A superb win for Evil Clive in his Maserati 250F, holding off the hard charging and very quick JonnyO in his Mercedes W196. Enrique Farina claimed the final podium spot in another Maserati.

Lap 1 – Start Line – Claudio Navonne and Fulvio Policardi
Claudio appears to bog down at the start and Fulvio jinks left in order to avoid rear ending him. They end up side by side as they accelerate away. Fulvio is in a Connaught and Claudio is in a Ferrari 625, not withstanding Claudio’s slow start, both cars are closing fast on a couple of Gordinis ahead which are notoriously slow starters. Neither driver can see each other and as they both migrate towards the gap between the Gordinis, contact is made. Fulvio is practically unaffected, but Claudio spins off and although his car appears to be undamaged, he loses at lot of time.
Claudio did nothing wrong.
In an effort to miss the left Gordini, Fulvio turned right rather aggressively and consequently encroached on Claudio’s side of the track. There would have been just enough room for both Fulvio and Claudio to squeeze through the gap between the Gordinis thanks to Hristo having the presence of mind to stay well to the right of the track. However, this didn’t happen and contact was made. In mitigation there was some loss of control but Fulvio must shoulder the responsibility for the incident.
The victim requested any penalty is waived.
