Congrats Rob and Tris! Excellent lap times Rob and Tristan.
After a terrible start, I had a lot of fun. I figured I was out of the race after a barrel roll at T1. I couldn't hold the outside line after bogging on line allowed Andy to get inside me entering T1. At least I didn't collect anybody else with my screw up.
I thought of trying to reset but figured it was pointless since I assumed incorrectly that we were on Pro damage. The car felt bad the first 2 or 3 laps but wasn't bad enough to stop me. By lap 7 or 8 I was moving along well. I screwed up one time on lap 15. I missed my braking point by 50 meters. I hit that dreaded kerb at T1 again.
It didn't take long to realize something was wrong. The car felt fine but I wasn't going as fast as I should have been. At the rate Tim was going the last few laps, he'd have caught me if he had another lap or two.
I drove well except for the 4 mistakes. Sam must have ESCed just before I was going to clip him. I didn't heed the skidmarks like I should have. I was surprised Sam screwed up so bad that I caught him. I was also a little surprised Tim made it easy for me too. I thought I could catch Tim. I never imagined I'd catch Sam.
Clive, I tried to destroy the engine. I made some lousy upshifts. I have doubts the engine would have allowed that on Pro damage. And look at Rob's rpms at the end of the straights! He tried more than I did to trash his engine. I have bigger doubts Rob's engine would have survived on Pro damage with those rpms.
managed the volatile Honda engine.
It looks like you tested it severely on the straights. It made me cringe watching it. I thought my 5th gear was short especially if ran much in the tow. It was good without a tow.
It's good to see that you're getting your computer running better. So when you upshift it acts like a mouse click too? I've thought of using JoyToKey to assign F10 or Shift+R to a button on my wheel.
Thanks guys. I'm glad to get to race in another of Joe's memorial races.
