The 1967 Formula 1 championship is intended to provide the ultimate challenge for the most accomplished drivers in the league using the original 1967 car set. Whilst drivers of all abilities are welcome it is expected that entrants will be reasonably adept at handling the more forgiving 65 cars before attempting to master the 1967 brutes. All rounds will count towards the final championship position.
This championship is for the regular "Privateer" drivers who are not quite quick enough to race in the "Works" category. The races will be run under "Pro" rules and consequently no resets are allowed.
Once again we will be running a joint championship with GPL Brazil. Last season we used the UKGPL Token system so this season with will be using the GPL Brazil chassis usage system. The chassis usage system uses a simple rule that encourages the use of all the chassis without the complexity of the token system. The simple rule is:
"Each chassis should be used at least once and no chassis can be used more than twice."
A bonus point will be awarded for pole position.
A bonus point will be awarded for the fastest lap.
A driver must cross the start line in order to register the use of a chassis, participation in qualifying is not sufficient.
Drivers must use 7 different chassis for their first 7 races.
Only when a driver has used all 7 chassis, will they be allowed to select a chassis for the second time.
Any driver who uses a chassis for the second time before all 7 chassis have been used once, will be disqualified from the race.
Any driver who uses a chassis he has already used twice will be disqualified from the race.
Points will be allocated from 1st to 12th as follows: 20, 15, 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
Drivers must complete 75% race distance to score.
All rounds count towards the driver's championship.
For each race, only the top two drivers from each team count towards team championship.
