Moderator's Report

Majestic performances from Hristo and Lorenzo in their BRMs secured the top two steps on the podium. The final podium place was taken by Brendan who edged out Clive Gardner in the closing stages.

Despite being a man down, the White Team scored enough points to claim second place with the win going to the Gold Team.

Final Points Standings:
Gold Team - 81 Points
White Team - 67 Points
Blue Team - 54 Points
Red Team - 23 Points

Server replay time: 0h01m03s

Brendan Wright, Kruger Enge and Ken Murray - Lap 1 Turn 1.
Brendan is following Kruger on the exit of Tarzanbocht and warp contact is made. This throws Kruger sideways into Ken Murray and complete mayhem ensues. Practically the entire field is affected and several drivers have to take a shift R.
The initial contact was warp related and no blame can be apportioned to Brendan. All drivers who needed them are allowed a no-fault shift-R.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h24m57s

Steven Foster and Derek Howe - Lap 16 Turn 14.
Derek was slowing to go into the pits but lifted earlier than usual. This sudden drop in speed caught Steven out and he simply ran into the back of Derek at Huzaren Vlak. Derek showed a pit in signal and Steven should have seen it and realized Derek would be slowing.
Derek is entitled to a no-fault shift-R.

Server replay time: 0h28m11s

Syd Drake and Hristo Itchov - Lap 20 Turn 1.
Syd runs wide in Tarzanbocht and ends up high on the grassy bank. He then rejoins straight onto the racing line without getting up to speed first. His rejoin impedes the leader who is about to lap him and contact is made but fortunately no damage is done.

  • Syd Drakepenalty — Bad Rejoin — 3 places lost

Server replay time: 0h28m21s

Robert Burton - Lap 19 Pit Lane.
Rob's pit stop is 1 second short.

Server replay time: 0h34m34s

Kruger Enge and Robert Burton - Lap 23 Turn 1.
Kruger tries to go around the outside and Burt keeps to the inside and tries to hold him off. Both drivers battle for position and contact is made. Contested side-by-side.

Maybe I should not say this but......... I laughed so loudly when all the mayhem kicked off that my wife asked me after the race "what on earth amused you so much?"
Having negotiated T1 so carefully, we  then managed to wipe out the whole field on a straight section in a great impression of a demented pinball machine!!
Grats to the podium guys and to Hristo and Lorenzo for making those BRM's fly...still reckon they cheat somehow Roll Eyes
After being bounced around a few times by people joining the party from the rear, I eventualy rejoined somewhere at the rear of the field, quite a way back from the sharp end of the action.

Our team must have been telepathic because both Kruger and myself decided to do our pitstops very earlyand get them out of the way. This put us in clear air way behind the field but able to lap at our own pace and wait for the pitstops of others to draw them back to us.
This ploy would have been perfect had I not gone sand castle building at one point and performed a Shift R just to get back to the tarmac!!
A quick SnG and I was off again, concentrating on maitaining a steady pace . After what seemed like an age I found another car, just when I was beginning to think that all the figures on prib were purely fictional and I was in fact all on my own at Zandvoort.
It then seemed that every time I passed the pits another car was stationary and I slowly climbed through the field.
Was shocked to eventually see my name against 3rd spot!!!   I had caught and passed Brendan who is in my opinion a Cooper expert and managed to pull a small gap.
With about 3 laps to go I was worried that Brendan was going to reel me in and pinch my 3rd spot, so instead I threw it at him by looking at prib when I should have been watching the road, and went playing in the sand again.
Extracated myself and set off in pursuit of Brendan but although I closed the gap I ran out of laps. Still more than chuffed to have finished a race in such exulted company in quite such a lofty position.
Thanks to everyone for a great end to a great season...looking forward to season 15 and all its new stuff with anticipation.

I've never really got on that well with Zandvoort, but last night was a real fun race.  I'd qualified in 4th and after the T1 shenanigans found myself up to 3rd just behind team-mate Lorenzo.  That was until the end of lap 3 when my engine let go (classic Italian build quality Smiley).  After a brisk Shift-R and SnG I resumed a lot further down the field (9th I think).

I managed to clamber back up to 3rd by lap 18, due in no small part to others pitting in and some rather generous positional sacrifices from my other two teamies Will and Ben (Thanks guys  Wink)

After my two pitstops I was back down to 7th with about 10 laps to go and after a spin while closely following Ian and Evil I decided the only hope for a decent finish would be to really push on.  Now in 4th and about 6 secs behind Evil I just couldn't make any impression on the gap, every time I pulled back a second, you seemed to take it back on the next lap.  Great driving Evil.  That was until you chucked it at the scenery and I snuck past to take the final podium spot.

So, 3rd place was a great way to finish the night but I felt a bit of a fraud especially after Clive had aquitted himself so well, I feel for you mate Smiley

Thanks all and see you in S15.

If there are multiple incidents to report, does one have to enter it all in one form or should each incident be reported separately?

I just noticed the driver checkboxes so it occurred to me that it should be done that way as it will be easier for mod to make sense of it, right?

Yes a separate incident report for each incident please Kruger.  The ROC is a bit of a test case for us UKGPLers.  It's a good opportunity for us to get used to this SRou wizardry  angel.

First off, thanks to Phil for organizing such a fun event. My race was most enjoyable until around lap 28, at which time my power plant croaked, ending my hopes for 6th place. I'd forgotten how much fun the pit-stops were...well in my case, pit-stop.Grin At the start, I had to put my Coop in 4WD and head for the sand to dice my way through the mayhem, which proved to be a good move. Then the next 27 laps were really pretty lonely. Then after my stop, I was just ahead of Burt and my race was really starting to get interesting, when she blew up. After my S&G, I had no chance.

Hats off to Lorenzo and Brendan for putting the Gold Team in the spot light. Sorry I couldn't have helped more.

Cheers,

Will

Glad to be back after such a long absence and at my favorite track out of the original 11 - couldn't have wished for more. Taking the BRM was the logical choice as it had 1 pitstop less and I already had a decent setup, so it was just about getting back in rails as I haven't done any practice before the event. It was such a joy to be able to drive and throw the car around again, I have forgotten how fun GPL really is. The start was ok and I just managed to hold 1st around the outside of T1 and just tried to take it carefully on the engine and tyres in the opening laps until they were up to proper temperature. After that it was a fairly uneventful run, but I was getting pleasure out of it and enjoyed every moment. The only problem I had was with a backmarker near the end (i think), who rejoined the track without checking his mirrors, but I just managed to brake on time and avoid major collision, so just had a little bump. Made my pitstop near the end too and was a bit worried about an overrev as I got going again, but the engine held. Grats to Lorenzo for a steady drive and I suppose to some other team than us, Whiteys, for winning the RoC. Smiley Looking forward to seeing final team results.

Cheers,
-=Hristo=-
