Well that was a complete and utter waste of time.
First time the server threw everybody out.
Second time it was more selective.
Humph!

No that didn't go well.
1st attempt ended up in a pile of cars about 300 mts from the start. Surprised to find everyone in the chat room! Apparently the server had kicked off!
2nd attempt think only 5 got as far as the grid, went away slowly as I didn't want to interfere with any of the regulars, not that I had much pace to anyway. Only to find a Honda across the track a few laps in. I went to the right but wrong choice, I believe it was Phil driving, he moved forward, no doubt trying to get off the racing line expecting me to go the other way and I managed to hit him broadside. Amazingly both cars seemed to stay in one piece. Phil got away and I followed to find the front must have been bent to hell, as I was at least 30mph down on top end and the car handling like a bag of slightly warm ice cream!
Oh well, just one of those days.
Thanks for the chance to join a couple of 66 races. It was fun on the most part.

I was reviewing the carnage in the replay before quiting, then got dumped out with a connection error message only to be shortly joined in Igor by everyone else. Had I quit straight away I'd have missed it aswell

I think that Geoff and I were both domped out of the server to a black screen.
He had to reboot to get out of it but my desktop came back eventually.
I would suspect my system but for the fact that Geoff had the same fault.

I think this race should be re-run. It's the last race of the season, and not everyone who showed up for the race got a second chance. Let me know what you think.

I would like the chance to get further than T1 lap 1, so yes please, a re-run.

OK just to clear up what happened with the server the first time out. There was a quite a bit of arguing going on during the last part of qualifying which was still going on when we lined up on the grid. Then on the run down to T1 there was an almighty pile up and when I checked in TV mode there were only 4 cars left running; 3 up front and Syd some way behind. I don't know if the pile up was caused by a warp event or was a spill over from the qually arguments. Either way I decided to shut down the server there and then. That is why everyone got booted off. In chat I blamed the server because (1) I couldn't be sure it wasn't a major warp event and (2) I wasn't sure who was doing the arguing and didn't want to cause any more problems by accusing the wrong people.
Most people were still in chat so they knew about the re-run. If anybody got disconnected in the second race then it was a connection problem (I had set the maximum latency to be 800mS - perhaps that wasn't such a good idea in hindsight).
This sort of fiasco doesn't happen very often in UKGPL. I think Division 1 at Monaco last season was the last time we had a similar lap 1 catastrophe and on that occasion we re-ran the race. I have the results of the race but I have not uploaded them because I too think the race should be re-run. If the majority of drivers and the divisional moderator agree (Syd has already indicated he is in favour) then I suggest we re-run the race next Tuesday (Syd to decide on the date).

Obviously, from my point of view, the chance of a rerun is a no-brainer. But I don't want to see Ken organising any slipstream training in the interim! Just keep hitting each other like normal.
