Moderator's Report

Lap2 Lol makes a mistake and takes Michael Boylan off. Lol takes a stop and go penalty, unfortunately Michael had another off on the lap and does not retake Lol while Lol is in the pits. Lol would have been awarded a penalty if he had not stopped.

Lap 2 Karl Doyle runs into the back of Paul Bird while they are dicing, Karl did not perform a stop and go and is awarded a warning.

Moderator's Report

Lap 1 turn 3, D.Thompson and D.Hughes

D.Thompson was coming back to speed after a minor incident which slowed him in turn 2, although keeping off the racing line for a while the speed used to slot in behind the last person to pass him, D.Hughes, was too high there was a collision between the two in the corner which I think could have been avoided. A number of other drivers were badly affected by this. Penalty to D.Thompson, 7 points, a stop and go would have negated this to a warning.

Appeal: following a review I think a penalty is too harsh and a warning should be applied, the Lotus should probably have allowed more room for the car he had overtaken however I think a slightly slower entry would have avoided any contact hence keeping the incident as a warning.

Lap 5 just before Moss, P.Bird and A."McDanger"

P.Bird made a slight error and clipped the curb which cost him 5 mph and put him slightly to the left of his normal line. A."McDanger" was running too close at this point and hit him from behind, Whilst Paul made an error, this is not an overtaking area. Warning to A."McDanger" which would have been avoided by a stop and go.

Lap 20 turn 3 D.Thompson and R.Penfold

This is an interesting one as Ryk admitted to not taking this corner in the fastest manner and D.Thompson rear ended him, claiming R.Penfold was slower than on previous laps, however the relative speeds shown for each driver are consistent with previous laps. I really think that either waiting for Ryk to rejoin or taking a stop and go would have been appropriate. Bearing in mind Ryk's comments, warning to D.Thompson, again avoidable by a stop and go.

Start of lap 22 P.Taylor, lap 21 P.Bird

P.Taylor was lost by the server earlier in the race despite being in the lead this is not particularly surprising as the connection quality looks apalling for most of the race for him. He attempted to lap P.Bird over the start/finish straight and P.Bird was subject to a warp induced collision while Paul carried on. I think there are a number of things to draw to drivers attention in this one, firstly if you've been lost by the server drivers being lapped are unlikely to see a blue flag, secondly if you have been lost you probably have a less than satisfactory connection to the server so you should endevour to leave as much room as possible when running close to competitors. P.Taylor did not allow adequate room which resulted in P.Bird being pushed off the track. P.Taylor, 5 point penalty for not taking enough care whilst lapping.

  • Paul Taylor — Inconsiderate lapping — 5.0 championship point(s)

Lol Barker retired after doing 2 shift-r's, because he realised and retired he will keep his finishing position.

Moderator's Report

Well done guys, although a few of you had spins there was no contact I could see in any of them. So an incident free Monza race, that must be some sort of record!

As such there are no official warnings, cautions or spins, however I would ask Mr Beagle to try to improve his actual race driving, pole and a fastest lap in the 27s shows that you had the ability to win this race quite easily if you tempered your speed slightly. None of your incidents caused crashes however, which is good.

Moderator's Report

Lap 1 Ant Miller v Lol Barker

Ant Makes a good move on Lol through the speed trap and is about three quarters of a car length infront approaching Big Bend, he pulls to the left to try to make a better entry for the corner and in so doing his rear wheel touches Lol?s front wheel causing Lol to crash. At this point on the track Lol could not take any avoiding action due to the Armco on the left of him. Ant would have made the pass stick without cutting across ? warning to Ant Miller.

Lap 9 Greg Longfield v Ryk Penfold

Ryk runs a little wide going into turn 2 and a big gap opens up for Greg to try to overtake. However Ryk still has the inside line for the next corner and is running at racing speed, he did not slow sufficiently for Greg to complete the pass. The resultant contact spins Ryk out but does not hamper Greg much. This is a difficult one to call, I have put it down to racing incident, Ryk made a mistake which allowed Greg to try the pass although it did not work out.

Moderator's Report

Lap 1 Turn 1 McDanger v Boylan

McDanger runs into the rear of Michael who was slowing to go through turn 1 and had not had a particularly good entry. The incident hampered McDanger much more than it did Michael who got away with virtually no time delay. Warning to McDanger, this would have been a penalty but for Michael?s poor entry to the corner and the fact that you did not really harm his race.

Lap 1 Turn after hairpin McDanger v Doyle

Karl made a very wide entry into the corner after a mistake but it is clear his trajectory is taking him to a good apex on this narrow corner, he was also clearly infront. Despite this you attempted a pass which resulted in contact and a spin for Karl. However you did wait for Karl to repass so again a potential penalty is reduced to a warning. Karl also took a stop and go so he clearly felt some responsibility in the incident which also mitigates against a penalty.

Lap 2 Hairpin Boylan & McConnell

Racing incident, Michael was trying to pass into a very difficult turn, very tight entry to the corner would have caused you to run wide, while Ash turned in probably too early bearing in mind you were there but probably did not realise how close you were. I think both of you were driving and racing well and this was just unfortunate, as was the second contact which spun Michael as he tried to rejoin at the same time as Ash\, this cost Michael quite a bit of time but I do not think it was deliberate.

Lap 13 Lol Barker v Paul Bird

Paul goes wide into one of the esses and is collected by Lol forcing a shift r for Paul. Lol was in a difficult situation as he had those concrete tyres on one side and Paul on the other. As Lol stopped for a stop and go and Paul retook the position I view this as being self moderated and therefore it is unnecessary for any comment from me.

Lap 1 Hairpin

Von Beagle runs into the back of Ashley McConnell under braking for the hairpin and puts Ash on his head but still running down the track towards the corner. Ash then runs into the back of Paul Taylor a split second behind when Paul and Paul Smith collide (honestly Ash, could you not use look left and right to steer the car with your head!

The latter is caused by a very bad warp from Paul Smith and when he reappears they are both taking the same bit of road. Pete Allnut then adds to the fun as he had to take to the grass to miss the spinning Von Beagle which causes him to cut the corner and pile into the resultant damage. I think there are a few other collisions but I view all of those and the ones above to be result rather than cause with the exception of the initial incident.

Penalty to Von Beagle, 10 points ? I have exercised my option to give a stiffer penalty than that recommended by the driving guidelines as this seriously affected most of the field apart from Mike Wallace.

Lap 5 Lol Speedfreak v Paul Bird

Lol is lining up to overtake Paul on the run to the hairpin, he misjudges this and his front wheel connects to Paul's rear punting Paul well off the road with little effect on Lol.

Penalty to Lol 3 points (I have halved the penalty detailed in the guidelines as Lol did a stop and go)

Lap 8 Karl Doyle v Michael Boylan

Michael gets out of shape out of turn 1, Karl cannot avoid and collects him. My view of this is a racing incident which. It's a shame this one happened as I was looking forward to the battle between Michael in the Honda and Karl in the Brabham. It was also a shame as while rejoining Michael hit one of the brake markers which took him out of the race.
