My  2pence:
I have driven with all these GPLRACER drivers on 60fps servers!
So I do not understand why we had to fall back to 36fps?
I had tested it and had problems, so I did not join...

Maybe the next time Wink

GPLRACER would also have done 60 FPS. In the end it was up to Billy to decide.
We just had to decide for 60 or 36 FPS. Running the two server with different FPS settings might have led to confuisions in case we would have had to change drivers on the grids last minute.

Strange, that you and others had FPS problems running on 36 FPS.
I thought 60 FPS would more demanding on the system?
How can that be?

So you think it was Anders fault and not yours?  Huh
A really strange point for view, but we had that already when you raced with GPLRACER.  Roll Eyes

If you wouldn`t have hit Anders at the beginning we three could have had a nice fight and you might even have finished in front of me.
After you and Anders where gone and Evil had his freeze I had a very lonely and boring race.
At the end I was not pushing at all anymore. I just drove it home to get the team points.

As i already stated at GPLRACER i know this issue and was voted heavily for 60 FPS for the last season's start.
We have not more disco / freezes here and the game runs faster.

IMO the problems with 36fps are described well by GregT

Please guys calm down,
every racer has the right to choose the league he  is racing with, but he allways has to respect the rules.

Hello Gareth

Why do you dig out that old stuff now?
That has nothing do do with my post regarding the crash at Zandy between Andreas (AnGex) and Anders Ostlund.
I did not use any rude language towards Andreas Gebhardt (AnGex).
I just wrote my point of view of the crash that he had in front of me with Anders.
I didn`t know that is not permitted here.  Wink
I didn`t use any offensive words.
"Troll" was written by Andreas Gebhardt not by me.
Also "Wer bist du denn?" = Who are you, then?

But here you go...
I just had a re-read in the GPLRACER admin section on that REKO (= race commission) topic of the GPLRACER 69x cup race at Rouen on 28.07.2013 as I didn`t participate in that race.
I just re-read the chat that has been noted down that was going on between you, Paul Skingley and Anders Ostlund before the race on 28.07.2013.

The whole thing started with a GPLRACER admin writing in chat "No qualification before 30 min. Back to the pits NOW."
In case a UKGPL admin (Coockie, Billy, Phil, whoever) would write that to me in GPL chat at a UKGPL race, I would not start an endless discussion with the admins, especially when I don`t know the rules of the new league, because I haven`t red them. I just would write "sorry" and leave the track and wait in the pits as I have obviously done something wrong, well at least not according to the leagues rules. But everyone is different.
"NOW" might have sounded harsh to you, but do you really expect a long sentence like "dear driver would you please be so kind and leave the track...." or something like this?
How would an UKGPL admin say?

All the chat afterwards sadly led to rude words on both sides.
In retrospective I think you all could have done better.

But IIRC you never got banned, don`t you?
We (and I guess also UKGPL) do not ban people so easily.

Peace guys.
I hope we can burry that old stuff finally now or whenever you are ready to do so AnGex and Gareth.

All fine with me.
I never was excited or upset.

I just posted my point of view on the crash that happened in front of me respecting the chat and forum rules here.

Phil and Clive, I had the same problem. I joined in the last seconds and forgot to run an extra program I use to get my GPU into 3d mode. GPL 36fps is such a small load on most GPUs now that they can often stay in desktop (2D) mode. With my AMD Radeon GPU, I use an extra program called ClockBlocker. With Nvidia GPUs I think you need to make sure that "prefer maximum performance" is set in the Nvidia software.

I noticed lately that Furmark, a good GPU stress test program, will get my GTX into 3D mode without actually running the stress test. Just having the program open gets my GTX 1050ti into 3D mode.

I just checked. Furmark doesn't get my Radeon to go into 3D mode unless I actually run the stress test.

Thanks Greg. my PC freezes are definitely linked to GPL and how it works, as I do not get issues with other programmes. Even GTL, which is getting quite old, works fine but that can run up to 120fps and that probably keeps the GPU occupied.

My Nvidia was set to max quality, so I have changed that to max performance and will maybe try that at Nurby this evening before going to Clockblocker..... Wink

Clive
can you try how it works with the "disable intel speed step" setting in GEM reversed!

My intel i5 got very hot with this option checked,
it is maybe not necessary for the modern intel CPU's wich have enough power without it!

So should my tired old pc have this checked?  It isn't at the minute.

Clive, Clockblocker only works with AMD Radeon GPUs. Letting Furmark idle in the background may keep your Nvidia GPU at a higher voltage and frequencies it needs when running games. I have no idea if Furmark will do that with all Nvidia gpus but it does with my Nvidia GPU. "Prefer Maximum Performance" in the Nvidia software might get to run 36fps properly, if not Furmark might work for you.

I use HWiNFO64 to check what frequencies and voltages my cpus and gpus run. My Radeon runs at 300 MHz and 0.85 volts in 2D (desktop) mode. Games need it running at 1100 MHz and 1.2 volts, which is 3D mode. Those values vary with different GPUs.

GPL 36fps is such a light load it doesn't realize it actually needs to be running in 3D mode. 60fps will get it to run in 3D mode.

@ Clive I have reported these UFO's buzzing about, but the authorities tell me they are just weather balloons Huh Huh

So, first @ Axel.
Just to be clear....are you suggesting that I should have a tick in the "disable intel speed step" box? or that I should remove the tick? Currently I have the box "ticked" so that Speed Step IS disabled.

@Greg. It was unusual to run 36fps on Sunday as all of our races in UKGPL are 60fps and that might have highlighted the problem. Having said that, I have also had freezes and discos in our own 60fps races. It is never at the beginning of a session, but usually after around 60minutes and the time element is not a constant.
So whatever adjustments I make, the only way that I am going to know if I have cracked this problem is by joining races and surviving ( or not!). If a month passes and I have not experienced any freezes I can relax. I guess there will always be the random glitch within the Interweb that will throw me out, but that should be rare.

Clive, as you have allways the problems after a while, I think maybe your CPU gets too hot.
I think that your CPU is such strong that it does not allways needs to run in full speed.
So you should try it and remove the tick and enable intel speed step.

I did tests with an i5 with a full AI grid and it ran fine with speed step, it got very hot without.
