Chief Moderator: Badblood
Season 23 will commence on 17 June 2012. We will continue to run nine divisions on Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays. There will a mixture of the mods and the original cars so there should be something for everyone. Sundays will see the 67 “Works” and “Privateers” division alternate with the “GT Trophy”, Tuesdays will continue to have three 65 divisions after the success of the "Intermediates" in Season 22 - “Professionals”;"Intermediates" and "Novices”. Every other week will see the 66 “Historics” running. Fridays are slightly different this season with a re-booted “Porsche Cup” and a brand new series - "F2 Trophy" for the immensely driveable F2 mod. Specs is taking a rest for a while which means no home for the 69's but they will be back...
In order to make the rules easier to understand the divisions have been broken up into Pro, Int and Novice; in brief Pro (67 Works/65 Pro/66 Historic/Porsche) will have pro settings hence no resets, Int (67 Privateers/65 Int/GT's) will allow one reset only with a compulsory SnG and Novice (65 Novice/F2s) will allow unlimited resets with a compulsory SnG.
ALL divisions operate with first lap ‘red zone’ moderation, the length of the red zone will be advised by the Division Moderator prior to each event.
The only rule change for Season 23 is a tidy up of the wording relating to rejoins - this makes the circumstances of a rejoin more explicit. The range of penalties available has also been extended to allow for in-season penalties where Penalty Points have been accrued too quickly. These include a Back of Grid start (no qualifying allowed for a named driver); compulsory Pit Stop and after race time penalty. It is hoped that we will not have to use these.
Races will continue to start at 9.30pm UK time but the Divisional Moderator will have the option of starting the server early for anything up to an hours Qualification (ie from 8.30pm UK time). Qualification should start no later than 9pm UK time (starting issues allowing).
As ever, drivers are being asked to read the rules, dates and track selection for each division and enter the divisions they prefer. The objective here is to ensure the drivers are happy with the rules, dates and track selection of their chosen division(s) before committing to the season. The moderators reserve the right to adjust the driver allocation as necessary but this is unlikely for all but the Pro/Novices and Works/Privateers divisions.
Newcomers to GPL will generally enter the Novices Trophy that utilizes the 65 cars. Here they will be able to get up to speed with racing on-line without the demands of the challenging 1967 cars. Once they are comfortable on-line, they may decide to move on to the higher divisions with the faster cars. Faster newcomers and experienced drivers who like the 65 cars, are best suited to the Intermediate or Pro Trophies (to be run on the same night as the Novices Trophy). Drivers of all abilities who enjoy the 66mod can enter the Historic Trophy division. You will need to complete 50% race distance in order to score.
The F2 trophy will run on a single grid for drivers of all abilities but results will be split into two divisions (Light and Heavy). Along with the Novice trophy, this series represents the entry point to UKGPL.
For the GT’s we continue with our general GT division and our specialist Porsche events, both of which continue to have a team ethos.
Drivers will not be restricted to entering a single division. Drivers can enter as many divisions as they like but they cannot enter both the Novices and Pro or the Privateers and Works Trophies.
