Season 33 Graduates Cup – Round 6 – Daytona Road Circuit

Something a bit different for Round 6, the Daytona International Speedway at Daytona Beach, Florida. The venue is famous for the oval used for the prestigious Daytona 500 NASCAR race. We will use the sports car course which combines high speed oval racing with big 180 degree turns often seen on US tracks. Get ready for 25 brutal laps …

The registrations for this seasons Graduates Cup are not sufficient to support separate grids. Therefore, both Works & Privateers drivers will participate on the same grid. All drivers have the same tokens allocations. We will, however, run two championships, & separate points will be scored for each. A Privateer may finish the actual race 5th, but still win the Privateers race. The race will be moderated as a combined grid. Privateers are asked not to hold up a Works driver whilst being lapped, but you may race fairly for track position.

The important difference is that Privateers are permitted one reset with a compulsory Stop & Go (taken within two laps). Although the race setting is “Intermediate” Works drivers are not allowed to take a reset.

Server = UKGPL4
IP = 109.180.233.172
Race date = Sunday 22-07-2018
Time = 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT)
Track = Link
Race length = 22 Laps (50 minutes)
Variant = 1967
60fps patch used   = 60fpsV2newmod
Damage Model = Intermediate
Qualifying time = 30-45 minutes

Driver lists and divisional rules can be found on the Championship Standings Page

There is no Red Zone. Moderating will be on reported incidents only. Remember that lap 1 incidents carry an additional penalty place.

The chassis token system is explained on the Works  / Privateers standings page. Please ensure you choose a chassis that is within your budget, which can be seen by hovering the mouse over your points total in the standings.

Privateer Drivers are permitted 1 Shift R followed by a Stop & Go in the pit lane within 2 laps. Failure to make a stop will result in a 30 second time penalty. If you require a stop & go on the final lap & are unable to complete a time penalty of 15 secs is added.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Practice server is up on IGOR.

The IP address is 109.180.233.172

We have had some trouble with IGOR recently. It is probably a good idea to practice connecting via the GPL multiplayer window using IP, just in case IGOR is down on race day.

Imported results but not able to upload server replay to ftp site because it is down for maintenance. I'll upload it as soon as UKGPL9 is back on-line.

Ops, Bastian only completed 4 laps so not 50% distance.  Fixed now, sorry Bastian.

So all the Privateers had gone within 4 laps. I did the same thing as Fran & hit Escape instead of Shift R. That's two consecutive races with an early bath.

Congrats Tristan, Fulvio, and John!

I wish I hadn't missed this one. 3 years of sleep deprivation has me feeling miserable most of the time so I haven't been able to enjoy much lately. Had I been thinking better I could have started in the BRM just to get some tokens.

Where did the privateers wreck? Coming off the banking into the infield is in my opinion one of the most difficult turns in GPL. I've never been able to do it consistently well in the GTs.

Take care guys, I hope I'm back soon.

Sorry to hear that Greg.

As for me, considerably more trivial medical drama prevented me from competing last night. Instead of slicing the onion I was aiming at, the knife somehow opened up my thumb... that was on Saturday, and it's still bleeding today... I have track day at Donington next Monday so I'm hoping it has healed by then...
