Moderator's Report

Better late than never!

Server replay time: 0h01m23s

Dean gets alongside Bernie but as is usual the car on the inside survives a side by side bump better. Dean is pushed off but Bernie has not wavered from his line. This is a racing incident and whilst Dean may feel cross Bernie has done him a favour as it turns out...

Server replay time: 0h01m25s

Tristan gets up the inside of Robert but GPL decides they are a bit close and bumps him onto the cobbles. That bumps him back on to the circuit and although he tries to hold his line a fast closing Iestyn wants the same track space. Carnage ensues.

Although this is race ending for several cars Tris did not actually do too much wrong. This was hard racing at the front and the cars behind had no chance to avoid the crash.

Nine times out of ten, Tris would have got away with this and Robert would have been off.

It would be better for the race as a whole to resist the temptation of that small gap but that is not in the nature of the beast.

Server replay time: 0h01m30s

Billy blows his engine and has to pull off. I know how he feels. :(

Come on guys you just have to laugh sometimes laugh laugh laugh

With Tristan surviving, GPL once again shows its cruel sense of justice  laugh laugh laugh

However, good luck to him and all who are still running.

By my count, there were 8 left after lap 1, gotta love Tristan for causing that mayhem and getting away scot free......

My poor driving does not deserve excuses. The rear-end of Cookie's car was completely unintentional but I needed to have gone slower into that corner to have stood half a chance of surviving the wreckage. I nearly made it, had he not spun it round and waited 4 seconds for me to go past I might have made it. As it stood, that killed the engine's power, so vital to this track, and I pootled round doing 1:59s within 1 tenth, until the BRM pistons finally freed themselves and it died in the Bosch curve.

I might go back to setting the servers instead of racing on them...

That's the first and last time I use one of those red things LOL. They are not reliable on lap 1 obviously!!
Thought that as I was well down the table, I might give the fezza a try on such a fast circuit and leave my trusty Brab BRM 2 ltr in the garage.

Yes Ronnie you have to laugh at GPL... I saw Tris catch the knobbles and swing across the track so I tightened my line slightly and aimed for a huge gap on the inside of that crest.. But they saw me coming and several cars rushed back across the track to do half a pit stop on me. Well they took off 2 wheels pretty damned quickly and then failed to replace them with the same haste!!!  Undecided

We ran 2L and 3L cars together in Season 15 when the Mod first came out.  From Season 16 onwards we introduced the split because there were too many accidents caused by the different braking performances.

That doesn't mean we shouldn't try it again but we would need to be careful when we select the tracks.

Didn't want to cut off Tristan on Lap 1 in Dr. Tiroch Kurve...when I noticed he was there (didn't expect him in the middle of the corner) I did adjust my line but it was already too late...half the field gone  :'(

Then wondered in the race if it was my fault (if I had cut off Tris), lost focus and put it in the wall with my thoughts going away. Apart from some nice racing with Tristan, Bastian (two wide through whole Dr. Tiroch Kurve!) and others I drove like a clown for most of the race...just didn't have the focus to stay consistent, but managed at least not to hit anyone...

Maybe it's best for me to retire, or at least take a break...  Lips Sealed

Thanks for the nice welcome guys. very close field and many participants. nice. I had a good race start with just a small spin in the start accident after a hit from behind and i was soon 3rd. I overtook to second but saw approaching Robert and tris. Couldnt hold them, i knew, but in slipstream we really went side by side through tiroch, very nice. the next corner my race was over (nearly) missed braking point and hit the rails with the rear.Suspension or tires or both was quite damaged. Nearly didnt work out a lap with spin but in the end it was possible to do 1:56:6. hope the lapping was ok for you.

See you soon again,
Bastian

I'm car #3.  At least, it felt like it!

Congrats to Deaner on a solid win!  Good pace and consistency in a creditable drive.  Full marks.

Kudos to both Tristan and Robert for scoring podium finishes after...ahem, ahem...adventurous drives.  Smiley  Great fun watching the replay cap of your battle after things had finally settled down a bit.

And speaking of battles...  Andreas and I had a fierce duel for near-on the entire race.  The implications of the finishing order were uppermost on my mind as I currently hold down P2 in the standings but AG is P3 and is gradually chipping away at my points lead.  We lapped in close order from the BIG SHUNT onwards with only a small gap between us.  His 2-litre Lotus had the upper hand on my Eagle but I was able to comfortably run in his slipstream.  I made a couple of passes but was immediately gunned down on the straight following.  It was going to take a critical error from Andreas to make the difference and he didn't make one.  Solid drive, AG, and a real treat to race with you.  Smiley

So sorry to see that fully seven cars were eliminated in that MEGA SHUNT.  Great debut, Bastian!  Grats!

HI Smiley

well...well...well...at the entry of the curve Rob is inside and not on the good line ......then I know that I can cross our lines
if he goes wild.....and it's normaly happend, Rob spinn a little and go on the exterior of the racing line then I cross to the apex....but I saw Rob who retake the good line...we are side by side and I 'm affraid of a contact and go more inside ....and find this stupids knobbles who let me go in a incontrolable rock and roll suicide !....you know about the rest of the scene.....sorry for that guys !....I wanted to avoid a contact and the result is a carnage   :/

....and by I don't know whitch miracle.....I go alive of that.....and have a good race and top battle whith Rob ( thx mate !) .....in the end , not so bad the eagle T1F Wink

well done Dean and lucky finishers.........   bad luck for the others....racing is sometime very frustrative ....

thx org. and see you all next one Smiley

So... that was unexpected.  Cheesy

Started off quite poorly in qual. I've been using Imola setups (with reversed cambers) for Zelt, but the Brab just did not respond as well as other chassis I've done that with. Tried a few tweaks, but no improvement, so with 15 minutes left to go, I pretty much resigned myself to backmarker status, hoping to pick up a few places through consistency, and went outside for a smoke.

Came back in, had 5 minutes left, so fueled up for race distance and headed out to see what I'd be dealing with, and on the one timed lap I squeezed in at the end, I knocked 0.8 off my previous low-fuel run. Still 1.9 off the fast guys, but maybe I could snag a midfield finish?

Decent start, everyone was nice and clean through T1, harassed Bernie a bit on the run down to Tiroch, tried an outside move as he seemed to be leaving room there, but had a tiny contact. Looking at the replay, I was too low, so contact was my fault. Sorry about that, BD. But on the bright side, that slowed us _just_ enough that there was a gap in the melee ahead that we both squeezed through.

Got past Bernie, and Prib showed me in P2 at the end of lap 1. Things were looking a bit better, but my car was not behaving as it had in qual, which made for some nervous times as I tried to compensate for the damage due to the contact with Bernie. Then there was a red car stationary in Tiroch, that I thought at first was a left-over from the previous carnage, but turned out to be Rob (that must have been agonizing sitting there waiting for a clear gap to get going again, very sporting of him!).

So I'm in P1 now, with a bit of a gap, and a car that I still don't know what it's doing!! Soldier on, let's see what develops...and somehow break into the 1:50s on the third lap!?

Watching Prib (love the straights here, gave me time to glance up and strategize), I see Rob and Tris working their ways back up through the field, and do some quick math to figure out when they're going to catch me. Lap 7 or 8 I finally realize I'm looking at a podium, so maybe if I push just a bit harder...

Now doing high 49s, car still isn't "comfortable", but hey, speed is better than happy at the racetrack! Get down to a 49.6, start scaring myself a bit, and don't want to throw away what I have got now, so settle in and wait for the R&T show to inevitably appear in my mirrors in the closing stages.

But, that didn't happen. Gap stabilized at about 12-14 seconds, they must have been squabbling just enough to slow them down from catching me. Only able to relax (somewhat! car still nervous) in the final 10 laps, and so so happy to see the chequers.
