Season 43 - 1955GP - Round 6 – TripoliFor the sixth race in the 1955 Grand Prix series we are going to Libya. We visit the very fast circuit at Mellaha Lake, Tripoli. The track was a 13.140 kilometre (8.165 mi) long affair situated in a salt basin between Tripoli, Suq al Jum'ah and Tajura and around the Mellaha Air Base. The track's most distinctive landmark was a brilliant white concrete tower situated across from a large front stretch grandstand that could hold up to ten thousand people. Mellaha Lake was equipped with starting lights, an innovation, and the additional amenities rivalled the best that continental European circuits had to offer. Please note: A total of 19 drivers registered for the Works and Privateers so there is no need to run two servers. Consequently one server will be used but the Privateers will have their own championship.

What Season file have you selected in GEM? By default the track installer will put an entry in the 67season.ini file. There is a season.ini file for each mod. The 1955 season file is called 55season.ini The event number varies with the number of tracks you have in your season.ini file. Mine happens to be the 16th In GEM you can select the 67season to run with the 55 mod (I'd recommend you try this) or You can use the Season Manager to update the 55season.ini file but I think there may be a problem with the SGEM file since we lost the SRMZ site. or You can manually edit your 55season.ini file by adding the following lines (amending the event number and total number of events as appropriate) [Event16]

trackDirectory=tripoli

month=5
day=9
numberOfLaps=25

The track should be in a folder called tripoli. If you use the default installation directory, it will be: C:\Sierra\GPL\tracks\tripoli I've processed your registration so you are now licensed. |

I was adding tripoli_gpl not Tripoli. Works now
I have added to all seasons. What is "05" season?

I forgot to answer that question. Like Clive, I've no idea.  I suspect it is just a test season that was bundled with GEM. It doesn't need to be there so you can delete it if you like. |

Thanks Clive. Martin is my "Sunday Name" most people know me as "Matt" Mr Rowe if you are uncomfortable with that  Phspok is a perversion of an Alien's name (not that I drive like one) from a Larry Niven book "Protector" I am loving this 55 series so far. The Gordini is not fast, but huge fun here  |

Trust Mr Loynes to conscript yet another recruit for the Soggy Bottomers lol. That must be at least 300 in that team now?? As for the 55's it would seem that they are a bit "marmite" some love the challenge and some simply cannot stand the brake fade. I think they are huge fun |

Engine sound cuts out completely when downshifting from third to second. It's only for a moment, but it's very distracting. It happened at Reims with Mercedes, and it's happening here, in the same way with Ferrari. Anybody else have this issue?

I don't think I have heard of that before Syd. Is it always and only downshifting 3rd to 2nd?? Could it be your carsound file has been corrupted, so maybe try downloading and installing a different car sound file??
No reason for offering that as a solution other than a wild stab in the dark.

Always on 3rd to 2nd and with two different cars (only two that I have tried, I don't know if it happens on others). |
