Autódromo José Carlos Pace, also known as Interlagos, is in the city of São Paulo, in the neighborhood of Interlagos. It is named after Brazilian Formula One driver Carlos Pace, who died in a plane crash in 1977. It has hosted the Formula One Brazilian Grand Prix since 1973.  The race won by defending Formula One World Champion and São Paulo local Emerson Fittipaldi. Fittipaldi won the race again the following year in bad weather and Brazilian driver José Carlos Pace won his only race at Interlagos in 1975.

Not going to be at this one. In fact, Sundays are almost all out of GPL action for me until late March. Hey ho! Have a fun start to the season.

The bumps are indeed hard, also to avoid them, you need to put some understeer into the car which is not comfortable for the fast corners. However, I believe with some luck, I will be able to survive with my BRM, which will be my goal for this track.

After hell of a test and playing with the BRM setup, I was able to finally do a decent lap - 2:53.9 with 61 liters, second hot lap. Car feels a little bit understeery, but can handle the bumps, I have no more ideas how to improve it from here, so I guess this is going to be the setup.

Well I managed to get down to a sub 2min55s lap in race conditions and I didn't make any mistakes. So objective achieved, I'm happy with that. I had a race long duel with Dulima but no matter how much pressure I put him under he didn't crack! He only gave me once chance to pass when he went a bit wide at Curva 3 (the end of the long straight) and I went for the inside line. Unfortunately for me he collected the car and got the power down to keep his momentum. I left him space but in doing that I was a bit slow on the exit, and he repassed me. To rub salt into my wounds Dimitar followed him through and so instead of gaining a place, I lost one. With just 2 laps to go I had to try to catch up. Fortunately for me Dimitar spun at Curva 1 and I got the place back.  I managed to close the gap on the last lap but Dulima had it in the bag and cruised to the line. Good clean racing gents, I enjoyed that.

Phil, what a spectacle! Disputes like this make me more and more a fan of the GPL!

When the race ended, it took me about 30 minutes to get my adrenaline down!

That fight that the three of us had on the second leg of the opposite straight was epic!

I really lost my route, you took advantage of the opportunity, respected your line and we had a battle worthy of professional pilots!

Phil and Dimitar, you were professional and very clean, thank you for giving me a race that I won't forget, regardless of results, that's GPL!

The old layout of Interlagos is magnificent, it's sad that they ended it.

Jonny, congratulations on pole position and for bringing home the victory!

Fulvio congratulations on second place and Whitewhell, great recovery, closing the podium

Doni, I swear I thought you were on the podium, but in any case, you ran a great race!

Hug to everyone! Let's go to the next one! Long live GPL!

I was a little bit skeptical about this race, as I was not completely happy with the setup at all. However, we had a great fun in mid-table.

I was careful at the start from P7 and lost a position and when I was able to go 2 positions up, after P2 and 3 collided, I span in the middle between corners 3 and 4 by just touching the grass.

I lost few position but I kept going from P10, I believe. Then I was able to drive clean and after more drivers made mistakes I was promoted to P6 again. Then in an attempt to be as fast as possible in the final lap to catch Dulima for P5, I spam again, this time barely touching the grass at the end of turn 1.

At the end - P7, exactly from where I started the race. I am happy, as I take decent points with the slowest car.

I enjoyed my battle with Phil and Dulima btw. I was about 6 seconds behind about 10 laps before the end and was able to catch them and even overtake Phil for a moment, as he wrote above. It was so much fun.

It was so much fun. Now I look a little bit worried ahead for Porto, as the track looks extremely hard. I will need a stale and reliable car there. Smiley

Dulima, Having watched the replay, I had a bit more of an advantage than I realised. I'd got ahead and I could have taken the racing line through the second apex but that would have been too risky. I couldn't see you in my mirrors so I wasn't sure I was ahead. We would have made contact if I'd got it wrong so I'm happy I made the right decision. We both continued the battle unscathed but unluckily for me you didn't make any more mistakes. You drove very well and deserved to be the top BRM  thumbup2  Dimitar made a couple of very tiny mistakes but at this level, the races are decided by very narrow margins. He is a quick learner and I'm certain he is going to be very hard to beat this season.  Shocked  We'll have to be on top form to stay ahead of him in the championship.

These are decisions that must be made in milliseconds, in your place I would have done the same thing, defensive driving to avoid accidents and emphasize fun

In that situation, a wrong move by any of the three of us would be devastating, Dimitar also turned the corner very close to me, I just saw the replay, it was just like I told you, the result doesn't matter, when we have a clean race like from yesterday

Yes, I'm sure Dimitar will be a very competitive driver, thank goodness!

Firstly, sorry to Renato for spinning in front of him at the end of lap 2, then for the contact when rejoining, I didn't realize until I watched the replay, I thought you were collected by a passing car.  From there it was a recovery drive for the both of us, more so for Renato.  I made reasonable progress through the field, lucky that soo many were in BRMs!  Towards the end I was up with Doni and Fulvio.  Having passed Doni I had a few sketchy moments, impeding Doni a bit, before a spin, sorry to scare you Doni, it was close but you just managed to avoid me.  A couple of corners later I managed to go the long way round at Curva do Sol and emerge in-front.  Due to my antics, Fulvio had pulled a decent gap and despite the FL on the last lap, he managed to hold me off for 2nd, well driven Fulvio, I saw you also set your FL on the last lap, keen to hold onto 2nd!  I have to be happy with 3rd, didn't expect much what with the track being so tricky and my erratic style which I need to tame.

Cheers for the orga, see you in Porto where I hope to do better than my last outing when I got caught behind a crash and GPL timed me out after only one corner!

Bob.

P.S Dulima, you can call me Bob Wink

Jonny certainly had us all covered here in Brazil.  Great job to roar to a home win!  Well done, JJ.

Fulvio a splendid run to P2.  He edged me off the start and never looked back.  I chased hard for the most part and was quite close to threaten at times but was never in a position to challenge.

Bad Bob on fire to rip through the field after early dramas to take the final podium step.  Goodness me but he was on a mission!

Not a bad drive for me.  Unlike JJ, I don't particularly care for Interlagos.  It's very technical(whatever that means)and tiring.  Thank goodness for the longish straights where I can take a breather.  Early laps, I had Bot in the BRM marking me closely but ultimately, I was able to open up a useful gap.  Considering the gruesome history we have together, I was thankful for that.  Took over P3 when Bob & Renato collided and looked set for the podium but when I my pitboard flashed me that Bob was now in P4, I figured I'd be under attack soon.  That, indeed, was the case.  He passed with ease at one point but soon spun in front of me to give the place back.  Lucky to avoid a collision there.  With only a couple of laps to run, Bob resumed his march and made a nice if risky pass on the outside of a sweeper to claim P3.  Nice comeback.

Off to Portugal next.  Should be fun!

Oops, finally a victory in mod67, last season I blew up an eagle engine and maybe, in this champ I won't use any Dan Gurney cars.......
I like Interlagos, and yes, it's a tiring, treacherous, long track, but historically a legend in Brazil, this old route.
Luckily I had the best car for Interlagos, the Ferrari, and I was able to enjoy that, Greg, Leo and Farina were absent, Bot with BRM, I think that all helped too.

My race was fast at the beginning to try to escape from Baab and Jungle, but they had an accident and this made it easier for me.

Happy to see my Ferrari teammate in second and the stainless Doni in third.

I believe that everyone who raced in the BRM had a lot of fun, there were a lot of them!!!
