Moderator's Report

Round 2 – Summary
Just 1 reported incident.

Server replay time: 0h07m41s

Lap 5 – Turn 1 – Dean Logan and Francesco Molteni
Dean gets a clean exit out of the last turn and chases down Francesco over the start line. As they approach turn 1 Dean tries to overtake on the inside. Francesco turns in at the same point he normally does (i.e. on laps 2, 3 and 4 which is before the standard groove). Contact is made and both drivers spin out.

Francesco took his normal racing line. Although the Vanwall mirrors are not very good Dean clearly disappears from the mirrors before the start line. Which means Francesco should have realised that Dean could be alongside and he should have been prepared to leave room.

Dean did not have 100% overlap at turn-in, so he definitely had not won the corner. In fact he hadn't achieved any overlap when Francesco started to turn in (obvious when viewed from the overhead camera at replay time 0h07m40s).

If Francesco had wanted to defend he should have stayed to the right-hand side of the track down the finish straight and taken a tight line into turn 1. Given that he didn’t do that, Dean was entitled to try for the inside line but he needed much more overlap in the braking zone in order to claim the corner and force Francesco to yield.

1955 Grand Prix - Round 2 – Pau

The second race in the 1955 Grand Prix series takes us to Pau in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department of southwestern France. The French Grand Prix was first held at Pau in 1930 on a one-off triangular 9.8-mile (15.8 km) public road circuit. However the circuit we will be using is the "Circuit de Pau-Ville" which is laid out around the town, and is in many ways similar to the more famous Formula One Monaco Grand Prix. We will be using the 1967 version of the track. Formula 1 cars raced at Pau until the 1960s but the circuit is best remembered for the many Formula 2 races that it hosted. Most notably the 1967 race which was won by Jochen Rindt, driving the Brabham BT23. Denny Hulme finished second and Alan Rees third.

Carefully read the rules on the championship standings page.

Handicapping and chassis allocation.
This season the 1955 Grand Prix cars will be using a token system which allows drivers to purchase any chassis of their choice for a given number of tokens as published on the championship standings page. Drivers classed as Amateurs will be allocated an additional 10 tokens.  The token allocation will not be managed in SRou this season so (unlike the 67F1 Works and 67F1 Privateer divisions) the tokens available to each driver will not appear in the championship table (when the mouse pointer is hovered over the driver's total).  Rather, the available tokens will be published in the race announcement. See table below.

Available Tokens:
Note: These are the tokens available to each driver before the 10 tokens are added for making the race start.

It's nicer and easier than Monaco.  ;-)

Practice server is up on IGOR if anyone would like to test their connection.

I think qually will be important here. It is going to be hard to get past. Hopefully everyone will be patient and wait for an opening.  angel

I think that you have to be patient and wait for the bloke in front to take his own wheels off!  "Openings" are no good as the rascals bounce off the walls and get you!  ;-)

It was a BREASTS race.

What does the 5/84 5/384 do to it?  Is this the preferred setting for 60fps?

Hope to get some more time on it this evening, if it is still running.

these are Bandwidth settings:

5 = every 5th frame - so you get the same minimal 12 times per second as with 36fps and 3

I prefer every 4th frame, what gives a saver close driving, because the spikes of the estimated driver behaviour are smaller...
But the replays become 20% bigger  Grin

84/384 are the paket sizes -> how many cars in front or behind

Thanks Axel, I thought that I had seen every 4th frame more often.

It's the same game as with 60fps,
some people still think it is "safer" to still use 36fps even though the Win95/98 PCs GPL was made for no longer exist
and the i-net has also made some steps forward...

Dean Logan tried hosting with every 2nd frame and it worked without problems!

It would appear that the iGOR race list is down again.

It's back again but an IP address might be useful.

I think that the driver for still using 36fps is that not all the client PCs can handle the 60fps.  As you know I was in that state until very recently.

Great read  thumbup1

Practice server back on IGOR just in case anyone would like some praccy.  I'd be surprised if there are many UK based drivers on the server this afternoon. We have some unusually lovely weather here at the moment.

I've got to pop out for a couple of hours but I'll be back home in time to start the race server.

I finished the race but the server threw me out before I could take a replay.

Good fun John.

Yes Clive, exactly the same here, I thought I had accidentally hit the wrong button to exit the car. Sad I have no idea how I kept ahead of you, I think I know the name of every hay bale at Virage de Lycee intimately. A lot of "Pass the brown corduroy trousers" moments.
