UKGPL SEASON 30 F2 CHAMPIONSHIP – Round 6 : ROUEN For the 6th race of this season we return to familiar grounds, to the great track of Rouen. Rouen-Les-Essarts was a 6.542 km (4.065 mi) motor racing circuit in Grand-Couronne, near Rouen, France. From its opening in 1950, Rouen-Les-Essarts was recognized as one of Europe's finest circuits, with modern pits, a wide track, and spectator grandstands. The circuit (which ran on public roads) had a few medium straights, a cobbled hairpin turn (Nouveau Monde) at the southernmost tip, and a few blind corners through a wooded hillside The appeal was greatly enhanced by the climb from Nouveau Monde at 56 metres to Gresil at 149 metres. Rouen hosted five Formula One French Grand Prix races, the last one in 1968 resulting in the tragic burning death of Jo Schlesser, at the fast downhill Six Frères curve. The circuit continued to host major Formula 2 events until 1978, after which it was used for various French Championships. Drivers will have a free car choice BUT Each car can be driven only once in this season!

Hi, Dave! As for the Zolder round, I did gain the server in the Lotus 48 but didn't get to turn so much as a lap as my ISP went down for a period of time shortly after logging on. In fact, I lost all services(TV, phone, NET). I should like the car re-instated as a possible ride down the road, pls. Thanks.

Hi Doni
Not a problem for me.
But you used this Lotus48 for the qualif and get the 9th position. I don't know if the rules are clear in such a case (Walter ? other moderators ? what do u think ?)

Strictly by the rules Doni used the Lotus 48 by attending the event and setting a qualifying time. However, I'd say it is at the divisional moderator's discretion to decide what

First off, thank you David for keeping track of chassis usage! I agree with David. I think it would be OK to let Doni reuse the chassis because he did not cross the start line for the race at Zolder. Also, thank you Robert and Clive for reminding me of the rules.

Thanks for the ruling, Walter. I'll look to use the Lotus 48 for a future event.
Just to expand upon the situation... This was a clear case of force majeure. My ISP provides cable TV and land-line phone service as well. The UKGPL races go off at 4:30pm my local time. At about 4:15pm, I lost every service. Who you gonna call when the phone doesn't work? Ghost Busters? LOL! Service was restored around 4:35pm but that was just a little too late, wasn't it?

Indeed, I think the moderating team needs someone like you to give us feedback. If this were the 67 F1 works or privateer series, would Doni had been charged tokens for using the car?

LM2 will retract the tokens when you start the race I think, not when only qualifying. You will also gain 10 tokens only by crossing the s/f line after the start. Comparing with the F2 division, Doni had a good point in that respect.

Another difficult race for me. No practice time meant setup tweaks in quali which ultimately went awry. RobertF's McLaren setup was just a bit too twitchy for race distance & numerous mistakes occurred to leave me near the back when I finally dropped it at the hairpin with only a few laps remaining. I decided to retire as a SnG would have yielded the same nett result, last Grats all, thnx admins

If my memory serves me correctly, in a Works race many years gone by, me and Bob Whitwell managed to collide before the start finish line at Mosport when the race started. As we never crossed the line we were charged the tokens amount for the car but weren't awarded the 10 for starting! Having said this, perhaps a gentlemen's agreement that Doni can use the Lotus again isn't an unfair request given the circumstances? As for my race, well that race terrific fun. Managed to bag pole which was a surprise and lead off the line but the twitchy nature of my car setup (and my lead foot ) gave me grief at Scierie when putting the power down, had me off the track at the exit. Slotted into 4th behind Trist, Axle and Clive. Managed to pass Clive a couple laps later and had a grandstand view of Trist and Axle having a superb battle. I couldn't match them on the brakes so was prepared to play the long game. Axle made a small error at Scierie under braking which allowed me to slingshot past into 2nd place at Virage du Paradis. Attempting to catch Trist however, I fumbled my braking at, you guessed it, Scierie and was very fortunate not to hit the back of Trist. But my escapade dropped me down to 3rd place, out of the tow. Trying desperately to catch the leading pair, I was gaining on them, but just a little to slowly for my liking. I thought I'd run out of laps but it appeared Axle and Trist had an unfortunate coming together, Trist coming off second best. I was promoted to 2nd place and was within striking distance of Axle. I made my move a couple laps from the end and desperately tried to build a slight cushion in the lead. Axle closed in rapidly on the back straight and it was all set for a tight finish! Just about managed to hold it, a fortunate win given the circumstances. Many congrats to Axle and Clive for the podium places and hard luck to Trist for the problems late on. Always enjoy racing at Rouen .

Good info Robert and Samb! I will revise my unofficial rule to emulate the privateers/works series.
