 4k display. Thankfully copying over my old .ini file and just setting the showPatch option under [tyres] to zero, worked well and saved me a lot of hassle. The showPatch option doesn't show tyre patch temperatures in the Blind Spot Pribluda, instead it shows brake bias when the DirtGear patch is used.

Like Greg, with Pribluda 1.1.2.2, I always try to check the player board to make sure there is always 10 yards between me and another car before I move over. However, this is quite hard to do in a race (even though I have my player board positioned centre top of my screen). So on Sunday I found the flashing display with Blind Spot Pribluda was more obvious and worked well at the start and on the rundown to T1.

I'm still undecided as to whether or not I'll use Blind Spot Pribluda from now on. I can achieve the same using Pribluda 1.1.2.1, the danger of a close car is just a bit more obvious with Blind Spot Pribluda. However, I prefer the leaderboard format in Pribluda 1.1.2.1, hence my reluctance to change.

Whatever route you decide to take, the principle at the start has to be to remain on your own side until it is safe to move over. Either version of Pribluda helps to achieve that. And remember with on-line races the car on the outside is always at more risk due to network latency and the associated warp.

Hopefully you will be able to get Blind Spot Pribluda working to your satisfaction for tonight's race. I'll be giving it another go, I'm still undecided about making the switch.

Not such a good one for me this week.

Had an awesome battle with Tom but eventually buckled under the relentless pressure  Shocked

Apologies to Cookie, my tyres were super hot and I totally lost control, I probably should have given that one to you anyway.

See you all next time Smiley

First of all: I apologize for the half-spin I committed in turn 3 on the first lap, caused by avoiding Ulli a little so as not to hit him, it was my fault and thanks to that several accidents occurred....... . Huh
Second of all, I apologize 2 times and strongly to A. Gebhardt may have entered turn 3 very quickly twice and on those two times I took him out of the race, a total mistake of mine, buddy, I have no face.... hang
I was going to retire after I went out only 3 more times on the same curve (it's called lack of training) but I decided to continue doing that since I was in last place, I decided to train that curve well until in the end I managed to master it. well and there are 6 left (I don't know how but there are 6 left). Grin
congratulations Ulli, an unbeatable and unattainable champion, very, very strong, he won almost all the races... impressive, great work.
See you in 15 days, I don't know where, but I'll be there.... Grin

Something was seriously amiss with the car. The acceleration was a dog (Dachshund not a Greyhound). I spent all qualifying trying to find the right gearing  when what was actually needed was 20 seconds blasting the pedals with a vacuum cleaner. Quite relieved because I thought it might have been a rather more complicated fix.

With Honda power to victory - congratulations to Clive and teamie Tom, to the fast BT7 drivers and Axel for the second-best race lap in the Cooper. Big thanks to our admin for the perfect organisation.

Please allow me to make a comment about the track. Our fantastic working GPL community has built over 400 real tracks in the last 25 years (which SIM has to offer that??), for me there really is no need for fantasy ... at most when choosing Wink

Fortunately, one of my favourite tracks is coming up next: the Nürburgring Nordschleife. It won't be easy to drive there with the heavyweight Honda RA 273 - but I'm looking forward to it.
see you all there

Unlucky Billy, but I'm pleased to read you fixed your problem. I wish I had a similar fix for my lack of pace. I always struggle with the low powered cars like the BT7, I'm going to have a look at the replay to work out what I'm doing wrong. Clive proved the BT7 is a capable car in the right hands; a great drive Evil!

Grats to Uli on a dominant win in the mini Wazamobile. Although I almost held on to him in the early laps, I could not find the extra 0.5 secs over a couple of laps to get into the slipstream. Eventually my ambitions overcame my ability and a half spin dashed any hopes of getting into a battle with Uli.

I do enjoy thrashing the life out of the BT7 and this track kind of suited my driving/the low power. I find that getting the gearing right is critical and there are 6 of them to tweak. 1st is generally just for getting off the grid IMHO and after that I aim to keep the revs between 8-10K with a little insurance in 6th for a slipstream.
FWIW as my driving style will not suit everyone  Roll Eyes
The hairpin T3 was all about the approach and getting out of there cleanly and foot to the floor in 2nd gear ( a 45/30 diff helped with that) . Once the fuel level had dropped a little I was hitting T1 flat in 6th, dropping to 5th and 4th through T2 with just enough brakes to avoid locking up. Then down to 3rd and into 2nd jsut at the turn in for T3, where I released the brakes to allow the car to rotate naturally. The tail would inevitably step out so an balanced application of gas until the rear end hooked up the grip and then pour on what little power there was  to exit T3 at max veloce. The speed out of T3 dictated the rest of the lap really as the sweepers were taken at 95% flat.
The long right hander at the end of the lap had 3rd gear dedicated to it so that, if I got it right, I was entering the corner in a drift and pouring on the gas from the bottom end of the torque curve in 3rd. The natural oversteer and slight lack of power worked to my advantage and the car picked up pace all the way through that turn to exit onto the straight at max revs ready for 4th-5th past the pit entry and up to 6th, which maxed out at only 9.5K because I was hoping for a tow at some point.
Max revs were kept to 10K for reliability.

Grats to Uli on the win. I reckon that we need to re-think the car groupings as those Hondas are mighty fast.

With regards to circuits, it's great to have 400 real tracks on the GPL track database but even better to have 200 fantasy ones as well. Leaside is a fun track which feels pretty 'real' to me. If it had existed in real-life then I'm sure more leagues would choose to drive it. As a newbie track-builder myself, I also know how great it feels to see other GPLers driving around my tracks. Paul Skingley has done such a good job here that it deserves to be downloaded and driven. It takes hundreds of hours to create a track of this quality and the best way to show our appreciation is to drive EVERY track in the track database. It also encourages us track builders to stick at it and create more.

... my track #4 is making steady (but slow progress).

I'm happy to take suggestions and recommendations for the track choice for S44; fantasy or otherwise.

See you on the track soon.

Pete
