Season 44 F1 1967 WORKS – Round 6 –  IMOLA

The sixth race in the 1967 Works Grand Prix series finds us at Imola. The track was inaugurated in 1953, and it had no chicanes, so the run from Rivazza all the way to Tosa, through the pits and the eventually notorious Tamburello was totally flat out, as was the run from Acque Minerali all the way to Rivazza was just a long straight with a few small bends; and the circuit remained in this configuration until 1972. Long time home of the San Marino Grand Prix (and once of the Italian Grand Prix) the circuit is fast, bumpy and dangerous.
After the deaths of Roland Ratzenberger and Ayrton Senna in 1994, the track was remodelled to reduce speeds but we use the original, high speed layout.

THERE ARE MORE THAN 19 REGISTERED DRIVERS IN THIS SERIES, SO :
The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

No practice, no rhythm, no set up, no time today to make up for any of that.. waste of time being there really, 5s off the pace, but tokens and a few points.... still don't explain why I took so long to give up.........

That was a very competitive field, some vary fast times and not much covering the top 15. I had a few decent battles in the early stages and at about half distance I was in 8th place with Doni some 200-300 yards behind. I tried to managed the gap and it was looking good until I made a small mistake and ran wide at Tamburello. I recovered without hitting the fence but by the time I got to Tosa, Doni was all over my gearbox. I figured all I had to do was drive carefully and not make any mistakes and Doni would find it very hard to overtake. The plan was working well for a couple more laps and then my engine packed up  taz  GPL said clutch but the engine was on fire. Anyway race over and a chance to fight with Doni over the last few laps was gone  Sad

A short visit to the 67 season for me. 4 laps and I broke the car. See you at some point later in the season.

It was a race of survival for me, I don't like Imola, but I managed a good time in Qualy, I think. But at the beginning of the race, after the third lap, my neck got stuck, a lot of pain, and there was no chance of competing wheel to wheel with anyone, whoever got too close I would open the door to pass safely. My goal was to reach the end, my neck was giving me no respite and to complete the difficulty the engine started running with just a few cylinders on the last lap, Cornu almost managed to catch up to me.
Congratulations on the podium, I hope for better conditions in the next race.

Grats to the podium and to the finishers.

Sorry to hear about your neck Jonny, but it does explain why you allowed me to pass just when I was expecting a tough battle for the final laps. It took me about 50% of the race to find the groove with the Eagle and actually start to compete.

I had tokens to burn so I treated myself and took Dan Gurney's gem and I did enjoy having such a great car under me. If I had not had a brain fart and run off the track at 2 consecutive corners I might have been bothering Jonathan for a podium place.
Great fun guys, see you next time.

Enzo and Tofosi could not be more pleased with the results from Imola! The bell was heard all around Italy as the Podium was covered in Red.. lol

Well done Triston and RB on a great consistent race.

I botched the start by shifting to early to 2nd, giving you the place. Then ok lap 2 at Rivazza I made a silly mistake clipping the grass which may as well have been wd40 it was so slick. Fell to 7th. I rebounded and climbed back to 3rd. I was over 6 seconds back but I slowly, slowly realed in the leaders. I finally get to RBs tail pipe and he kindly let me by to have a go at Triston
Though I feel his true motives was hoping we would come together and he could pick up the pieces.. laugh But stupidly I overshot Rivazza again.. I resigned myself to 3rd after that.

Well done to all the finishers, this track layout gives no chance to relax..
