I can't believe that someone would run more than half the race in a BRM with a smoking engine and down the groove. The first time Gebhardt and I narrowly avoided it. The second time he made me crash, luckily the Honda was on all 4 wheels, a bit bent but I was able to continue and finish. But the hopes of passing Gebhardt on the last lap were gone. Anyway Gebhardt had won the position half a lap before: congratulations!

I managed to avoid the carnage at the start and I emerged from the smoke and flames behind Evil's big BRM. I followed him for a couple of laps until I saw an opportunity to sneak past on the inside at Bosch Kurve. After that I gradually pulled out a gap and apart from Alain catching and passing me before crashing out at Rindt Kurve, it was a pretty lonely race. Until the last 2 or 3 laps when Evil started to catch me. I made a mistake and then lost a bit more time lapping Syd's limping BRM and all of a sudden Evil was only 65 yards behind me! He must have pushed too hard because at the start of the last lap the gap had grown to 500 yards. All I had to do was cruise round the last lap to pick up 4th place. For some reason I completely cocked up the Bosch Kurve and ripped two wheels off my Brabham. I was so annoyed I didn't hit the escape button fast enough and poor Evil hit my wreck. Fortunately he could continue, sorry mate I should have thought about others and hit the ESC key as soon as I realised my car was undrivable instead of shouting and screaming at the monitor  taz taz taz taz

Congratulations to Patrick, a win on his first UKGPL League race! Well done   thumbup2

a pretty good race for me, despite spending the whole week thinking that mod 55 was being run today...... death
When I turned on the computer and realized that they were training zeltwed, with an hour left before the start of it, I was amazed and immediately started training zeltwed, fortunately I already knew it, but not the Marcos version.
but I had enough time to learn it and make a set up, pretty good.
I regret all the mishaps that happened at the start, Jonnie's disconnection.. hang and the majority of abandonments that this race caused, perhaps I would not have reached the podium if that had not happened......
For Patrick, a big hug for running in this league and always very well received by everyone and especially by me, since he is a worthy and fantastic rival in the Galaxie League... I send him a big hug for this resounding victory, a masterful handling with a fairly strong bird of prey, congratulations pat........ clap
good race from trsitan, quite strong, good for that 2nd place.
I made several mistakes and I hit myself a lot, especially in turn 5 that I don't know how I didn't break the front suspension, and thanks to that I was able to continue, I knew very well that I couldn't reach the Ferrari in front of me and I dedicated myself to staying stable and maintain that great 3rd position, and despite all the blows, I managed to reach the end.
Thank you for everything UKGPL and see you on Sunday in mod 55, since the f2 on Tuesday, I can't run it.

Thank you Dave Phil and Kike for your congratulations, I'm of course happy to have won.

I had to understand all the subtleties of the rules, as a reservist (thanks Dave), and I logged off twice to eventually allow the holders to join the server. When I saw that the number of 17 drivers wasn't moving any more, I stayed, but I missed out on pole by a very small margin, fractured qualifying like that is complicated...!

"Thanks" to Tristan for missing his start, things were much simpler afterwards  Wink despite a few scares with the smoking BRM...!

Thank you to the organisers, I don't know if I'd do all the 67 races, but thank you for your welcome  Smiley

Congratulations to Pat on his win and to Tris and Enrique for the podium places.

Like many drivers this was a new version of the track and I kind of thought that there might be incidents. So rather than risk tokens on an Eagle or Lotus I thought I would run the BRM which is a car that I cannot ever remember using in a league race before ( I just could not find a setup or the skill to drive it quickly!!). So the cunning plan was to just finish and maybe get one or two points??

The start was not good and too many cars were lost. I was behind Dimi on the grid and just like his Ferrari my BRM was moving quite quickly. I was following Dimi and initially looked like we would both overtake Dulima before T1. Then I saw the gap that Dimi had was closing and eased off slightly, but I did not expect what happened next.
I could not avoid the spinning cars and my BRM was launched into the air and I thought my race was going to be very short too. but it landed facing the right way with 4 wheels. So I pushed forward only to see yet another Ferrari contact a car and spin across my path  scared Again I had to back off and wait for a gap before accelerating through and then I saw Axel's engine explode on my right!!

By the time I was exiting T1 I had absolutely no idea of where I was in the field, other than Prib was telling me that Phil was behind in his Brabham. At the end of Lap 1 I was astounded, but not entirely surprised, to be up to 7th place!!! in a BRM??!! I knew from practice that it would take 3-4 laps to bring the tyres up to temp and to push too hard on cold tyres would exceed my skill level to control, so I did not put up too much of a fight against Phil. I let him pass and by then my tyres were getting warm so I was almost able to hold the gap at around 150mtrs for many laps.
Alain had recovered and was clearly faster so I allowed him a free pas to go and bother Phil. That worked  shifty  and their battle slowed them down so I closed the gap before alain squeezed past Phil and they pulled away again until...maybe 2 laps later Alain was limping off the track at the final turn.

There were a few other retirements and with 10 laps to go I was running 5th with Phil up ahead and a huge gap back to Claudio. The BRM was now much lighter having used up 2000 litres of fuel, plus I was getting a good feel for the handling ( after nearly 20yrs of GPL!!!). I started to push a little and the gap to Phil was coming down slowly...maybe 4th was a possibility?
Lap after lap I got closer and I think we lapped Syd's limping BRM twice. Once Phil gained some time and on the other I closed the gap. With just 4 laps to go I was inside slipstream range and ready to start the fight, but I had worked the rears too much and they gave up at T2 spinning me into the grass. Luckily I did not hit anything and I was able to continue, but Phil now had 400mtrs of safety with 3 laps left.
OK, 5th was about 3 times better than I could have expected so just cruise it home and take some points. Then on the final lap all the Marshall's flage were waving because Pat had finished his race. Arriving at the Bosch curve there was a pile of scrap metal parked on the track Huh!!
Phil had completely trashed his Brabham, but my trajectory was taking me straight towards his wreck and I could not avoid him. Another airborne moment to end the race, and again the BRM survived, to take the gift of 4th. Hard luck to Phil and commiserations to all who dropped out for whatever reasons.

While I'm spinning (torture I subject myself to every day) I watch motor racing. I'm watching the 80's race by race and a few months ago I watched this race. Good memory Doni! I watch the races following the chronological order and alternate one F1 race with one or two Indy Cars ( it was rising to its zenith) following the calendar. Today I'm watching San Marino 1988.

Talking about vintage F1. Few years ago I watched the whole of 1990 season, with Senna at his best. It was epic and so much different and fresher than modern F1. I remember 1 of the slower cars taking a podium at Paul Ricard, I believe driven by Ivan Capelli, for not going into pit the whole race. Ahhh, those days...

I am sorry for the mass crash at the start, it was my mistake. But isn't it gonna be good if there are people not starting 1-2 seconds after the green flag? What was I supposed to do? To decrease the pace? That sounds ridiculous as well. I am a racing driver and of course I will go for the gap.
Dimitar you have done the same manouvre as me at '55 race at East London. I was more lucky there and caused less damage, but I was more guilty cause I have been racing online with GPL since early days with 33k modems in '99 and I know well what are the limits of a 25 years old online code. You have good experience of others sim-racer where you can swap paints without many problems, like GTL i.e., but with GPL it'is a no no, so we can take experience from this and move on  Smiley
