The 1955 Grand Prix cars present an interesting challenge with primitive brakes and unresponsive handling which which only serves to highlight just how brave and talented the drivers in the 1950's really were. This championship will be run over ten races, the faster drivers will be placed in the "Senior" category with the remaining drivers placed in the "Junior" category. The final championship positions will be determined after each driver has discarded their worst two results.
Drivers will be allocated 10 tokens at the start of the season with a further 10 tokens for each race they start (including their first race). A driver who fails to start any of the first 5 races will only be eligible for an initial allocation of 5 tokens (rather than 10) but will still receive a further 10 tokens for each race they start (including their first race).
Drivers who are classed as "Juniors" will be given additional tokens. This will take the form of 10 additional tokens at the start of the season. However a "Junior" driver who fails to start any of the first 5 races will only be eligible for an additional allocation of 5 tokens (rather than 10). "Junior" status will be declared by the divisional moderator at the start of the season.
Drivers must pay the number of tokens for the chassis they use in accordance with the following table:
Chassis | Cost in Tokens |
Mercedes-Benz W196 SL | 20 |
Mercedes-Benz W196 | 18 |
Lancia D50 | 15 |
Maserati 250F | 12 |
Ferrari Tipo 555 | 12 |
Ferrari Tipo 625 | 10 |
Vanwall VW55 | 10 |
Connaught Type B | 5 |
Gordini Type 16 | Zero |
For example a driver who chooses an Lancia D50 in round one will receive an initial allocation of 10 tokens and 10 tokens for starting the race. The Lancia D50 costs 15 tokens so the driver will have 5 tokens left after the race. If he chooses a Maserati 250F for the second round, then after receiving 10 tokens for starting the race and paying 12 tokens to drive the Maserati 250F he will be left with 3 tokens. That means after receiving 10 tokens for starting round 3, he will only have 13 tokens and consequently will not be able to afford to drive a Lancia D50 or anything faster.
A driver must cross the start line at least once under race conditions to qualify as a starter (this is determined automatically by GPL not by the moderating staff). This means if a driver makes the grid he must actually cross the start line to qualify as a starter, simply making the grid is not sufficient. Similarly if a driver fails to make the grid but decides to start from the pit lane, he must cross the start line at least once under race conditions to qualify as a starter. Depending on where his pit box is in relation to the start line, this may mean he needs to complete a full lap in order to cross the start line. Drivers must start the race to be eligible for the 10 tokens "start money".
A driver must have sufficient tokens for the chassis he drives in the race. Any driver who does not have sufficient tokens will be disqualified from the result and his tokens will be set to zero.
The chassis a driver uses in qualifying are disregarded when determining his token spend.
Note: This is to cater for the instances when a driver either does not start or inadvertently joins with the wrong chassis and subsequently rejoins the server in another.
Any tokens not spent at the end of the season are ignored and are not used to determine championship positions in the event of a tie.
Note: We are using the 60fps patch (60fpsV2NewMod) this seasonModerator: Phil Thornton
